第1章
1 第三十年四月五日に、わたしがケバル川のほとりで、捕囚の人々のうちにいた時、天が開けて、神の幻を見た。2 これはエホヤキン王の捕え移された第五年であって、その月の五日に、3 主の言葉がケバル川のほとり、カルデヤびとの地でブジの子祭司エゼキエルに臨み、主の手がその所で彼の上にあった。4 わたしが見ていると、見よ、激しい風と大いなる雲が北から来て、その周囲に輝きがあり、たえず火を吹き出していた。その火の中に青銅のように輝くものがあった。5 またその中から四つの生きものの形が出てきた。その様子はこうである。彼らは人の姿をもっていた。6 おのおの四つの顔をもち、またそのおのおのに四つの翼があった。7 その足はまっすぐで、足のうらは子牛の足のうらのようであり、みがいた青銅のように光っていた。8 その四方に、そのおのおのの翼の下に人の手があった。この四つの者はみな顔と翼をもち、9 翼は互に連なり、行く時は回らずに、おのおの顔の向かうところにまっすぐに進んだ。10 顔の形は、おのおのその前方に人の顔をもっていた。四つの者は右の方に、ししの顔をもち、四つの者は左の方に牛の顔をもち、また四つの者は後ろの方に、わしの顔をもっていた。11 彼らの顔はこのようであった。その翼は高く伸ばされ、その二つは互に連なり、他の二つをもってからだをおおっていた。12 彼らはおのおのその顔の向かうところへまっすぐに行き、霊の行くところへ彼らも行き、その行く時は回らない。13 この生きもののうちには燃える炭の火のようなものがあり、たいまつのように、生きものの中を行き来している。火は輝いて、その火から、いなずまが出ていた。14 生きものは、いなずまのひらめきのように速く行き来していた。15 わたしが生きものを見ていると、生きもののかたわら、地の上に輪があった。四つの生きものおのおのに、一つずつの輪である。16 もろもろの輪の形と作りは、光る貴かんらん石のようである。四つのものは同じ形で、その作りは、あたかも、輪の中に輪があるようである。17 その行く時、彼らは四方のいずれかに行き、行く時は回らない。18 四つの輪には輪縁と輻とがあり、その輪縁の周囲は目をもって満たされていた。19 生きものが行く時には、輪もそのかたわらに行き、生きものが地からあがる時は、輪もあがる。20 霊の行く所には彼らも行き、輪は彼らに伴ってあがる。生きものの霊が輪の中にあるからである。21 彼らが行く時は、これらも行き、彼らがとどまる時は、これらもとどまり、彼らが地からあがる時は、輪もまたこれらと共にあがる。生きものの霊が輪の中にあるからである。22 生きものの頭の上に水晶のように輝く大空の形があって、彼らの頭の上に広がっている。、23 大空の下にはまっすぐに伸ばした翼があり、たがいに相連なり、生きものはおのおの二つの翼をもって、からだをおおっている。24 その行く時、わたしは大水の声、全能者の声のような翼の声を聞いた。その声の響きは大軍の声のようで、そのとどまる時は翼をたれる。25 また彼らの頭の上の大空から声があった。彼らが立ちとどまる時は翼をおろした。26 彼らの頭の上の大空の上に、サファイヤのような位の形があった。またその位の形の上に、人の姿のような形があった。27 そしてその腰とみえる所の上の方に、火の形のような光る青銅の色のものが、これを囲んでいるのを見た。わたしはその腰とみえる所の下の方に、火のようなものを見た。そして彼のまわりに輝きがあった。28 そのまわりにある輝きのさまは、雨の日に雲に起るにじのようであった。主の栄光の形のさまは、このようであった。わたしはこれを見て、わたしの顔をふせたとき、語る者の声を聞いた。
Ezekiel 1
A Vision of God’s Glory
1 In the thirtieth year,s on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiless at the Kebar River,s the heavens openeds and I saw a divine vision.t2 (On the fifth day of the month – it was the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s exile –
3 the word of the Lord came to the priest Ezekiels the son of Buzi,t at the Kebar River in the land of the Babylonians.t The handts of the Lord came on him there).
4 As I watched, I noticedt a windstorms coming from the north – an enormous cloud, with lightning flashing,t such that bright lightt rimmed it and came froms it like glowing ambert from the middle of a fire.5 In the fires were what looked liket four living beings.t In their appearance they had human form,s6 but each had four faces and four wings.7 Their legs were straight, but the soles of their feet were like calves’ feet. They gleameds like polished bronze.8 They had human handss under their wings on their four sides. As for the faces and wings of the four of them,
9 their wings touched each other; they did not turn as they moved, but went straight ahead.t
10 Their faces had this appearance: Each of the four had the face of a man, with the face of a lion on the right, the face of an ox on the left and also the face of an eagle.s11 Their wings were spread out above them; each had two wings touching the wings of one of the other beings on either side and two wings covering their bodies.12 Each moved straight aheadt – wherever the spiritt would go, they would go, without turning as they went.13 In the middles of the living beings was something likess burning coals of fires or like torches. It moved back and forth among the living beings. It was bright, and lightning was flashing out of the fire.
14 The living beings moved backward and forward as quickly as flashes of lightning.st
15 Then I looked,s and I saw one wheels on the groundt beside each of the four beings.16 The appearance of the wheels and their constructions was like gleaming jasper,t and all four wheels looked alike. Their structure was like a wheel within a wheel.t17 When they moved they would go in any of the four directions they faced without turning as they moved.
18 Their rims were high and awesome,s and the rims of all four wheels were full of eyes all around.
19 When the living beings moved, the wheels beside them moved; when the living beings rose up from the ground, the wheels rose up too.20 Wherever the spiritt would go, they would go,s and the wheels would rise up beside them because the spiritt of the living being was in the wheel.
21 When the living beings moved, the wheels moved, and when they stopped moving, the wheels stopped.st When they rose up from the ground, the wheels rose up from the ground; the wheels rose up beside them because the spirit of the living being was in the wheel.
22 Over the heads of the living beings was something like a platform,t glittering awesomely like ice,t stretched out over their heads.23 Under the platform their wings were stretched out, each toward the other. Each of the beings also had two wings coverings its body.
24 When they moved, I heard the sound of their wings – it was like the sound of rushing waters, or the voice of the Almighty,t or the tumultt of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.
25 Then there was a voice from above the platform over their heads when they stood still.s26 Above the platform over their heads was something like a sapphire shaped like a throne. High above on the throne was a form that appeared to be a man.27 I saw an amber glowt like a fire enclosed all arounds from his waist up. From his waist down I saw something that looked like fire. There was a brilliant light around it,
28 like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds after the rain.s This was the appearance of the surrounding brilliant light; it looked like the glory of the Lord. When I sawt it, I threw myself face down, and I heard a voice speaking.
