De hellige klærne til prestene

1 Av den blå og purpurrøde og karmosinrøde ull laget de embetsklær til tjenesten i helligdommen. Og de laget de hellige klærne som Aron skulle ha, slik som Herren hadde befalt Moses. s2 Efoden* laget de av gull og blå og purpurrød og karmosinrød ull og fint, tvunnet lingarn. t3 De hamret ut gullet til plater og klippet det opp til tråder, så en kunne veve det inn i den blå og purpurrøde og karmosinrøde ullen og i det fine lingarnet, med kunstvevning. 4 De laget skulderstykker som ble festet til hverandre. Med dem ble den hektet sammen i begge ender. 5 Beltet som hører til og holder den sammen, laget de i ett stykke med den og i samme slags vevning, av gull og blå og purpurrød og karmosinrød ull og fint, tvunnet lingarn, slik som Herren hadde befalt Moses. 6 Så laget de onyks-steinene i stand og satte dem inn i flettverk av gull. På dem var navnene på Israels barn inngravert, som på et signet. 7 Og de satte dem på efodens skulderstykker, for at de skulle minne om Israels barn, slik som Herren hadde befalt Moses. 8 Så laget de brystduken i kunstvevning, i samme slags vevning som efoden, av gull og blå og purpurrød og karmosinrød ull og fint, tvunnet lingarn. 9 Den var firkantet og lagt dobbelt, et spann lang og et spann bred var den og lagt dobbelt. 10 Og de satte på den fire rader med steiner. I en rad var det en karneol, en topas og en smaragd, det var den første raden. 11 I den andre raden var det en karfunkel, en safir og en diamant. 12 I den tredje raden var det en hyasint, en agat og en ametyst. 13 Og i den fjerde raden var det en krysolitt, en onyks og en jaspis. De ble innfattet i hver sitt flettverk av gull. 14 Steinene var tolv i tallet etter navnene på Israels sønner, en for hvert navn. På hver stein var navnet på en av de tolv stammene inngravert, som på et signet. 15 Til brystduken laget de også kjeder av rent gull, tvunnet som snorer.

16 Likeså laget de to flettverk av gull og to gullringer, og de satte de to ringene på hver sitt hjørne av brystduken,

17 og de festet de to gullkjedene i de to ringene på hjørnene av brystduken. 18 De to andre endene av kjedene festet de i to flettverk, og festet dem så i efodens skulderstykker på fremsiden. 19 Så laget de to gullringer og satte dem på de to andre hjørnene av brystduken, på innersiden av den, den som vender inn mot efoden.

20 De laget to gullringer til, og satte dem på efodens to skulderstykker nederst på fremsiden, der hvor den festes sammen, ovenfor efodens belte.21 Ringene på brystduken bandt de til ringene på efoden med en snor av blå ull, så brystduken satt ovenfor efodens belte og ikke kunne skilles fra efoden - slik som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

22 Så laget de ytterkappen som hører til efoden, av vevd arbeid, helt igjennom av blå ull. 23 Midt på ytterkappen var det en åpning, som åpningen på en brynje, og rundt omkring åpningen var det en bord, for at den ikke skulle bli revet i stykker.

24 På ytterkappens kant nederst satte de granatepler av tvunnet blå og purpurrød og karmosinrød ull. 25 Og de laget bjeller av rent gull, og satte bjellene rundt omkring hele kanten nederst på ytterkappen, mellom granateplene.

26 Det var en bjelle og et granateple, og så igjen en bjelle og et granateple, og slik rundt omkring hele kanten nederst på ytterkappen, som var til bruk ved tjenesten, slik som Herren hadde befalt Moses. 27 Så laget de vevde kapper av fint lin til Aron og hans sønner,

28 og luen av fint lin og de høye luene av fint lin til pryd og lerretsbenklærne av fint, tvunnet lingarn, 29 og beltet av fint, tvunnet lingarn og blå og purpurrød og karmosinrød ull i kunstsøm, slik som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

30 Så laget de platen, det hellige hodesmykket, av rent gull. Og de skrev på den, slik som en graverer i signet: Helliget Herren. s31 Og de satte en snor av blå ull i den for å feste den til luen øverst, slik som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

Tabernaklet fullføres

32 Slik ble hele arbeidet med tabernaklet, sammenkomstens telt, fullendt. Israels barn gjorde det i ett og alt slik som Herren hadde befalt Moses. 33 Og de overga tabernaklet til Moses: teltet med alt som hørte til det, krokene, plankene, tverrstengene og stolpene og fotstykkene

