ความเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกันของพระกาย
1 เพราะฉะนั้น ข้าพเจ้าผู้เป็นนักโทษโดยเห็นแก่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า ขอวิงวอนพวกท่านให้ดำเนินชีวิตสมกับการทรงเรียกที่ท่านได้รับการทรงเรียกมานั้น 2 คือจงถ่อมใจและมีความสุภาพอ่อนโยนอยู่เสมอ จงอดทน จงอดกลั้นต่อกันและกันด้วยความรักt 3 จงพยายามรักษาความเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกันที่มาจากพระวิญญาณนั้น โดยมีสันติภาพเป็นเครื่องผูกพัน 4 มีกายเดียวและมีพระวิญญาณองค์เดียว เหมือนอย่างที่ท่านได้รับการทรงเรียกให้มาถึงความหวังเดียวในการทรงเรียกพวกท่านนั้น 5 มีองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าองค์เดียว ความเชื่อเดียว บัพติศมาเดียว 6 พระเจ้าองค์เดียวผู้เป็นพระบิดาของทุกคน พระองค์ทรงมีอำนาจเหนือtสรรพสิ่ง ทรงทำการผ่านtสรรพสิ่งและทรงอยู่ในทุกคน 7 แต่ว่าพระคุณนั้นประทานแก่เราแต่ละคนตามขนาดที่พระคริสต์ประทาน 8 ดังนั้นจึงมีพระวจนะว่า “เมื่อพระองค์เสด็จขึ้นไปสู่ที่สูง พระองค์ทรงนำเชลยกลุ่มใหญ่ไป และประทานของประทานแก่มนุษย์” t
9 (การที่กล่าวว่า “พระองค์เสด็จขึ้นไป” นั้น จะมีความหมายว่าอะไร ถ้าไม่ใช่ว่าพระองค์ได้เสด็จลงไปสู่เบื้องต่ำของแผ่นดินโลกแล้วด้วย? 10 พระองค์ผู้เสด็จลงไปนั้นก็คือผู้ที่เสด็จขึ้นไปสู่ที่สูงเหนือฟ้าสวรรค์ทั้งหมดนั่นเอง เพื่อจะเติมทุกสิ่งให้เต็มบริบูรณ์) 11 และพระองค์เองประทานให้บางคนเป็นอัครทูต บางคนเป็นผู้เผยพระวจนะ บางคนเป็นผู้ประกาศข่าวประเสริฐ บางคนเป็นศิษยาภิบาลและอาจารย์ 12 เพื่อเตรียมธรรมิกชนสำหรับการปรนนิบัติและการเสริมสร้างพระกายของพระคริสต์ 13 จนกว่าเราทุกคนจะบรรลุถึงความเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกันในความเชื่อและในความรู้ถึงพระบุตรของพระเจ้า บรรลุถึงความเป็นผู้ใหญ่ คือโตเต็มถึงขนาดความบริบูรณ์ของพระคริสต์ 14 เพื่อเราจะไม่เป็นเด็กอีกต่อไป ถูกซัดไปซัดมาและพัดไปพัดมาด้วยลมคำสั่งสอนทุกอย่าง ด้วยเล่ห์กลของมนุษย์ ตามอุบายที่ฉลาดในการล่อลวง 15 แต่ให้เรายึดถือtความจริงด้วยความรัก เพื่อจะเจริญขึ้นในทุกด้านสู่พระองค์ผู้เป็นศีรษะคือพระคริสต์ 16 เนื่องจากพระองค์นี้เอง ร่างกายทั้งหมดจึงได้รับการเชื่อมและประสานเข้าด้วยกันโดยทุกๆ ข้อต่อที่ประทานมานั้น และเมื่อแต่ละส่วนทำงานตามหน้าที่แล้วt ก็ทำให้ร่างกายเจริญและเสริมสร้างตนเองขึ้นด้วยความรัก
ชีวิตเก่าและชีวิตใหม่
17 เพราะฉะนั้น ข้าพเจ้าขอกล่าวเช่นนี้และยืนยันในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าว่า อย่าดำเนินชีวิตแบบเดียวกับที่พวกต่างชาติดำเนินกันอีกต่อไป คือมีใจจดจ่ออยู่กับสิ่งไร้สาระ 18 ความคิดของเขาทั้งหลายถูกทำให้มืดมนไป และเขาขาดจากชีวิตที่มาจากพระเจ้าเนื่องจากความไม่รู้ที่อยู่ในตัว และความแข็งกระด้างในจิตใจ 19 พวกเขาไม่มีความรู้สึกละอายและปล่อยตัวในการลามกเพื่อทำการโสโครกทุกแบบโดยปราศจากการเหนี่ยวรั้งตน 20 แต่ท่านทั้งหลายไม่ได้เรียนรู้ถึงพระคริสต์แบบนั้น 21 พวกท่านเคยฟังเรื่องของพระองค์แล้วอย่างแน่นอน และเคยได้รับการสอนเรื่องพระองค์ตามสัจธรรมที่อยู่ในพระเยซูแล้ว 22 คือได้รับการสอนให้ทิ้งตัวเก่าของพวกท่านtที่คู่กับการประพฤติแบบเดิม ซึ่งถูกตัณหาล่อลวงทำให้พินาศไป 23 และให้วิญญาณและจิตใจของพวกท่านได้รับการเปลี่ยนใหม่ 24 และรับการสอนให้สวมสภาพใหม่tซึ่งได้รับการสร้างขึ้นตามแบบของพระเจ้าtในความชอบธรรมและความบริสุทธิ์อย่างแท้จริง
