اِفسیوں 4
1 چنانچہ مَیں جو خداوند میں قیدی ہوں آپ کو تاکید کرتا ہوں کہ اُس زندگی کے مطابق چلیں جس کے لئے خدا نے آپ کو بُلایا ہے۔2 ہر وقت حلیم اور نرم دل رہیں، صبر سے کام لیں اور ایک دوسرے سے محبت رکھ کر اُسے برداشت کریں۔3 صلح سلامتی کے بندھن میں رہ کر روح کی یگانگت قائم رکھنے کی پوری کوشش کریں۔4 ایک ہی بدن اور ایک ہی روح ہے۔ یوں آپ کو بھی ایک ہی اُمید کے لئے بُلایا گیا۔5 ایک خداوند، ایک ایمان، ایک بپتسمہ ہے۔6 ایک خدا ہے، جو سب کا واحد باپ ہے۔ وہ سب کا مالک ہے، سب کے ذریعے کام کرتا ہے اور سب میں موجود ہے۔7 اب ہم سب کو اللہ کا فضل بخشا گیا۔ لیکن مسیح ہر ایک کو مختلف پیمانے سے یہ فضل عطا کرتا ہے۔8 اِس لئے کلامِ مُقدّس فرماتا ہے، ”اُس نے بلندی پر چڑھ کر قیدیوں کا ہجوم گرفتار کر لیا اور آدمیوں کو تحفے دیئے۔“9 اب غور کریں کہ چڑھنے کا ذکر کیا گیا ہے۔ اِس کا مطلب ہے کہ پہلے وہ زمین کی گہرائیوں میں اُترا۔10 جو اُترا وہ وہی ہے جو تمام آسمانوں سے اونچا چڑھ گیا تاکہ تمام کائنات کو اپنے آپ سے معمور کرے۔11 اُسی نے اپنی جماعت کو طرح طرح کے خادموں سے نوازا۔ بعض رسول، بعض نبی، بعض مبشر، بعض چرواہے اور بعض اُستاد ہیں۔12 اِن کا مقصد یہ ہے کہ مُقدّسین کو خدمت کرنے کے لئے تیار کیا جائے اور یوں مسیح کے بدن کی تعمیر و ترقی ہو جائے۔13 اِس طریقے سے ہم سب ایمان اور اللہ کے فرزند کی پہچان میں ایک ہو کر بالغ ہو جائیں گے، اور ہم مل کر مسیح کی معموری اور بلوغت کو منعکس کریں گے۔14 پھر ہم بچے نہیں رہیں گے، اور تعلیم کے ہر ایک جھونکے سے اُچھلتے پھرتے نہیں رہیں گے جب لوگ اپنی چالاکی اور دھوکے بازی سے ہمیں اپنے جالوں میں پھنسانے کی کوشش کریں گے۔15 اِس کے بجائے ہم محبت کی روح میں سچی بات کر کے ہر لحاظ سے مسیح کی طرف بڑھتے جائیں گے جو ہمارا سر ہے۔16 وہی نسوں کے ذریعے پورے بدن کے مختلف حصوں کو ایک دوسرے کے ساتھ جوڑ کر متحد کر دیتا ہے۔ ہر حصہ اپنی طاقت کے موافق کام کرتا ہے، اور یوں پورا بدن محبت کی روح میں بڑھتا اور اپنی تعمیر کرتا رہتا ہے۔17 پس مَیں خداوند کے نام میں آپ کو آگاہ کرتا ہوں کہ اب سے غیرایمان داروں کی طرح زندگی نہ گزاریں جن کی سوچ بےکار ہے18 اور جن کی سمجھ اندھیرے کی گرفت میں ہے۔ اُن کا اُس زندگی میں کوئی حصہ نہیں جو اللہ دیتا ہے، کیونکہ وہ جاہل ہیں اور اُن کے دل سخت ہو گئے ہیں۔19 بےحس ہو کر اُنہوں نے اپنے آپ کو عیاشی کے حوالے کر دیا۔ یوں وہ نہ بجھنے والی پیاس کے ساتھ ہر قسم کی ناپاک حرکتیں کرتے ہیں۔20 لیکن آپ نے مسیح کو یوں نہیں جانا۔21 آپ نے تو اُس کے بارے میں سن لیا ہے، اور اُس میں ہو کر آپ کو وہ سچائی سکھائی گئی جو عیسیٰ میں ہے۔22 چنانچہ اپنے پرانے انسان کو اُس کے پرانے چال چلن سمیت اُتار دینا، کیونکہ وہ اپنی دھوکے باز شہوتوں سے بگڑتا جا رہا ہے۔23 اللہ کو آپ کی سوچ کی تجدید کرنے دیں24 اور نئے انسان کو پہن لیں جو یوں بنایا گیا ہے کہ وہ حقیقی راست بازی اور قدوسیت میں اللہ کے مشابہ ہے۔25 اِس لئے ہر شخص جھوٹ سے باز رہ کر دوسروں سے سچ بات کرے، کیونکہ ہم سب ایک ہی بدن کے اعضا ہیں۔26 غصے میں آتے وقت گناہ مت کرنا۔ آپ کا غصہ سورج کے غروب ہونے تک ٹھنڈا ہو جائے،27 ورنہ آپ ابلیس کو اپنی زندگی میں کام کرنے کا موقع دیں گے۔28 چور اب سے چوری نہ کرے بلکہ خوب محنت مشقت کر کے اپنے ہاتھوں سے اچھا کام کرے۔ ہاں، وہ اِتنا کمائے کہ ضرورت مندوں کو بھی کچھ دے سکے۔29 کوئی بھی بُری بات آپ کے منہ سے نہ نکلے بلکہ صرف ایسی باتیں جو دوسروں کی ضروریات کے مطابق اُن کی تعمیر کریں۔ یوں سننے والوں کو برکت ملے گی۔30 اللہ کے مُقدّس روح کو دُکھ نہ پہنچانا، کیونکہ اُسی سے اللہ نے آپ پر مُہر لگا کر یہ ضمانت دے دی ہے کہ آپ اُسی کے ہیں اور نجات کے دن بچ جائیں گے۔31 تمام طرح کی تلخی، طیش، غصے، شور شرابہ، گالی گلوچ بلکہ ہر قسم کے بُرے رویے سے باز آئیں۔32 ایک دوسرے پر مہربان اور رحم دل ہوں اور ایک دوسرے کو یوں معاف کریں جس طرح اللہ نے آپ کو بھی مسیح میں معاف کر دیا ہے۔
Ephesians 4
1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you to walk worthily of the calling wherewith ye were called,2 with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;3 giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling;5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.7 But unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men.9 (Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?10 He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)11 And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;12 for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:13 till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:14 that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;15 but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, even Christ;16 from whom all the body fitly framed and knit together through that which every joint supplieth, according to the working in due measure of each several part, maketh the increase of the body unto the building up of itself in love.17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart;19 who being past feeling gave themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.20 But ye did not so learn Christ;21 if so be that ye heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:22 that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;23 and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind,24 and put on the new man, that after God hath been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.25 Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:27 neither give place to the devil.28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have whereof to give to him that hath need.29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear.30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and railing, be put away from you, with all malice:32 and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.
