Ezechiele 29

1 L’anno decimo, il decimo mese, il dodicesimo giorno del mese, la parola dell’Eterno mi fu rivolta in questi termini:2 "Figliuol d’uomo, volgi la tua faccia contro Faraone, re d’Egitto, e profetizza contro di lui e contro l’Egitto tutto quanto;3 parla e di’: Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Eccomi contro di te, Faraone, re d’Egitto, gran coccodrillo, che giaci in mezzo ai tuoi fiumi, e dici: Il mio fiume è mio, e sono io che me lo son fatto!4 Io metterò dei ganci nelle tue mascelle, e farò sì che i pesci de’ tuoi fiumi s’attaccheranno alle tue scaglie, e ti trarrò fuori di mezzo ai tuoi fiumi, con tutti i pesci de’ tuoi fiumi attaccati alle tue scaglie.5 E ti getterò nel deserto, te e tutti i pesci de’ tuoi fiumi, e tu cadrai sulla faccia de’ campi; non sarai né adunato né raccolto, e io ti darò in pasto alle bestie della terra e agli uccelli del cielo.6 E tutti gli abitanti dell’Egitto conosceranno che io sono l’Eterno, perché essi sono stati per la casa d’Israele un sostegno di canna.7 Quando t’hanno preso in mano tu ti sei rotto e hai forato loro tutta la spalla, e quando si sono appoggiati su di te tu ti sei spezzato e li hai fatti stare tutti ritti sui loro fianchi.

8 Perciò, così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Ecco, io farò venire sopra di te la spada e sterminerò in mezzo a te uomini e bestie:9 il paese d’Egitto sarà ridotto in una desolazione, in un deserto, e si conoscerà che io sono l’Eterno, perché Faraone ha detto: Il fiume è mio, e son io che l’ho fatto!10 Perciò, eccomi contro di te e contro il tuo fiume; e ridurrò il paese d’Egitto in un deserto, in una desolazione, da Migdol a Syene, fino alle frontiere dell’Etiopia.11 Non vi passerà piè d’uomo, non vi passerà piè di bestia, né sarà più abitato per quarant’anni;12 e ridurrò il paese d’Egitto in una desolazione in mezzo a contrade desolate, e le sue città saranno una desolazione, per quarant’anni, in mezzo a città devastate; e disperderò gli Egiziani fra le nazioni, e li spargerò per tutti i paesi.

13 Poiché, così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Alla fine dei quarant’anni io raccoglierò gli Egiziani di fra i popoli dove saranno stati dispersi,14 e farò tornare gli Egiziani dalla loro cattività e li condurrò nel paese di Patros, nel loro paese natìo, e quivi saranno un umile regno.15 L’Egitto sarà il più umile dei regni, e non si eleverà più sopra le nazioni; e io ridurrò il loro numero, perché non dominino più sulle nazioni;16 e la casa d’Israele non riporrà più la sua fiducia in quelli che le ricorderanno l’iniquità da lei commessa quando si volgeva verso di loro; e si conoscerà che io sono il Signore, l’Eterno".

17 E il ventisettesimo anno, il primo mese, il primo giorno del mese, la parola dell’Eterno mi fu rivolta in questi termini:18 "Figliuol d’uomo, Nebucadnetsar, re di Babilonia, ha fatto fare al suo esercito un duro servizio contro Tiro; ogni testa n’è divenuta calva, ogni spalla scorticata; e né egli e né il suo esercito hanno ricavato da Tiro alcun salario del servizio ch’egli ha fatto contro di essa.19 Perciò così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Ecco, io do a Nebucadnetsar, re di Babilonia, il paese d’Egitto; ed egli ne porterà via le ricchezze, lo spoglierà d’ogni sua spoglia, vi prederà ciò che v’è da predare, e questo sarà il salario del suo esercito.20 Come retribuzione del servizio ch’egli ha fatto contro Tiro, io gli do il paese d’Egitto, poiché han lavorato per me, dice il Signore, l’Eterno.

21 In quel giorno io farò rispuntare la potenza della casa d’Israele, e darò a te di parlar liberamente in mezzo a loro, ed essi conosceranno che io sono l’Eterno".

Ezekiel 29

A Prophecy Against Egypt

1 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month,t the word of the Lord came to me:2 “Son of man, turn towardt Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.

3 Tell them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says:
“‘Look, I am againstt you, Pharaoh king of Egypt,
the great monstert lying in the midst of its waterways,
who has said, “My Nile is my own, I made it for myself.”s

4 I will put hooks in your jaws
and stick the fish of your waterways to your scales.
I will haul you up from the midst of your waterways,
and all the fish of your waterways will stick to your scales.

5 I will leave you in the wilderness,
you and all the fish of your waterways;
you will fall in the open field and will not be gathered up or collected.s
I have given you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the skies.

6 Then all those living in Egypt will know that I am the Lord
because they were a reed staffs for the house of Israel;

7 when they grasped you with their hand,t you broke and toret their shoulders,
and when they leaned on you, you splintered and caused their legs to be unsteady.t
8 “‘Therefore, this is what the sovereign Lord says: Look, I am about to bring a sword against you, and I will killt every person and every animal.

9 The land of Egypt will become a desolate ruin. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
Because he said, “The Nile is mine and I made it,”10 I am againstt you and your waterways. I will turn the land of Egypt into an utter desolate ruin from Migdols to Syene,s as far as the border with Ethiopia.11 No human foot will pass through it, and no animal’s foot will pass through it; it will be uninhabited for forty years.

12 I will turn the land of Egypt into a desolation in the midst of desolate lands; for forty years her cities will lie desolate in the midst of ruined cities. I will scatter Egypt among the nations and disperse them among foreign countries.
13 “‘For this is what the sovereign Lord says: At the end of forty yearss I will gather Egypt from the peoples where they were scattered.14 I will restore the fortunes of Egypt, and will bring them backs to the land of Pathros, to the land of their origin; there they will be an insignificant kingdom.15 It will be the most insignificant of the kingdoms; it will never again exalt itself over the nations. I will make them so small that they will not rule over the nations.

16 It will never again be Israel’s source of confidence, but a reminder of how they sinned by turning to Egypt for help.t Then they will know that I am the sovereign Lord.’”
17 In the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first day of the month,s the word of the Lord came to me:18 “Son of man, King Nebuchadrezzart of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre.ss Every head was rubbed bald and every shoulder rubbed bare; yet he and his army received no wages from Tyre for the work he carried out against it.19 Therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says: Look, I am about to give the land of Egypt to King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon. He will carry off her wealth, capture her loot, and seize her plunder; it will be his army’s wages.20 I have given him the land of Egypt as his compensation for attacking Tyret, because they did it for me, declares the sovereign Lord.

21 On that day I will make Israel powerful,t and I will give you the right to be heardt among them. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”
