Efésios 2

Da morte para a vida

1 No passado, vocês estavam espiritualmente mortos por causa dos seus pecados e das coisas más que fizeram contra Deus.2 Vocês viviam da mesma maneira como o mundo vive e seguiam aquele que governa os poderes espirituais no ar. Ele é o espírito que agora está influenciando a vida daqueles que se recusam a obedecer a Deus.

3 Todos nós vivíamos como eles, procurando satisfazer a nossa natureza pecadora. Fazíamos toda a vontade dos nossos corpos e dos nossos pensamentos. E, como o resto do mundo, nós também estávamos sujeitos à ira de Deus, pois éramos como eles.
4 Deus, porém, é muito rico em misericórdia e o seu amor por nós é muito grande.5 Por isso, mesmo quando estávamos espiritualmente mortos nos nossos pecados, Ele nos deu uma vida nova juntamente com Cristo. Vocês foram salvos pela graçat de Deus.6 E, como somos identificados com Cristo Jesus, Deus nos ressuscitou assim como ressuscitou a Cristo e nos fez reinar com Ele nos céus.7 Deus fez isso para que pudesse mostrar a incomparável riqueza da sua graça para as gerações futuras. Esta graça é demonstrada pela sua bondade para conosco em Cristo Jesus.8 Pois é pela graça de Deus que vocês foram salvos, por meio da fé que vocês têm. Vocês não salvaram a si mesmos. A salvação vem de Deus como um dom,9 e não como o resultado das obras que alguém fez, para que assim ninguém se orgulhe.

10 Nós somos criaturas de Deus. Ele nos criou em Cristo Jesus para que passássemos a nossa vida fazendo as boas obras que Ele já tinha preparado.

Unidos em Cristo

11 No passado vocês, que não nasceram judeus, eram chamados de "incircuncisos"t por aqueles judeus que chamavam a si mesmos de circuncisost, referindo-se à uma operação física feita por mãos humanas.12 Portanto, lembrem-se de que naquele tempo vocês estavam sem Cristo e excluídos da comunidade de Israelt. Vocês não tinham parte nas aliançast relacionadas com a promessa de Deus. Vocês estavam sem esperança e sem Deus no mundo.13 Antigamente vocês estavam longe de Deus, mas agora, em Cristo Jesus, vocês foram aproximados de Deus pelo sangue de Cristo.14 Por causa de Cristo nós agora temos paz. Ele fez dos dois povos um só e, pelo seu próprio corpo, destruiu a parede de ódio que os separava.15 Cristo fez isso quando aboliu a leit com os seus mandamentos e suas regras. O seu propósito era fazer a paz ao criar em si mesmo um novo povo daqueles dois povos.16 O que Ele queria era acabar com o ódio por meio de sua morte na cruz e, por meio dela, reunir ambos os povos com Deus num só corpo.17 E Ele veio e anunciou as Boas Novast de paz para todos vocês—tanto para os que estavam longe de Deus como também para os que estavam perto dele.

18 E é por meio de Cristo que todos nós podemos ir ao Pai em um Espíritot.
19 Portanto, vocês não são mais estrangeiros nem estranhos. Agora vocês são cidadãos que pertencem ao povo de Deus; vocês são da família de Deus.20 Vocês são como um edifício que está construído sobre um alicerce que são os apóstolost e profetast. E o próprio Jesus Cristo é a pedra fundamental desse edifício.21 É Ele que mantém o edifício todo bem ajustado e o faz crescer como templo consagrado ao Senhor.

22 E em Cristo, vocês também estão sendo edificados juntamente com os outros, para se tornarem uma casa onde Deus habite por meio do Espíritot.

Ephesians 2

Made Alive in Christ

1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together twith Christ (by grace you have been saved),6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision," which is performed in the flesh by human hands-12  remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.17 AND HE CAME AND PREACHED PEACE TO YOU WHO WERE FAR AWAY, AND PEACE TO THOSE WHO WERE NEAR;18 for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household,20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.
