Construire le corps du Christ dans l’unité et dans l’amour

1  tJe vous encourage donc, moi, le prisonnier dans le Seigneur, à vous comporter d’une manière digne de l’appel que vous avez reçu, 2 ten toute humilité et douceur, avec patience. Supportez-vous les uns les autres, dans l’amour,

3 ten vous efforçant de conserver l’unité de l’Esprit par le lien de la paix.

4  tIl y a un seul corps et un seul Esprit, tout comme vous avez aussi été appelés dans une seule espérance, celle de votre appel ;

5  til y a un seul Seigneur, une seule foi, un seul baptême,

6  tun seul Dieu et Père de tous,
qui est au-dessus de tous, par tous et en tous.
7  tMais à chacun de nous la grâce a été accordée selon la mesure du don du Christ.

8 tC’est pourquoi il dit :
Il est monté dans la hauteur,
il a emmené des captifs,
il a fait des dons aux humains.
9  tOr, que signifie :il est monté, sinon qu’il est aussi descendu dans les régions inférieures, sur la terre ?

10 tCelui qui est descendu, c’est le même qui est monté au-dessus de tous les cieux, afin de remplir tout.
11  tC’est lui qui a donné les uns comme apôtres, d’autres comme prophètes, d’autres comme annonciateurs de la bonne nouvelle, d’autres comme bergers et maîtres, 12 tafin de former les saints pour l’œuvre du ministère, pour la construction du corps du Christ, 13 tjusqu’à ce que nous soyons tous parvenus à l’unité de la foi et de la connaissance du Fils de Dieu, à l’état de l’homme adulte, à la mesure de la stature parfaite du Christ. 14 tAinsi nous ne serons plus des tout-petits ballottés par les flots et entraînés à tout vent d’enseignement, joués et égarés par la ruse et les manœuvres des gens ; 15 ten disant la vérité, dans l’amour, nous croîtrons à tous égards en celui qui est la tête, le Christ.

16 tC’est par lui que le corps tout entier, bien coordonné et uni grâce à toutes les jointures qui le desservent, met en œuvre sa croissance dans la mesure qui convient à chaque partie, pour se construire lui-même dans l’amour.

L’homme ancien et l’homme nouveau

19 tAyant perdu tout sens moral, ils se sont livrés à la débauche, pour commettre avec avidité toute sorte d’impureté.
20  tMais vous, ce n’est pas ainsi que vous avez appris le Christ, 21 tsi du moins c’est bien lui que vous avez entendu et si c’est en lui que vous avez été instruits, conformément à la vérité qui est en Jésus : 22 til s’agit de vous défaire de l’homme ancien qui correspond à votre conduite passée et qui périt sous l’effet des désirs trompeurs, 23 td’être renouvelés par l’Esprit dans votre intelligence

24 tet de revêtir l’homme nouveau, qui a été créé selon Dieu dans la justice et la sainteté que produit la vérité.
25  tRejetez donc le mensonge, etque chacun de vous parle avec vérité à son prochain ; car nous faisons partie les uns des autres. 26 tSi vous vous mettez en colère, ne péchez pas ; que le soleil ne se couche pas sur votre irritation ; 27 tne laissez pas de place au diable. 28 tQue le voleur ne vole plus ; qu’il se donne plutôt de la peine à travailler honnêtement de ses propres mains, pour avoir de quoi donner à celui qui est dans le besoin. 29 tQu’il ne sorte de votre bouche aucune parole malsaine mais, s’il en est besoin, une bonne parole qui soit constructive et communique une grâce à ceux qui l’entendent. 30 tN’attristez pas l’Esprit saint de Dieu, par lequel vous avez été scellés pour un jour de rédemption. 31 tQue toute amertume, animosité, colère, clameur, calomnie, ainsi que toute malfaisance, soient enlevées du milieu de vous. 32 tSoyez bons les uns envers les autres, pleins d’une tendre bienveillance ; faites-vous grâce, comme Dieu vous a fait grâce dans le Christ.

Ephesians 4

1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you to walk worthily of the calling wherewith ye were called,2 with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;3 giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling;5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.7 But unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men.9 (Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?10 He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)11 And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;12 for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:13 till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:14 that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;15 but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, even Christ;16 from whom all the body fitly framed and knit together through that which every joint supplieth, according to the working in due measure of each several part, maketh the increase of the body unto the building up of itself in love.17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart;19 who being past feeling gave themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.20 But ye did not so learn Christ;21 if so be that ye heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:22 that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;23 and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind,24 and put on the new man, that after God hath been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.25 Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:27 neither give place to the devil.28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have whereof to give to him that hath need.29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear.30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and railing, be put away from you, with all malice:32 and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.
