Ezechiele 39

1 E tu, figliuol d’uomo, profetizza contro Gog, e di’: Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Eccomi da te, o Gog, principe sovrano di Mescec e di Tubal!2 Io ti menerò via, ti spingerò innanzi, ti farò salire dalle estremità del settentrione e ti condurrò sui monti d’Israele;3 butterò giù l’arco dalla tua mano sinistra, e ti farò cadere le frecce dalla destra.4 Tu cadrai sui monti d’Israele, tu con tutte le tue schiere e coi popoli che saranno teco; ti darò in pasto agli uccelli rapaci, agli uccelli d’ogni specie, e alle bestie de’ campi.5 Tu cadrai sulla faccia de’ campi, poiché io ho parlato, dice il Signore, l’Eterno.6 E manderò il fuoco su Magog e su quelli che abitano sicuri nelle isole; e conosceranno che io sono l’Eterno.7 E farò conoscere il mio nome santo in mezzo al mio popolo d’Israele, e non lascerò più profanare il mio nome santo; e le nazioni conosceranno che io sono l’Eterno, il Santo in Israele.

8 Ecco, la cosa sta per avvenire, si effettuerà, dice il Signore, l’Eterno; questo è il giorno di cui io ho parlato.9 E gli abitanti delle città d’Israele usciranno e faranno de’ fuochi, bruciando armi, scudi, targhe, archi, frecce, picche e lance; e ne faranno del fuoco per sette anni;10 non porteranno legna dai campi, e non ne taglieranno nelle foreste; giacché faran del fuoco con quelle armi; e spoglieranno quelli che li spogliavano, e prederanno quelli che li predavano, dice il Signore, l’Eterno.

11 In quel giorno, io darò a Gog un luogo che gli servirà di sepoltura in Israele, la Valle de’ viandanti, a oriente del mare; e quel sepolcro chiuderà la via ai viandanti; quivi sarà sepolto Gog con tutta la sua moltitudine; e quel luogo sarà chiamato la Valle d’Hamon-Gog.12 La casa d’Israele li sotterrerà per purificare il paese; e ciò durerà sette mesi.13 Tutto il popolo del paese li sotterrerà; e per questo ei salirà in fama il giorno in cui mi glorificherò, dice il Signore, l’Eterno.14 E metteranno da parte degli uomini i quali percorreranno del continuo il paese a sotterrare, con l’aiuto de’ viandanti, i corpi che saran rimasti sul suolo del paese, per purificarlo; alla fine dei sette mesi faranno questa ricerca.15 E quando i viandanti passeranno per il paese, chiunque di loro vedrà delle ossa umane, rizzerà lì vicino un segnale, finché i seppellitori non li abbiano sotterrate nella Valle di Hamon-Gog.16 E Hamonah sarà pure il nome di una città. E così purificheranno il paese.

17 E tu, figliuol d’uomo, così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Di’ agli uccelli d’ogni specie e a tutte le bestie dei campi: Riunitevi, e venite! Raccoglietevi da tutte le parti attorno al banchetto del sacrificio che sto per immolare per voi, del gran sacrificio sui monti d’Israele! Voi mangerete carne e berrete sangue.18 Mangerete carne di prodi e berrete sangue di principi della terra: montoni, agnelli, capri, giovenchi, tutti quanti ingrassati in Basan.19 Mangerete del grasso a sazietà, e berrete del sangue fino a inebriarvi, al banchetto del sacrificio che io immolerò per voi;20 e alla mia mensa sarete saziati di carne di cavalli e di bestie da tiro, di prodi e di guerrieri d’ogni sorta, dice il Signore, l’Eterno.21 E io manifesterò la mia gloria fra le nazioni, e tutte le nazioni vedranno il giudizio che io eseguirò, e la mia mano che metterò su loro.22 E da quel giorno in poi la casa d’Israele conoscerà che io sono l’Eterno, il suo Dio;

