Éxodo 2

1 Un hombre de la casa de Leví fue y tomó por mujer a una hija de Leví.2 Y la mujer concibió y dio a luz un hijo; y viendo que era hermoso, lo escondió por tres meses.3 Pero no pudiendo ocultarlo por más tiempo, tomó una cestilla de juncos y la calafateó con asfalto y brea. Entonces puso al niño en ella, y la colocó entre los juncos a la orilla del Nilo.4 Y la hermana del niño se puso a lo lejos para ver qué le sucedería.

5 Y la hija de Faraón bajó a bañarse al Nilo, y mientras sus doncellas se paseaban por la ribera del río, vio la cestilla entre los juncos y mandó a una criada suya para que la trajera.
6 Al abrir la, vio al niño, y he aquí, el niño lloraba. Y le tuvo compasión, y dijo: Este es uno de los niños de los hebreos.7 Entonces la hermana del niño dijo a la hija de Faraón: ¿Quieres que vaya y te llame una nodriza de las hebreas para que te críe al niño?8 Y la hija de Faraón le respondió: Sí, ve. Y la muchacha fue y llamó a la madre del niño.9 Y la hija de Faraón le dijo: Llévate a este niño y críamelo, y yo te daré tu salario. Y la mujer tomó al niño y lo crió.

10 Cuando el niño creció, ella lo llevó a la hija de Faraón, y vino a ser hijo suyo; y le puso por nombre Moisés, diciendo: Pues lo he sacado de las aguas.
11 Y aconteció que en aquellos días, crecido ya Moisés, salió a donde sus hermanos y vio sus duros trabajos; y vio a un egipcio golpeando a un hebreo, a uno de sus hermanos.12 Entonces miró alrededor y cuando vio que no había nadie, mató al egipcio y lo escondió en la arena.13 Y al día siguiente salió y vio a dos hebreos que reñían, y dijo al culpable: ¿Por qué golpeas a tu compañero?14 Y él respondió: ¿Quién te ha puesto de príncipe o de juez sobre nosotros? ¿Estás pensando matarme como mataste al egipcio? Entonces Moisés tuvo miedo, y dijo: Ciertamente se ha divulgado el asunto.

15 Cuando Faraón se enteró del asunto, trató de matar a Moisés; pero Moisés huyó de la presencia de Faraón y se fue a vivir a la tierra de Madián, y allí se sentó junto a un pozo.
16 Y el sacerdote de Madián tenía siete hijas, las cuales fueron a sacar agua y llenaron las pilas para dar de beber al rebaño de su padre.17 Entonces vinieron unos pastores y las echaron de allí, pero Moisés se levantó y las defendió, y dio de beber a su rebaño.18 Cuando ellas volvieron a Reuel, su padre, él dijo: ¿Por qué habéis vuelto tan pronto hoy?19 Respondieron ellas: Un egipcio nos ha librado de mano de los pastores; y además, nos sacó agua y dio de beber al rebaño.20 Y él dijo a sus hijas: ¿Y dónde está? ¿Por qué habéis dejado al hombre? Invitadlo a que coma algo.21 Moisés accedió a morar con aquel hombre, y él dio su hija Séfora a Moisés.

22 Y ella dio a luz un hijo, y Moisés le puso por nombre Gersón, porque dijo: Peregrino soy en tierra extranjera.
23 Y aconteció que pasado mucho tiempo, murió el rey de Egipto. Y los hijos de Israel gemían a causa de la servidumbre, y clamaron; y su clamor, a causa de su servidumbre, subió a Dios.24 Oyó Dios su gemido, y se acordó Dios de su pacto con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob.25 Y miró Dios a los hijos de Israel, y Dios los tuvo en cuenta.

Exodus 2

The Birth of the Deliverer

1 s A man from the householdt of Levi marriedt a woman who was a descendant of Levi.ts2 The woman became pregnantt and gave birth to a son. Whent she saw thatt he was a healthyt child, she hid him for three months.3 But when she was no longer able to hide him, she took a papyrus baskets for him and sealed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and set it among the reeds along the edge of the Nile.s

4 His sister stationed herselft at a distance to find outt what wouldt happen to him.
5 Then the daughter of Pharaohs came down to wash herselft by the Nile, while her attendants were walking alongside the river,s and she saw the basket among the reeds. She sent one of her attendants,t took it,t

6 opened it,t and saw the childt – a boy,t crying!t – and she felt compassiont for him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”
7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and gets a nursing womant for you from the Hebrews, so that she may nursets the child for you?”8 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Yes, do so.”t So the young girls went and gott the child’s mother.s

9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this childt and nurse him for me, and I will pay yourt wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.

10 When the child grew oldert she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son.t She named him Moses, saying, “Because I drew him from the water.”s

The Presumption of the Deliverer

11 s In those days,s whent Moses had grown up, he went out to his peoplet and observedts their hard labor, and he saw an Egyptian man attackingt a Hebrew man, one of his own people.t12 He looked this way and thatt and saw that no one was there,t and then he attackeds the Egyptian and concealed the bodyt in the sand.

13 When he went outt the next day,t there weret two Hebrew men fighting. So he said to the one who was in the wrong,t “Why are you attackingt your fellow Hebrew?”s
14 The mant replied, “Who made you a rulert and a judge over us? Are you planningt to kill me like you killed thatt Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid, thinking,t “Surely what I didt has become known.”

15 When Pharaoh heardt about this event,t he sought to kill Moses. So Moses fledt from Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian,s and he settledt by a certain well.t
16 Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came and began to drawt watert and fillt the troughs in order to water their father’s flock.17 When somet shepherds came and drove them away,ts Moses came up and defended thems and then watered their flock.18 So when they came homet to their father Reuel,s he asked, “Why have you come home so earlyts today?”19 They said, “An Egyptian man rescued uss from the shepherds,t and he actuallyt drew water for us and watered the flock!”

20 He saidt to his daughters, “So where is he?t Why in the worldt did you leave the man? Call him, so that he may eatt a mealt with us.”
21 Moses agreedt to stay with the man, and he gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage.t

22 When she boret a son, Mosest named him Gershom, for he said, “I have become a resident foreigner in a foreign land.”s

The Call of the Deliverer

23 s Duringt that long period of timet the king of Egypt died, and the Israelitest groaned because of the slave labor. They cried out, and their desperate cryt because of their slave labor went up to God.24 God heard their groaning,s God remembereds his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob,

25 God sawt the Israelites, and God understood….t
