2. La vida cristiana (4.1–6.20)
La iglesia, un solo cuerpo
1 Por esto, yo, preso por la causa del Señor,t os ruego que os portéis como deben hacerlo quienes han sido llamados por Dios,t como lo fuisteis vosotros. 2 Sed humildes y amables; tened paciencia y soportaos unos a otros con amor.t 3 Procurad manteneros siempre unidos, con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo y por medio de la paz que ya os une. 4 Hay un solo cuerpot y un solo Espíritu, así como una sola es la esperanza a la que Dios os ha llamado. 5 Hay un solo Señor, una sola fe y un solo bautismo;
6 hay un solo Dios y Padre de todos, que está sobre todos, actúa por medio de todos y está en todos.t t
7 Pero cada uno de nosotros hemos recibido los dones que Cristo nos ha querido dar.t
8 Por eso, la Escritura dice:
“Subió al cielo llevando consigo a los cautivos,
y dio dones a los hombres.”t
9 ¿Y qué quiere decir eso de que “subió”? Pues quiere decir que primero bajó a lo más profundo de la tierra.t 10 El que bajó es el mismo que también subió a lo más alto del cielo para llenarlo todo con su presencia. 11 Y él mismo concedió a unos ser apóstoles, y a otros, profetas;t a otros anunciar el evangelio, y a otros ser pastores y maestros.t 12 Así preparó a los suyos para un acto de servicio, para la edificación del cuerpo de Cristot 13 hasta que todos lleguemos a estar unidos en la fe y en el conocimiento del Hijo de Dios. De ese modo alcanzaremos la edad y el desarrollo que corresponden a la plena madurez de Cristo. 14 Ya no seremos como niños, que cambian fácilmente de parecer y son arrastrados por el viento de cualquier nueva enseñanza hasta dejarse engañar por gente astuta que anda por caminos equivocados. 15 Antes bien, diciendo la verdad con amor debemos crecer en todo hacia Cristo, que es la cabeza del cuerpo.t
16 Y por Cristo el cuerpo entero se ajusta y se liga bien mediante la unión de todas sus partes; y cuando cada parte funciona bien, todo el cuerpo va creciendo y edificándose en amor.tLa nueva vida en Cristo
17 Así pues, en el nombre del Señor os digo y encargo que no viváis más como los paganos, que viven de acuerdo con sus vanos pensamientos 18 y tienen oscurecido el entendimiento. No gozan de la vida que procede de Dios, porque son ignorantes a causa de lo insensible de su corazón. 19 Se han endurecido y se han entregado al vicio, cometiendo sin freno toda clase de acciones impuras.t 20 Pero vosotros no conocisteis a Cristo para vivir de ese modo, 21 si es que realmente oísteis acerca de él; esto es, si de Jesús aprendisteis en qué consiste la verdad. 22 En cuanto a vuestra antigua manera de vivir, despojaos de vuestra vieja naturaleza, que está corrompida por los malos deseos engañosos.t 23 Debéis renovaros en vuestra mente y en vuestro espíritu,t
24 y revestiros de la nueva naturaleza, creada a imagen de Diost y que se manifiesta en una vida recta y pura, fundada en la verdad.Aplicaciones prácticas
25 Por lo tanto no mintáis más, sino que cada uno sea veraz cuando hable con su prójimo,t porque todos somos miembros de un mismo cuerpo.t
26 Si os enojáis, no pequéis:t procurad que el enojo no os dure todo el día.t
27 No deis oportunidad al diablo.
28 El que robaba, deje de robar y póngase a trabajar, realizando un buen trabajot con sus manos para que tenga algo que compartir con los necesitados.t
29 No digáis palabras groseras, sino solo palabras buenas y oportunas que ayuden a crecer y traigan bendición a quienes las escuchen.t
30 No hagáis entristecer al Espíritu Santo de Dios,t con el que habéis sido selladost para distinguiros como propiedad de Dios el día de vuestra liberación definitiva.t
31 Echad fuera de vosotros la amargura, las pasiones, el enojo, los gritos, los insultos y toda clase de maldad. 32 Sed buenos y compasivos unos con otros, y perdonaos unos a otros como Dios os perdonó en Cristo.t
Ephesians 4
Live in Unity
1 I, therefore, the prisoner for the Lord,t urge you to livet worthily of the calling with which you have been called,s2 with all humility and gentleness,t with patience, bearing witht one another in love,3 making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you too were called to the one hope of your calling,5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.8 Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he capturedtcaptives; he gave gifts to men,"s9 Now what is the meaning of “he ascended,” except that he also descendeds to the lower regions,s namely, the earth?t10 He, the very onet who descended, is also the one who ascended above all the heavens, in order to fill all things.11 It was het who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,s12 to equipt the saints for the work of ministry, that is,t to build up the body of Christ,13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God – a mature person, attaining tot the measure of Christ’s full stature.t14 Sot we are no longer to be children, tossed back and forth by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching by the trickery of people who craftily carry out their deceitful schemes.t15 But practicing the truth in love,t we will in all things grow up into Christ, who is the head.
16 From him the whole body grows, fitted and held togethert through every supporting ligament.t As each one does its part, the body grows in love.
Live in Holiness
17 So I say this, and insistt in the Lord, that you no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futilityt of their thinking.t18 They are darkened in their understanding,t being alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.19 Because they are callous, they have given themselves over to indecency for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.s20 But you did not learn about Christ like this,21 if indeed you heard about him and were taught in him, just as the truth is in Jesus.22 You were taught with reference to your former way of life to lay asidet the old man who is being corrupted in accordance with deceitful desires,23 to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and to put on the new man who has been created in God’s imaget – in righteousness and holiness that comes from truth.t
25 Therefore, having laid aside falsehood, each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor,s for we are members of one another.26 Be angry and do not sin;s do not let the sun go down on the cause of your anger.t27 Do not give the devil an opportunity.28 The one who steals must steal no longer; rather he must labor, doing good with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with the one who has need.29 You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need,t that it may give grace to those who hear.30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.31 You must put away every kind of bitterness, anger, wrath, quarreling, and evil, slanderous talk.
32 Instead,s be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.t