กฎเกณฑ์สำหรับวิถีชีวิตใหม่
25 ดังนั้นจงละทิ้งความเท็จ “ให้พวกท่านแต่ละคนพูดความจริงกับเพื่อนบ้านของตน”t เพราะเราต่างเป็นอวัยวะของกันและกัน 26 “จะโกรธก็โกรธได้ แต่อย่าทำบาป” t อย่าให้ถึงตะวันตกแล้วยังโกรธอยู่ 27 อย่าให้โอกาสแก่มาร 28 คนที่เคยขโมยก็อย่าขโมยอีกต่อไป แต่จงใช้มือ [ของตน]tตรากตรำทำงานที่ดีดีกว่า เพื่อจะได้มีอะไรแจกจ่ายให้คนที่มีความจำเป็น 29 อย่าให้คำเลวร้ายออกจากปากของท่านทั้งหลาย แต่จงกล่าวคำดีๆ ที่เสริมสร้างและที่เหมาะกับความต้องการ เพื่อจะได้เป็นคุณแก่คนที่ได้ยิน 30 และอย่าทำให้พระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ของพระเจ้าเสียพระทัย ด้วยพระวิญญาณนั้นท่านได้รับการประทับตราไว้สำหรับวันที่จะได้รับการไถ่ 31 จงเอาความขมขื่น ความฉุนเฉียว ความโกรธ การทุ่มเถียง การพูดจาดูหมิ่น รวมทั้งการร้ายทุกอย่างออกไปจากพวกท่าน 32 แต่จงมีใจกรุณา ใจสงสาร และใจให้อภัยแก่กันและกัน เหมือนอย่างที่พระเจ้าทรงให้อภัยพวกท่านในพระคริสต์t
Ephesians 4
1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you to walk worthily of the calling wherewith ye were called,2 with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;3 giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling;5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.7 But unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men.9 (Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?10 He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)11 And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;12 for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:13 till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:14 that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;15 but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, even Christ;16 from whom all the body fitly framed and knit together through that which every joint supplieth, according to the working in due measure of each several part, maketh the increase of the body unto the building up of itself in love.17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart;19 who being past feeling gave themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.20 But ye did not so learn Christ;21 if so be that ye heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:22 that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;23 and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind,24 and put on the new man, that after God hath been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.25 Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:27 neither give place to the devil.28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have whereof to give to him that hath need.29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear.30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and railing, be put away from you, with all malice:32 and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.
