五

1 子供が、かわいがってくれる父親を見ならうように、何をするにも神様を模範としなさい。　2 キリスト様の模範にならって、他人への思いやりに満ちあふれていなさい。　キリスト様の愛は、あなたがたの罪を取り除くために、ご自身をいけにえとして神様にささげるほど、深かったのです。　このキリスト様の愛の香ばしいかおりを、神様はお喜びになったのです。
3 あなたがたの間に、性的な罪や、不潔な行ない、貪欲があってはなりません。　そんなことで、だれからも非難されないようにしなさい。　4 汚らわしい話や、みだらな会話、下品な冗談は、あなたがたにふさわしくありません。　むしろ、互いに神様の恵みを心にとめて、感謝しなさい。
5 もうよくご存じと思いますが、キリスト様と神様との国に、汚れた人や貪欲な人は入れません。　貪欲な人は、実は偶像礼拝者であって、神様よりもこの世のものを愛して拝んでいるのです。　6 これらの罪の言いわけをする者たちに、だまされてはなりません。　神様の恐ろしい怒りは、こんな行ないをする者に片っぱしから下るからです。　7 彼らとのつき合いすら禁じます。　8 あなたがたの心は以前は暗やみにおおわれていましたが、今は主からの光にあふれています。　そのことを態度で示しなさい。　9 内面がこの光で輝いているのですから、良いこと、正しいこと、真実なことだけを行なうべきです。
10 日々の生活で、何が主に喜ばれることかを、わきまえなさい。11 悪と暗やみの無意味な快楽に身を任せてはいけません。　むしろそれを非難し、明るみに出しなさい。　12 神様を敬わない者たちが暗やみでふけっている快楽は、口にするのも恥ずかしいことです。　13 しかし、あなたがたがそれを明るみに出す時、光がその罪を照らし出して、正体をあばきます。　その実態の醜さに気づいて、そのうちの何人かは光の子供となるでしょう。　14 だからこそ、聖書にこう言われているのです。
「眠っている者よ。　目を覚ませ。
死人の中から起き上がれ。
そうすれば、キリストがあなたを照らされる。」
15-16 ですから、自分の行動によくよく注意しなさい。　今は困難な時代です。　愚か者にならないで、賢くなりなさい。　あらゆる機会を十分に生かして、正しい行ないをしなさい。　17 軽率に行動せず、主が望んでおられることを実行しなさい。　18 酒を飲みすぎてはいけません。　そこには多くの悪が潜んでいるからです。　むしろ、聖霊様に満たされ、支配していただきなさい。
19 詩篇と賛美歌を引用し、聖なる歌をうたい、心の中で主に向かって音楽をかなでつつ、互いに主について存分に語り合いなさい。　20 常に、あらゆることを、主イエス・キリストの名によって、父なる神に感謝しなさい。
21 互いに従順になって、キリスト様をたたえなさい。　22 妻は、主に従うのと同様に、夫に従いなさい。　23 なぜなら、キリスト様の体である教会がキリスト様にゆだねられているのと同じように、妻は夫にゆだねられているからです。　〔キリスト様は教会のために心を配り、その救い主となるために、実にいのちさえも投げ出されたのです。〕　24 そういうわけですから、妻は、教会がキリスト様に従うのと同じように、どんなことでも、喜んで夫に従わなければなりません。
25 また、夫は、教会のためにいのちを捨てるほどの愛を示されたキリスト様にならって、妻を愛しなさい。　26 キリスト様のその行為は、バプテスマ（洗礼）と神のことばで教会を洗いきよめ、きよく、汚れのないものとするためでした。　27 こうして、一点のしみも、しわも、何の傷もない、きよく完全な栄光の教会として、迎え入れようとされたのです。　28 これこそ、夫が妻に対してとるべき態度です。　つまり、夫は妻を、自分の体の一部のように愛さなければなりません。二人は一体なのですから、夫が妻を愛する時、実は自分自身を愛しているのです。　29-30 自分の体を憎む者はいません。　愛し、いたわるのが普通です。　それは、キリスト様が自分の体である教会をいたわってくださるのと同じです。　私たちは、その体の各部分なのです。
31 夫と妻が一体であることは、聖書もはっきり証言しています。「人は結婚する時、父母のもとを離れなければならない。　それは、完全に結びついて、二人が一心同体となるためである。」　32 これは、なかなか理解しにくいことですが、私たちがキリスト様の体の各部分であることを説明するには適切な例です。
33 そこで、もう一度言います。　夫は妻を、自分の体の一部のように愛しなさい。　そして妻は、夫を心から尊敬し、従いなさい。

Ephesians 5

1 Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;2 and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell.3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as becometh saints;4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, or jesting, which are not befitting: but rather giving of thanks.5 For this ye know of a surety, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.6 Let no man deceive you with empty words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience.7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them;8 For ye were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord: walk as children of light9 (for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),10 proving what is well-pleasing unto the Lord;11 and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them;12 for the things which are done by them in secret it is a shame even to speak of.13 But all things when they are reproved are made manifest by the light: for everything that is made manifest is light.14 Wherefore he saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine upon thee.15 Look therefore carefully how ye walk, not as unwise, but as wise;16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.17 Wherefore be ye not foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.18 And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;19 speaking one to another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;20 giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;21 subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ.22 Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, being himself the saviour of the body.24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything.25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,27 that he might present the church to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.28 Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself:29 for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church;30 because we are members of his body.31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.32 This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church.33 Nevertheless do ye also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she fear her husband.
