Il misterio della vocazione dei Gentili, e l'apostolato di Paolo. Preghiera di Paolo per gli Efesi

1 PER questa cagione io Paolo, il prigione di Cristo Gesùt per voi Gentilit;
2 (Se pure avete udita la dispensazion della grazia di Dio, che mi è stata data inverso voit. 3 Come per rivelazionet egli mi ha fatto conoscere il misteriot; siccome avanti in breve scrissit. 4 A che potete, leggendo, conoscere qual sia la mia intelligenza nel misterio di Cristo. 5 Il quale non fu dato a conoscere nell'altre età a'~figliuoli degli uominit, come ora è stato rivelato a'~santi apostoli, e profeti d'esso, in Ispirito; 6 acciocchè i Gentili sieno coeredi, e d'un medesimo corpot, e partecipi della promessa d'essot in Cristo, per l'evangelo. 7 Del quale io sono stato fatto ministro, secondo il dono della grazia di Dio, che mi è stata datat, secondo la virtù della sua potenza. 8 A me, dico, il minimo di tutti i santit, è stata data questa grazia d'evangelizzar fra i Gentilit le non investigabili ricchezze di Cristo; 9 e di manifestare a tutti, quale è la dispensazion del misteriot, il quale da'~secoli è stato occulto in Diot, che ha create tutte le cose per Gesù Cristot; 10 acciocchè nel tempo presente sia data a conoscere ai principati, e alle podestàt, ne'~ luoghi celesti, per la chiesa, la molto varia sapienza di Diot, 11 secondo il proponimento eternot, il quale egli ha fatto in Cristo Gesù, nostro Signore. 12 In cui noi abbiamo la libertà, e l'introduzione in confidanzat, per la fede d'esso.

13 Per la qual cosa io richieggo che non veniate meno dell'animot per le mie tribolazioni, che soffro per voit; il che è la vostra gloriat.)
14 Per questa cagione, dico, io piego le mie ginocchia al Padre del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo; 15 dal quale è nominata tutta la famiglia, ne'~cieli, e sopra la terrat; 16 ch'egli vi dia, secondo le ricchezze della sua gloria, d'esser fortificati in virtù, per lo suo Spirito, nell'uomo internot; 17 e che Cristo abiti ne'~vostri cuori per la fedet. 18 Acciocchè, essendo radicati, e fondati in carità, possiate comprendere, con tutti i santi, qual sia la larghezza, e la lunghezza, e la profondità, e l'altezza,

19 e conoscer la carità di Cristot, che sopravanza ogni conoscenza; acciocchè siate ripieni fino a tutta la pienezza di Diot.
20 Or a colui che può, secondo la potenza che opera in noi, fare infinitamente sopra ciò che noi chieggiamo, o pensiamot; 21 a lui sia la gloria nella Chiesa, in Cristo Gesù, per tutte le generazioni del secolo de'~secoli. Amen.

Ephesians 3

Paul's Relationship to the Divine Mystery

1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesuss for the sake of you Gentiles –2 if indeeds you have heard of the stewardshipt of God’s grace that was given to me for you,3 thatt by revelation the divine secrett was made known to me, as I wrote before briefly.ts4 When reading this,t you will be able tot understand my insight into this secrett of Christ.5 Now this secrett was not disclosed to peoplet in formert generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets byt the Spirit,6 namely, that through the gospels the Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow memberst of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus.7 I became a servant of this gospelt according to the gift of God’s grace that was given to me byt the exercise of his power.s8 To me – less than the least of all the saintss – this grace was given,s to proclaim to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ9 and to enlightent everyone about God’s secret plant – a secret that has been hidden for agest in Godt who has created all things.10 The purpose of this enlightenment is thatt through the church the multifaceted wisdomt of God should now be disclosed to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms.11 This was according tot the eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,12 in whom we have boldness and confident accesst to Godt because oft Christ’st faithfulness.ts

13 For this reason I ask yout not to lose heart because of what I am suffering for you,t whichs is your glory.t

Prayer for Strengthened Love

14 For this reasons I kneelt before the Father,s15 fromt whom every familyt in heaven and on the earth is named.16 I pray thatt according to the wealth of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person,17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that, because you have been rooted and grounded in love,18 you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,s

19 and thus to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled up tot all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who by the power that is working within uss is able to do far beyondt all that we ask or think,

21 to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
