Ezekiel 2
Ezekiel’s Vision of a Scroll
1 He said to me, “Son of man, stand up, and I will speak to you.”
2 As he spoke to me, the Spirit entered me, stood me on my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.
3 He said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the people of Israel. They are people from a nation that has rebelled against me. They and their ancestors have rebelled against me to this day.4 I am sending you to these defiant and stubborn children. Tell them, ‘This is what the Almighty Lord says.’5 Whether these rebellious people listen or not, they will realize that a prophet has been among them.6 Son of man, don’t be afraid of them or the things they say. Don’t be afraid, even though thorns and thistles are around you and you live among scorpions. Don’t let the things they say frighten you. Don’t be terrified in their presence, even though they are rebellious people.7 Speak my words to them whether they listen or not, because they are rebellious.
8 But you, son of man, listen to what I say. Don’t be rebellious like those rebellious people. Open your mouth, and eat what I am giving to you.”
9 As I looked, I saw a hand stretched out toward me. In it was a scroll.
10 He spread the scroll in front of me. There was writing on the front and back. There were funeral songs, songs of mourning, and horrible things written on it.
Ezekiel 2
Ezekiel’s Commission
1 He said to me, “Son of man,s stand on your feet and I will speak with you.”
2 As he spoke to me,s a windt came into me and stood me on my feet, and I heard the one speaking to me.
3 He said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the houses of Israel, to rebellious nationss who have rebelled against me; both they and their fathers have revoltedst against me to this very day.4 The peoplet to whom I am sending you are obstinate and hard-hearted,s and you must say to them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says.’t5 And as for them,t whether they listent or not – for they are a rebellioust houses – they will know that a prophet has been among them.6 But you, son of man, do not fear them, and do not fear their words – even though brierst and thornsts surround you and you live among scorpions – do not fear their words and do not be terrified of the looks they give you,t for they are a rebellious house!7 You must speak my words to them whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious.
8 As for you, son of man, listen to what I am saying to you: Do not rebel like that rebellious house! Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you.”
9 Then I looked and realized a hand was stretched out to me, and in it was a written scroll.
10 He unrolled it before me, and it had writing on the frontt and back;s written on it were laments, mourning, and woe.
