จากความตายสู่ชีวิต
1 ท่านทั้งหลายตายโดยการละเมิดและการบาปของท่าน 2 เมื่อก่อนพวกท่านเคยดำเนินชีวิตในการบาปนั้นตามวิถีของโลกนี้ ตามผู้ครอบครองที่มีอำนาจในฟ้าอากาศ คือวิญญาณที่ทำกิจอยู่ในพวกคนที่ไม่เชื่อฟังในเวลานี้ 3 เมื่อก่อนเราทุกคนเคยประพฤติเหมือนพวกเขาตามตัณหาของเนื้อหนัง คือทำตามความต้องการของเนื้อหนังและของความคิด โดยวิสัยแล้วเราจึงเป็นคนที่สมควรได้รับการลงโทษเหมือนอย่างคนอื่นๆ 4 แต่พระเจ้าทรงเปี่ยมด้วยพระเมตตา พระองค์ทรงรักเราโดยความรักอันใหญ่หลวงของพระองค์ 5 ถึงแม้ว่าเราเป็นคนตายเนื่องจากการละเมิด พระองค์ยังทรงทำให้มีชีวิตอยู่ร่วมกับพระคริสต์t (พวกท่านได้รับความรอดแล้วด้วยพระคุณ) 6 และพระองค์ทรงทำให้เราเป็นขึ้นมาด้วยกันกับพระคริสต์ และทรงให้เรานั่งด้วยกันกับพระองค์ในสวรรคสถานในพระเยซูคริสต์ 7 เพื่อว่าในยุคต่อๆ ไป พระองค์จะทรงสำแดงพระคุณอันอุดมเหลือล้นของพระองค์ ด้วยพระกรุณาที่มีต่อเราในพระเยซูคริสต์ 8 เพราะว่าท่านทั้งหลายได้รับความรอดแล้วด้วยพระคุณโดยทางความเชื่อ ความรอดนี้ไม่ใช่มาจากตัวท่าน แต่เป็นของประทานจากพระเจ้า 9 ไม่ใช่มาจากการกระทำ เพื่อไม่ให้ใครอวดได้ 10 เพราะว่าเราเป็นฝีพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ที่ทรงสร้างขึ้นในพระเยซูคริสต์เพื่อให้ทำการดี ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่พระเจ้าทรงจัดเตรียมไว้ก่อนแล้วเพื่อให้เราดำเนินตาม
การเป็นหนึ่งเดียวกันในพระคริสต์
11 ดังนั้นพวกท่านจงระลึกว่า เมื่อก่อนท่านทั้งหลายเป็นคนต่างชาติโดยกำเนิดt และฝ่ายที่เข้าสุหนัต (ซึ่งทำต่อร่างกายtด้วยมือมนุษย์) เคยเรียกท่านว่าพวกไม่ได้เข้าสุหนัต 12 จงระลึกว่าตอนนั้นพวกท่านเป็นคนไม่มีพระคริสต์ ถูกตัดขาดจากการเป็นพลเมืองอิสราเอล เป็นคนนอกในเรื่องพันธสัญญาทั้งหลายที่ทรงสัญญาไว้ อยู่ในโลกนี้อย่างไม่มีความหวังและปราศจากพระเจ้า 13 แต่บัดนี้ในพระเยซูคริสต์ ท่านทั้งหลายซึ่งเมื่อก่อนอยู่ไกล ได้เข้ามาใกล้โดยพระโลหิตของพระคริสต์ 14 เพราะว่าพระองค์เองทรงเป็นสันติภาพของเรา โดยร่างกายtของพระองค์ ทรงทำให้ทั้งสองฝ่ายเป็นหนึ่งเดียวกัน และทรงรื้อกำแพงที่แยกระหว่างสองฝ่ายคือการเป็นศัตรูกัน 15 ทรงทำให้ธรรมบัญญัติซึ่งประกอบด้วยบัญญัติและคำสั่งต่างๆ นั้นเป็นโมฆะt เพื่อสร้างให้เป็นคนใหม่คนเดียวกันในพระองค์จากคนสองฝ่ายนั้น เช่นนั้นแหละ พระองค์จึงทรงทำให้เกิดสันติภาพ 16 และทำให้ทั้งสองฝ่ายคืนดีกับพระเจ้าเป็นกายเดียวโดยทางกางเขนt จึงเป็นเหตุให้การเป็นศัตรูกันหมดสิ้นไป 17 พระองค์ทรงมาประกาศสันติภาพแก่พวกท่านที่อยู่ไกล และแก่บรรดาคนที่อยู่ใกล้ t 18 เพราะว่าโดยทางพระคริสต์เราทั้งสองฝ่ายมีโอกาสเข้าเฝ้าพระบิดาโดยพระวิญญาณองค์เดียวกัน 19 เพราะฉะนั้น พวกท่านจึงไม่ใช่คนนอกและคนต่างด้าวอีกต่อไป แต่เป็นพลเมืองเดียวกับบรรดาธรรมิกชน และเป็นครอบครัวของพระเจ้า 20 ท่านทั้งหลายถูกก่อร่างสร้างขึ้นบนรากฐานของบรรดาอัครทูตและบรรดาผู้เผยพระวจนะ มีพระเยซูคริสต์เป็นศิลาหัวมุม 21 ในพระองค์นั้นทุกส่วนของโครงสร้างถูกเชื่อมต่อกันและเจริญขึ้นเป็นวิหารอันบริสุทธิ์ในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า 22 และในพระองค์นั้น พวกท่านก็กำลังถูกก่อร่างสร้างขึ้นด้วยกันให้เป็นที่สถิตของพระเจ้าโดยพระวิญญาณt
Ephesians 2
1 And you did he make alive, when ye were dead through your trespasses and sins,2 wherein ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience;3 among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:--4 but God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace have ye been saved),6 and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus:7 that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus:8 for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;9 not of works, that no man should glory.10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.11 Wherefore remember, that once ye, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called Circumcision, in the flesh, made by hands;12 that ye were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.13 But now in Christ Jesus ye that once were far off are made nigh in the blood of Christ.14 For he is our peace, who made both one, and brake down the middle wall of partition,15 having abolished in the flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; that he might create in himself of the two one new man, so making peace;16 and might reconcile them both in one body unto God through the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:17 and he came and preached peace to you that were far off, and peace to them that were nigh:18 for through him we both have our access in one Spirit unto the Father.19 So then ye are no more strangers and sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,20 being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner stone;21 in whom each several building, fitly framed together, groweth into a holy temple in the Lord;22 in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
