Prin credință

1 Galateni nesăbuiți! Cine v-a fermecat? Înaintea ochilor voștri Isus Cristos a fost înfățișat ca răstignit!2 Un singur lucru vreau să aflu de la voi: ați primit Duhul prin faptele Legii sau crezând ceea ce ați auzit?3 Sunteți chiar atât de nesăbuiți? Ați început prin Duhul, iar acum vreți să sfârșiți în fire?4 Ați suferit degeaba atâtea? – dacă într-adevăr a fost degeaba!5 Așadar, El v-a dat Duhul și a făcut minuni între voi pentru că ați făcut faptele Legii sau pentru că ați crezut ceea ce ați auzit?6 Tot astfel, „Avraam L-a crezut pe Dumnezeu, și El i-a socotit acest lucru dreptate.“t

7 Înțelegeți deci că fii ai lui Avraam sunt aceia care cred!8 Iar Scriptura, care a prevăzut că Dumnezeu va îndreptăți neamurile prin credință, i-a vestit mai dinainte lui Avraam Evanghelia: „Prin tine vor fi binecuvântate toate neamurile.“t9 Astfel, cei care cred sunt binecuvântați împreună cu Avraam cel credincios.10 Căci aceia care se bazează pe faptele Legii sunt sub blestem, deoarece este scris: „Blestemat este oricine nu stăruiește să împlinească toate lucrurile scrise în Cartea Legii!“t11 Este clar că nimeni nu este îndreptățit înaintea lui Dumnezeu prin Lege, pentru că „Cel drept va trăi prin credință“t,12 iar Legea nu se bazează pe credință, ci ea spune: „Cel ce face aceste lucruri va trăi prin ele.“t13 Cristos ne-a răscumpărat de sub blestemul Legii, devenind blestem pentru noi – căci este scris: „Blestemat este oricine e atârnat pe lemn.“t–14 pentru ca, în Cristos Isus, binecuvântarea dată lui Avraam să vină asupra neamurilor, ca să primim, prin credință, Duhul promis.

Legea și promisiunea

15 Fraților, să vorbesc în felul oamenilor: așa cum nimeni nu poate anula sau adăuga ceva la un legământ o dată ce a fost stabilit, la fel este și aici .16 Promisiunile i-au fost făcute lui Avraam și seminței lui; el nu spune „și semințelor“, ca și cum ar fi mai multe, ci se referă la una: „și seminței lui“t, care este Cristos.17 Ceea ce vreau să spun este aceasta: Legea, care a fost dată patru sute treizeci de ani mai târziu, nu poate desființa autoritatea unui legământ, care a fost stabilit mai înainte de către Dumnezeu, și astfel să anuleze promisiunea.18 Dacă moștenirea ar depinde de Lege, atunci nu ar mai depinde de promisiune; însă Dumnezeu i-a dat-o lui Avraam prin promisiune.19 Care este, atunci, scopul Legii? Ea a fost adăugată pentru a arăta ce este încălcarea Legii, până când va veni Sămânța celui căruia i-a fost făcută promisiunea. Legea a fost dată prin îngeri, printr-un mijlocitor.20 Un mijlocitor nu reprezintă o singură parte, însă Dumnezeu este Unul.

21 Aceasta înseamnă oare că Legea este împotriva promisiunilor lui Dumnezeu? Nicidecum! Căci, dacă ar fi fost dată o Lege care să poată da viața, atunci dreptatea ar fi venit prin Lege,22 însă Scriptura spune că întreaga lume este sub păcat, pentru ca promisiunea să le fie dată celor ce cred în Cristos Isus.

23 Înainte de a veni credința, noi eram sub paza Legii, închiși pentru credința care urma să fie descoperită.24 Astfel, Legea a fost îndrumătorult nostru spret Cristos, pentru ca noi să fim îndreptățiți prin credință.25 Dar acum, după ce a venit credința, nu mai suntem sub îndrumătorul acesta.

Copii ai lui Dumnezeu

26 În Cristos Isus, voi toți sunteți copii ai lui Dumnezeu, prin credință.27 Căci toți câți ați fost botezați în Cristos, v-ați îmbrăcat cu Cristos.28 Nu este nici iudeu, nici grec, nici sclav, nici om liber, nici bărbat, nici femeie, pentru că voi toți sunteți una în Cristos Isus.29 Iar dacă voi sunteți ai lui Cristos, atunci sunteți sămânța lui Avraam și moștenitori după promisiunea făcută.

GALATIANS 3

Faith Is the Only Way

1 You stupid Galatians! I told you exactly how Jesus Christ was nailed to a cross. Has someone now put an evil spell on you? 2 I want to know only one thing. How were you given God's Spirit? Was it by obeying the Law of Moses or by hearing about Christ and having faith in him? 3 How can you be so stupid? Do you think that by yourself you can complete what God's Spirit started in you? 4 Have you gone through all of this for nothing? Is it all really for nothing?

5 God gives you his Spirit and works miracles in you. But does he do this because you obey the Law of Moses or because you have heard about Christ and have faith in him?
6  t The Scriptures say that God accepted Abraham because Abraham had faith. 7 t And so, you should understand that everyone who has faith is a child of Abraham.t 8 t Long ago the Scriptures said God would accept the Gentiles because of their faith. This is why God told Abraham the good news that all nations would be blessed because of him.

9 This means everyone who has faith will share in the blessings given to Abraham because of his faith.
10  t Anyone who tries to please God by obeying the Law is under a curse. The Scriptures say, “Everyone who doesn't obey everything in the Law is under a curse.”

11 t No one can please God by obeying the Law. The Scriptures also say, “The people God accepts because of their faith will live.”t
12  t The Law isn't based on faith. It promises life only to people who obey its commands. 13 t But Christ rescued us from the Law's curse, when he became a curse in our place. This is because the Scriptures say that anyone who is nailed to a tree is under a curse.

14 And because of what Jesus Christ has done, the blessing promised to Abraham was taken to the Gentiles. This happened so that by faith we would be given the promised Holy Spirit.

The Law and the Promise

18 t If we have to obey the Law in order to receive God's blessings, those blessings don't really come to us because of God's promise. But God was kind to Abraham and made him a promise.
19 What is the use of the Law? It was given later to show that we sin. But it was only supposed to last until the coming of that descendantt who was given the promise. In fact, angels gave the Law to Moses, and he gave it to the people.

20 There is only one God, and the Law did not come directly from him.

Slaves and Children

22 But the Scriptures say that sin controls everyone, so that God's promises will be for anyone who has faith in Jesus Christ.
23 The Law controlled us and kept us under its power until the time came when we would have faith. 24 In fact, the Law was to be our teacher until Christ came. Then we could have faith and be acceptable to God.

25 But once a person has learned to have faith, there is no more need to have the Law as a teacher.
26 All of you are God's children because of your faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And when you were baptized, it was as though you had put on Christ in the same way you put on new clothes. 28 Faith in Christ Jesus is what makes each of you equal with each other, whether you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or a free person, a man or a woman. 29 t So if you belong to Christ, you are now part of Abraham's family, t and you will be given what God has promised.
