エペソ人への手紙 3
三
1 キリスト様の奴隷である私パウロは、今、あなたがたのために投獄されています。 あなたがた外国人も、神の家族の一員だと告げたからです。 2-3 私は、外国人に神様の恵みを示すためのこの特別の任務を、神様から受けています。 このことについては、前の手紙でも簡単にふれましたから、もうすでにご存じと思います。 外国人もまた神様の恵みの対象とされているという、この神様の特別の計画を、神様が私に明かしてくださったのです。 4 このように申し上げるのも、これらについて私がどう理解しているかを、わかっていただくためです。 5 以前には、神様はこの計画を、自分の民に隠しておられました。 しかし今では、聖霊様を通して、使徒や預言者たちに、はっきりと示しておられます。
6 その特別の計画とは、こうです。 すなわち、神様の子供とされた者たちが全財産を相続する時、外国人もユダヤ人と共に、十分にその分け前にあずかるということです。 ユダヤ人も外国人も、共に神の教会の一員として招かれています。 そして、キリスト様についての良い知らせと、この方が成し遂げてくださったこととを受け入れる時、キリスト様によって大いに祝福するという神様の約束に、両者ともあずかるのです。 7 神様は、この計画をすべての人に伝える光栄ある特権を、私に与えてくださいました。 また、その務めを果たすに十分な、神の力と特別な才能をも、与えてくださったのです。
8 考えてもごらんなさい。 私はそんな資格の全くない者です。クリスチャンの中で最も役立たずの人間です。 それにもかかわらず、キリスト様のうちにある無限の富が外国人にも分け与えられる、という喜ばしい知らせを伝える者として、特に選ばれたのです。 9 それはまた、万物を造られた神様が、世の初めからの特別な計画どおりに、ご自分が外国人の救い主でもあることを、すべての人に説き明かすためでもありました。
10 神様がそうなさる理由は何でしょうか。 それは、天上のもろもろの支配者たちに対して、神の全家族――ユダヤ人も外国人も――が神の教会の中で一丸となっている姿を見せ、神様の完全な知恵を示すためです。 11 これこそ、神様が主キリスト・イエスを通して、かねてから計画しておられたことなのです。
12 キリスト様と共に、また、キリスト様に頼って神様に近づけば、きっと喜んで迎えていただけることを確信して、私たちは今、恐れることなく、大胆に神様の前に出ることができます。
13 ですから、どうか、私がいま体験している苦しみを知って落胆しないでください。 この苦しみは、あなたがたのためであり、それは、あなたがたにとって名誉となり、励ましとなるはずです。 14-15 神様のご計画の知恵深さと広大さを思う時、私はひざをかがめて、神の大家族〔その中のある者はすでに天国におり、ある者はまだ地上にいます〕の父なる方に祈ります。 16 どうか、父なる神が、その栄光に満ちた無限の富の中から、聖霊様を通して人を内面から強くする力を、あなたがたに与えてくださいますように。 17 また、こうも祈ります。 どうか、キリスト様が、信じるあなたがたの心に住み、喜んでそこに住み続けてくださいますように。 どうか、この上なくすばらしい神様の愛という土壌に、あなたがたが深く根を張れますように。 18-19 そして、〔神様の子供とされた者にとっては当然のことですが〕神様の愛が実際にどれほど長く、どれほど広く、どれほど深く、どれほど高いかを知り、また理解できますように。 さらに、それを身をもって経験できますように。 もっとも、この愛はあまりにも大きいので、それを見極め、完全に把握することは、とても無理ですが。 こうして、あなたがたはついに、神ご自身によって満たされるのです。
20 どうか、私たちのなしうるかぎりの祈り、願い、考え、望みを無限に超えて、つまり、私たちが大胆に願い求め、夢見ることもはるかに及ばないすばらしいことを、その偉大な力でなされる神様に、栄光がありますように。 21 どうか、キリスト・イエスによって、教会に救いの計画をもたらしてくださった神様に、栄光が永遠にありますように。 アーメン。
Ephesians 3
1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus in behalf of you Gentiles,--2 if so be that ye have heard of the dispensation of that grace of God which was given me to you-ward;3 how that by revelation was made known unto me the mystery, as I wrote before in few words,4 whereby, when ye read, ye can perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ;5 which in other generations was not made known unto the sons of men, as it hath now been revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;6 to wit, that the Gentiles are fellow-heirs, and fellow-members of the body, and fellow-partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel,7 whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power.8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach unto the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;9 and to make all men see what is the dispensation of the mystery which for ages hath been hid in God who created all things;10 to the intent that now unto the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places might be made known through the church the manifold wisdom of God,11 according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:12 in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.13 Wherefore I ask that ye may not faint at my tribulations for you, which are your glory.14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father,15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,18 may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,19 and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled unto all the fulness of God.20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,21 unto him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever.