34 og varetaket av rødfargede værskinn og varetaket av takasskinn og det dekkende forhenget, 35 vitnesbyrdets ark med sine stenger og nådestolen, 36 bordet med alt som hørte til, og skuebrødene, 37 lysestaken av rent gull med lampene som skulle settes i rad, og alt som hørte til, og oljen til lysestaken 38 og det gullkledde alteret og salvingsoljen og den velluktende røkelsen og teppet for inngangen til teltet, 39 kobberalteret og kobbergitteret til det, stengene og alt som hørte til, vaskekaret med sitt fotstykke, 40 omhengene til forgården, stolpene og fotstykkene og teppet til forgårdens port, snorene og pluggene og alle de ting som skulle brukes til tjenesten i tabernaklet, sammenkomstens telt, 41 embetsklærne til tjenesten i helligdommen, de hellige klærne til Aron, presten, og presteklærne til hans sønner. s42 Som Herren hadde befalt Moses, slik gjorde Israels barn i ett og alt hele arbeidet. 43 Og Moses så på alt det som var gjort, og se, nå var det ferdig. I alle deler hadde de gjort det slik som Herren hadde befalt. Og Moses velsignet dem.

Exodus 39

The Making of the Priestly Garments

1 From the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn they made woven garments for serving in the sanctuary; they made holy garments that were for Aaron, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.s

The Ephod

2 He made the ephod of gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen.3 They hammered the gold into thin sheets and cut it into narrow strips to weavet them into the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and into the fine linen, the work of an artistic designer.4 They made shoulder pieces for it, attached to two of its corners, so it could be joined together.

5 The artistically woven waistband of the ephod that was on it was like it, of one piece with it,t of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
6 They set the onyx stones in gold filigree settings, engraved as with the engravings of a sealt with the names of the sons of Israel.s

7 He putt them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as stones of memorial for the Israelites, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

The Breastpiece of Decision

8 He made the breastpiece, the work of an artistic designer, in the same fashion as the ephod, of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet, and fine twisted linen.9 It was square – they made the breastpiece doubled, nine inches long and nine inches wide when doubled.10 They set on itt four rows of stones: a row with a ruby, a topaz, and a beryl – the first row;11 and the second row, a turquoise, a sapphire, and an emerald;12 and the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;13 and the fourth row, a chrysolite, an onyx, and a jasper. They were enclosed in gold filigree settings.

14 The stones were for the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, corresponding to the number oft their names. Each name corresponding to one of the twelve tribes was like the engravings of a seal.
15 They made for the breastpiece braided chains like cords of pure gold,16 and they made two gold filigree settings and two gold rings, and they attached the two rings to the uppert two ends of the breastpiece.17 They attached the two gold chains to the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece;18 the othert two ends of the two chains they attached to the two settings, and they attached them to the shoulder pieces of the ephod at the front of it.19 They made two rings of gold and put them on the othert two ends of the breastpiece on its edge, which is on the inner side of the ephod.t20 They made two moret gold rings and attached them to the bottom of the two shoulder pieces on the front of the ephod, close to the juncture above the waistband of the ephod.

21 They tied the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod by blue cord, so that it was above the waistband of the ephod, so that the breastpiece would not be loose from the ephod, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

The Other Garments

22 He made the robe of the ephod completely blue, the work of a weaver.23 There was an opening in the center of the robe, like the opening of a collar, with an edge all around the opening so that it could not be torn.24 They made pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and twisted linent around the hem of the robe.25 They made bells of pure gold and attached the bells between the pomegranates around the hem of the robe between the pomegranates.

26 There wast a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate, all around the hem of the robe, to be used in ministering,t just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
27 They made tunics of fine linen – the work of a weaver, for Aaron and for his sons –28 and the turban of fine linen, the headbands of fine linen, and the undergarments of fine twisted linen.29 The sash was of fine twisted linen and blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, the work of an embroiderer, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.30 They made a plate, the holy diadem, of pure gold and wrote on it an inscription, as on the engravings of a seal, “Holiness to the Lord.”

31 They attached to it a blue cord, to attach it to the turban above, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Moses Inspects the Sanctuary

32 s So all the work of the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, was completed, and the Israelites did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses – they did it exactly so.33 They brought the tabernacle to Moses, the tent and all its furnishings, clasps, frames, bars, posts, and bases;34 and the coverings of ram skins dyed red, the covering of fine leather,t and the protectingt curtain;35 the ark of the testimony and its poles, and the atonement lid;36 the table, all its utensils, and the Bread of the Presence;37 the puret lampstand, its lamps, with the lamps set in order, and all its accessories, and oil for the light;38 and the gold altar, and the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense; and the curtain for the entrance to the tent;39 the bronze altar and its bronze grating, its poles, and all its utensils; the large basin with its pedestal;40 the hangings of the courtyard, its posts and its bases, and the curtain for the gateway of the courtyard, its ropes and its tent pegs, and all the furnishingst for the service of the tabernacle, for the tent of meeting;

41 the woven garments for servingt in the sanctuary, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to minister as priests.
42 The Israelites did all the work according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses.

43 Moses inspectedt all the work – andt they had done it just as the Lord had commanded – they had done it exactly – and Moses blessed them.s
