Aduși la viață împreună cu Cristos

1 Voi erați morți în greșelile și păcatele voastre,2 în care trăiați odinioară, urmând căile acestei lumi și pe domnul puterii văzduhului, a duhului care lucrează acum în fiii neascultării.3 Noi toți am trăit odinioară între ei, împlinind poftele firii noastre, urmând dorințele și gândurile firii și eram, din fire, copii ai mâniei, ca și ceilalți.4 Dar Dumnezeu, Care este bogat în îndurare, datorită dragostei Lui mari cu care ne-a iubit,5 ne-a adus la viață împreună cu Cristos, cu toate că eram morți în păcatele noastre: prin har ați fost mântuiți.6 El ne-a înviat împreună cu Cristos și ne-a așezat împreună cu El în locurile cerești, în Cristos Isus,7 pentru ca, în veacurile care vin, să-Și arate nemărginita bogăție a harului Său, în bunătatea Sa față de noi în Cristos Isus.8 Căci prin har ați fost mântuiți, prin credință; și aceasta nu vine de la voi, ci este darul lui Dumnezeu;9 nu prin fapte, ca să nu se laude nimeni.10 Căci noi suntem lucrarea Lui, creați în Cristos Isus pentru faptele bune pe care le-a pregătit Dumnezeu mai dinainte, ca să umblăm în ele.

Una în Cristos

11 De aceea, amintiți-vă că erați neamuri prin naștere, numiți „necircumciși“ de către cei numiți „circumciși“, – circumcizie făcută în carne de mâini omenești –,12 că, în acel timp, erați fără Cristos, separați de poporul Israel, străini de legămintele promisiunii, fără nădejde și fără Dumnezeu în lume.13 Dar acum, în Cristos Isus, voi, care odată erați departe, ați fost aduși aproape, prin sângele lui Cristos.

14 Căci El este pacea noastră, Cel Care din doi a făcut unul, dărâmând, prin trupul Său, zidul care-i despărțea, adică dușmănia.15 El a înlăturat Legea cu poruncile și regulile ei, pentru a crea din cei doi, în El, un om nou, făcând astfel pace,16 și i-a împăcat pe cei doi cu Dumnezeu într-un singur trup, prin cruce, prin care a nimicit dușmănia.17 El a venit și v-a vestit pacea, vouă, celor care erați departe, și a adus pace celor care erau aproape,18 pentru ca, prin El, amândoi să avem acces, într-un singur Duh, la Tatăl.19 Așadar, acum nu mai sunteți străini sau de alt neam, ci sunteți cetățeni împreună cu sfinții și membri ai casei lui Dumnezeu,20 fiind zidiți pe temelia pusă de apostoli și de profeți, piatra din capul unghiului fiind Cristos Isus.21 În El, întreaga clădire, bine închegată, crește până devine un templu sfânt în Domnul.22 Și, prin El, și voi sunteți zidiți împreună pentru a deveni o locuință în care trăiește Dumnezeu prin Duhul Său.

EPHESIANS 2

From Death to Life

1  t In the past you were dead because you sinned and fought against God. 2 You followed the ways of this world and obeyed the devil. He rules the world, and his spirit has power over everyone who doesn't obey God.

3 Once we were also ruled by the selfish desires of our bodies and minds. We had made God angry, and we were going to be punished like everyone else.
4-5 But God was merciful! We were dead because of our sins, but God loved us so much he made us alive with Christ, and God's gift of undeserved grace is what saves you. 6 God raised us from death to life with Christ Jesus, and he has given us a place beside Christ in heaven. 7 God did this so in the future world he could show how truly good and kind he is to us because of what Christ Jesus has done. 8 You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve.t This is God's gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own. 9 It isn't something you have earned, so there is nothing you can brag about.

10 God planned for us to do good things and to live as he has always wanted us to live. This is why he sent Christ to make us what we are.

United by Christ

13 and you were far from God. But Christ offered his life's blood as a sacrifice and brought you near God.
14 Christ has made peace between Jews and Gentiles, and he has united us by breaking down the wall of hatred that separated us. Christ gave his own body 15 t to destroy the Law of Moses with all its rules and commands. He even brought Jews and Gentiles together as though we were only one person, when he united us in peace. 16 t On the cross Christ did away with our hatred for each other. He also made peacet between us and God by uniting Jews and Gentiles in one body. 17 t Christ came and preached peace to you Gentiles, who were far from God, and peace to us Jews, who were near God.

18 And because of Christ, all of us can come to the Father by the same Spirit.
19 You Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens with everyone else who belongs to the family of God. 20 You are like a building with the apostles and prophets as the foundation and with Christ as the most important stone. 21 Christ is the one who holds the building together and makes it grow into a holy temple for the Lord. 22 And you are part of that building Christ has built as a place for God's own Spirit to live.