23 e le nazioni conosceranno che la casa d’Israele è stata menata in cattività a motivo della sua iniquità, perché m’era stata infedele; ond’io ho nascosto a loro la mia faccia, e li ho dati in mano de’ loro nemici; e tutti quanti son caduti per la spada.24 Io li ho trattati secondo la loro impurità e secondo le loro trasgressioni, e ho nascosto loro la mia faccia.25 Perciò, così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Ora io farò tornare Giacobbe dalla cattività, e avrò pietà di tutta la casa d’Israele, e sarò geloso del mio santo nome.26 Ed essi avran finito di portare il loro obbrobrio e la pena di tutte le infedeltà che hanno commesse contro di me, quando dimoreranno al sicuro nel loro paese, e non vi sarà più alcun che li spaventi;27 quando li ricondurrò di fra i popoli e li raccoglierò dai paesi de’ loro nemici, e mi santificherò in loro in presenza di molte nazioni;28 ed essi conosceranno che io sono l’Eterno, il loro Dio, quando, dopo averli fatti andare in cattività fra le nazioni, li avrò raccolti nel loro paese; e non lascerò più là più alcuno d’essi;29 e non nasconderò più loro la mia faccia, perché avrò sparso il mio spirito sulla casa d’Israele, dice il Signore, l’Eterno".

Ezekiel 39

1 “As for you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say: ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Look, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal!2 I will turn you around and drag you along;t I will lead you up from the remotest parts of the north and bring you against the mountains of Israel.3 I will knock your bow out of your left hand and make your arrows fall from your right hand.4 You will fall dead on the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the people who are with you. I give you as food to every kind of bird and every wild beast.5 You will fall dead in the open field; for I have spoken, declares the sovereign Lord.

6 I will send fire on Magog and those who live securely in the coastlands; then they will know that I am the Lord.
7 “‘I will make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.s

8 Realize that it is coming and it will be done, declares the sovereign Lord. It is the day I have spoken about.
9 “‘Then those who live in the cities of Israel will go out and use the weapons for kindlingt – the shields,t bows and arrows, war clubs and spears – they will burn them for seven years.

10 They will not need to taket wood from the field or cut down trees from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons. They will take the loot from those who looted them and seize the plunder of those who plundered them,t declares the sovereign Lord.
11 “‘On that day I will assign Gog a grave in Israel. It will be the valley of those who travel east of the sea; it will block the way of the travelers. There they will bury Gog and all his horde; they will call it the valley of Hamon-Gog.t12 For seven months Israelt will bury them, in order to cleanse the land.13 All the people of the land will bury them, and it will be a memorialt for them on the day I magnify myself, declares the sovereign Lord.14 They will designate men to scout continuallyt through the land, burying those who remain on the surface of the ground,t in order to cleanse it. They will search for seven full months.15 When the scouts surveyt the land and see a human bone, they will place a sign by it, until those assigned to burial duty have buried itt in the valley of Hamon-Gog.

16 (A city by the name of Hamonaht will also be there.) They will cleanse the land.’
17 “As for you, son of man, this is what the sovereign Lord says: Tell every kind of bird and every wild beast: ‘Assemble and come! Gather from all around to my slaughtert which I am going to make for you, a great slaughter on the mountains of Israel! You will eat flesh and drink blood.18 You will eat the flesh of warriorss and drink the blood of the princes of the earth – the rams, lambs, goats, and bulls, all of them fattened animals of Bashan.19 You will eat fat until you are full, and drink blood until you are drunk,s at my slaughtert which I have made for you.

20 You will fill up at my table with horses and charioteers,t with warriors and all the soldiers,’ declares the sovereign Lord.
21 “I will display my majestyt among the nations. All the nations will witness the judgment I have executed, and the power I have exhibitedt among them.22 Then the house of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God, from that day forward.23 The nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile due to their iniquity,t for they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies; all of them died by the sword.

24 According to their uncleanness and rebellion I have dealt with them, and I hid my face from them.
25 “Therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says: Now I will restoret the fortunes of Jacob, and I will have mercy on the entire house of Israel. I will be zealous for my holy name.26 They will bear their shame for all their unfaithful acts against me, when they live securely on their land with no one to make them afraid.27 When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will magnify myself among them in the sight of many nations.28 Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, because I sent them into exile among the nations, and then gathered them into their own land. I will not leave any of them in exilet any longer.

29 I will no longer hide my face from them, when I pour out my Spirit on the house of Israel,s declares the sovereign Lord.”
