EPISTOLA DI S. PAOLO AGLI EFESI 4
L'unità della fede
1 IO adunque, il prigionet, vi esorto nel Signore, che camminiate condegnamente alla vocazione, della quale siete stati chiamatit; 2 con ogni umiltà, e mansuetudine; con pazienza, comportandovi gli uni gli altri in caritàt;
3 studiandovi di serbar l'unità dello Spirito per il legame della pacet.
4 V'è un corpo unicot, e un unico Spiritot; come ancora voi siete stati chiamati in un'unica speranza della vostra vocazione. 5 V'è un unico Signoret, una fedet, un battesimot;
6 un Dio unico, e Padre di tuttit, il quale è sopra tutte le cose, e fra tutte le cose, e in tutti voit.
7 Ma a ciascun di noi è stata data la grazia, secondo la misura del dono di Cristot. 8 Per la qual cosa dice: Essendo salito in alto, egli ha menata in cattività moltitudine di prigionit, e ha dati de'~doni agli uominit. 9 Or quello: È salito, che cosa è altro, se non che prima ancora era disceso nelle parti più basse della terrat?
10 Colui che è disceso è quello stesso, il quale ancora è salito di sopra a tutti i cielit, acciocchè empia tutte le cose.
11 Ed egli stesso ha dati gli uni apostolit, e gli altri profetit, e gli altri evangelistit, e gli altri pastorit, e dottorit; 12 per lo perfetto adunamento de'~santi, per l'opera del ministerio, per l'edificazione del corpo di Cristot; 13 finchè ci scontriamo tutti nell'unità della fede, e della conoscenza del Figliuol di Diot, in uomo compiutot, alla misura della statura perfetta del corpo di Cristo. 14 Acciocchè non siam più bambinit, fiottando e trasportati da ogni vento di dottrinat, per la baratteria degli uomini, per la loro astuzia all'artificio, ed insidie dell'ingannot. 15 Ma che, seguitando verità in caritàt, cresciamo in ogni cosa in colui che è il capo, cioè in Cristot.
16 Dal quale tutto il corpo ben composto, e commesso insieme per tutte le giunture di cui è fornito, secondo la virtù che è nella misura di ciascun membro, prende il suo accrescimento alla propria edificazione in carità.La santità cristiana in opposizione ai corrotti costumi dei Gentili
17 QUESTO dico adunque, e protesto nel Signore, che voi non camminiate più come camminano ancora gli altri Gentilit, nella vanità della lor mentet; 18 intenebrati nell'intellettot, alieni dalla vita di Diot, per l'ignoranza che è in loro, per l'induramento del cuor loro. 19 I quali, essendo divenuti insensibili ad ogni doloret, si sono abbandonati alla dissoluzione, da operare ogni immondiziat, con insaziabile cupidità. 20 Ma voi non avete così imparato Cristo; 21 se pur l'avete udito, e siete stati in lui ammaestrati, secondo che la verità è in Gesù: 22 di spogliare, quant'è alla primiera condottat, l'uomo vecchiot, il qual si corrompe nelle concupiscenze della seduzione; 23 e d'essere rinnovati per lo Spirito della vostra mentet;
24 e d'esser vestiti dell'uomo nuovot, creato, secondo Iddio, in giustizia, e santità di veritàt.
25 Perciò, deposta la menzogna, parlate in verità ciascuno col suo prossimot; poichè noi siam membra gli uni degli altrit.
26 Adiratevi, e non peccatet; il sole non tramonti sopra il vostro cruccio.
27 E non date luogo al diavolot.
28 Chi rubava non rubi più; anzi più tosto fatichi, facendo qualche buona opera con le proprie manit, acciocchè abbia di che far parte a colui che ha bisognot.
29 Niuna parola malvagia esca dalla vostra boccat; ma, se ve n'è alcuna buona ad edificazionet, secondo il bisogno; acciocchè conferisca grazia agli ascoltantit.
30 E non contristate lo Spirito Santo di Diot, col quale siete stati suggellati per il giorno della redenzionet.
31 Sia tolta via da voi ogni amaritudinet, ed ira, e cruccio, e grido, e maldicenzat, con ogni malizia. 32 Ma siate gli uni inverso gli altri benigni, misericordiosit, perdonandovi gli uni gli altri, siccome ancora Iddio vi ha perdonati in Cristot.
Ephesians 4
Live in Unity
1 I, therefore, the prisoner for the Lord,t urge you to livet worthily of the calling with which you have been called,s2 with all humility and gentleness,t with patience, bearing witht one another in love,3 making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you too were called to the one hope of your calling,5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.8 Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he capturedtcaptives; he gave gifts to men,"s9 Now what is the meaning of “he ascended,” except that he also descendeds to the lower regions,s namely, the earth?t10 He, the very onet who descended, is also the one who ascended above all the heavens, in order to fill all things.11 It was het who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,s12 to equipt the saints for the work of ministry, that is,t to build up the body of Christ,13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God – a mature person, attaining tot the measure of Christ’s full stature.t14 Sot we are no longer to be children, tossed back and forth by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching by the trickery of people who craftily carry out their deceitful schemes.t15 But practicing the truth in love,t we will in all things grow up into Christ, who is the head.
16 From him the whole body grows, fitted and held togethert through every supporting ligament.t As each one does its part, the body grows in love.
Live in Holiness
17 So I say this, and insistt in the Lord, that you no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futilityt of their thinking.t18 They are darkened in their understanding,t being alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.19 Because they are callous, they have given themselves over to indecency for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.s20 But you did not learn about Christ like this,21 if indeed you heard about him and were taught in him, just as the truth is in Jesus.22 You were taught with reference to your former way of life to lay asidet the old man who is being corrupted in accordance with deceitful desires,23 to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and to put on the new man who has been created in God’s imaget – in righteousness and holiness that comes from truth.t
25 Therefore, having laid aside falsehood, each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor,s for we are members of one another.26 Be angry and do not sin;s do not let the sun go down on the cause of your anger.t27 Do not give the devil an opportunity.28 The one who steals must steal no longer; rather he must labor, doing good with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with the one who has need.29 You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need,t that it may give grace to those who hear.30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.31 You must put away every kind of bitterness, anger, wrath, quarreling, and evil, slanderous talk.
32 Instead,s be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.t
