Galater 3

1 O ihr unverständigen Galater, wer hat euch verzaubert , dass ihr der Wahrheit nicht gehorcht, euch, denen Jesus Chri-stus als unter euch gekreuzigt vor die Augen gemalt worden ist?2 Das allein will ich von euch erfahren: Habt ihr den Geist durch Werke des Gesetzes empfangen oder durch die Verkündigung vom Glauben?3 Seid ihr so unverständig? Im Geist habt ihr angefangen und wollt es nun im Fleisch vollenden?4 So viel habt ihr umsonst erlitten? Wenn es wirklich umsonst ist!5 Der euch nun den Geist darreicht und Kräfte in euch wirken lässt t , [tut er es] durch Werke des Gesetzes oder durch die Verkündigung vom Glauben?6 Gleichwie Abraham Gott geglaubt hat und es ihm zur Gerechtigkeit angerechnet wurde,7 so erkennt auch: Die aus Glauben sind, diese sind Abrahams Kinder.8 Da es nun die Schrift voraussah, dass Gott die Heiden aus Glauben rechtfertigen würde, hat sie dem Abraham im Voraus das Evangelium verkündigt: »In dir sollen alle Völker gesegnet werden« . t9 So werden nun die, welche aus Glauben sind, gesegnet mit dem gläubigen Abraham.10 Denn alle, die aus Werken des Gesetzes sind, t die sind unter dem Fluch; denn es steht geschrieben: »Verflucht ist jeder, der nicht bleibt in allem, was im Buch des Gesetzes geschrieben steht, um es zu tun« . t11 Dass aber durch das Gesetz niemand vor Gott gerechtfertigt wird, ist offenbar; denn »der Gerechte wird aus Glauben leben« . t12 Das Gesetz aber ist nicht aus Glauben, sondern: »Der Mensch, der diese Dinge tut, wird durch sie leben« . t13 Christus hat uns losgekauft von dem Fluch des Gesetzes, indem er ein Fluch wurde um unsertwillen (denn es steht geschrieben: »Verflucht ist jeder, der am Holz hängt« t ),14 damit der Segen Abrahams zu den Heiden komme in Christus Jesus, damit wir durch den Glauben den Geist empfingen, der verheißen worden war.15 Brüder, ich rede nach Menschenweise : Sogar das Testament eines Menschen hebt niemand auf oder verordnet etwas dazu, wenn es bestätigt ist.16 Nun aber sind die Verheißungen dem Abraham und seinem Samen t zugesprochen worden. Es heißt nicht: »und den Samen«, als von vielen, sondern als von einem: »und deinem Samen«, und dieser ist Christus .17 Das aber sage ich: Ein von Gott auf Christus hin zuvor bestätigtes Testament wird durch das 430 Jahre danach entstandene Gesetz nicht ungültig gemacht, sodass die Verheißung aufgehoben würde.18 Denn wenn das Erbe durchs Gesetz käme, so käme es nicht mehr durch Verheißung; dem Abraham aber hat es Gott durch Verheißung geschenkt.19 Wozu nun das Gesetz? Der Übertretungen wegen wurde es hinzugefügt, bis der Same käme, dem die Verheißung gilt, und es ist durch Engel übermittelt worden in die Hand eines Mittlers .20 Ein Mittler aber ist nicht [Mittler] von einem ; t Gott aber ist einer .21 Ist nun das Gesetz gegen die Verheißungen Gottes? Das sei ferne! Denn wenn ein Gesetz gegeben wäre, das lebendig machen könnte, so käme die Gerechtigkeit wirklich aus dem Gesetz.22 Aber die Schrift hat alles unter die Sünde zusammengeschlossen, damit die Verheißung aufgrund des Glaubens an Jesus Christus denen gegeben würde, die glauben.23 Bevor aber der Glaube kam, wurden wir unter dem Gesetz verwahrt und verschlossen auf den Glauben hin, der geoffenbart werden sollte.24 So ist also das Gesetz unser Lehrmeister t geworden auf Christus hin, damit wir aus Glauben gerechtfertigt würden.25 Nachdem aber der Glaube gekommen ist, sind wir nicht mehr unter dem Lehrmeister;26 denn ihr alle seid durch den Glauben Söhne Gottes in Christus Jesus; t27 denn ihr alle, die ihr in Christus hinein t getauft seid, ihr habt Christus angezogen.28 Da ist weder Jude noch Grieche, da ist weder Knecht noch Freier, da ist weder Mann noch Frau; denn ihr seid alle einer in Christus Jesus.29 Wenn ihr aber Christus angehört , so seid ihr Abrahams Same und nach der Verheißung Erben .

GALATIANS 3

Faith Is the Only Way

1 You stupid Galatians! I told you exactly how Jesus Christ was nailed to a cross. Has someone now put an evil spell on you? 2 I want to know only one thing. How were you given God's Spirit? Was it by obeying the Law of Moses or by hearing about Christ and having faith in him? 3 How can you be so stupid? Do you think that by yourself you can complete what God's Spirit started in you? 4 Have you gone through all of this for nothing? Is it all really for nothing?

5 God gives you his Spirit and works miracles in you. But does he do this because you obey the Law of Moses or because you have heard about Christ and have faith in him?
6  t The Scriptures say that God accepted Abraham because Abraham had faith. 7 t And so, you should understand that everyone who has faith is a child of Abraham.t 8 t Long ago the Scriptures said God would accept the Gentiles because of their faith. This is why God told Abraham the good news that all nations would be blessed because of him.

9 This means everyone who has faith will share in the blessings given to Abraham because of his faith.
10  t Anyone who tries to please God by obeying the Law is under a curse. The Scriptures say, “Everyone who doesn't obey everything in the Law is under a curse.”

11 t No one can please God by obeying the Law. The Scriptures also say, “The people God accepts because of their faith will live.”t
12  t The Law isn't based on faith. It promises life only to people who obey its commands. 13 t But Christ rescued us from the Law's curse, when he became a curse in our place. This is because the Scriptures say that anyone who is nailed to a tree is under a curse.

14 And because of what Jesus Christ has done, the blessing promised to Abraham was taken to the Gentiles. This happened so that by faith we would be given the promised Holy Spirit.

The Law and the Promise

18 t If we have to obey the Law in order to receive God's blessings, those blessings don't really come to us because of God's promise. But God was kind to Abraham and made him a promise.
19 What is the use of the Law? It was given later to show that we sin. But it was only supposed to last until the coming of that descendantt who was given the promise. In fact, angels gave the Law to Moses, and he gave it to the people.

20 There is only one God, and the Law did not come directly from him.

Slaves and Children

22 But the Scriptures say that sin controls everyone, so that God's promises will be for anyone who has faith in Jesus Christ.
23 The Law controlled us and kept us under its power until the time came when we would have faith. 24 In fact, the Law was to be our teacher until Christ came. Then we could have faith and be acceptable to God.

25 But once a person has learned to have faith, there is no more need to have the Law as a teacher.
26 All of you are God's children because of your faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And when you were baptized, it was as though you had put on Christ in the same way you put on new clothes. 28 Faith in Christ Jesus is what makes each of you equal with each other, whether you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or a free person, a man or a woman. 29 t So if you belong to Christ, you are now part of Abraham's family, t and you will be given what God has promised.
