Gálatas 4

La Adopción es Sólo Mediante Jesucristo

1 Digo, pues: mientras el heredero es menor de edad, en nada es diferente del siervo, aunque sea el dueño (señor) de todo,2 sino que está bajo guardianes y tutores hasta la edad señalada por el padre.

3 Así también nosotros, mientras éramos niños, estábamos sujetos a servidumbre bajo las cosas elementales del mundo.
4 Pero cuando vino la plenitud (el cumplimiento) del tiempo, Dios envió a Su Hijo, nacido de mujer, nacido bajo la Ley,5 a fin de que redimiera a los que estaban bajo la Ley, para que recibiéramos la adopción de hijos.6 Y porque ustedes son hijos, Dios ha enviado el Espíritu de Su Hijo a nuestros corazones, clamando: "¡Abba! ¡Padre!"

7 Por tanto, ya no eres siervo, sino hijo; y si hijo, también heredero por medio de Dios.

No se Vuelvan a la Esclavitud

8 Pero en aquel tiempo, cuando ustedes no conocían a Dios, eran siervos de los que por naturaleza no son dioses.9 Pero ahora que conocen a Dios, o más bien, que son conocidos por Dios, ¿cómo es que se vuelven otra vez a las cosas débiles, inútiles (sin valor) y elementales, a las cuales desean volver a estar esclavizados de nuevo?10 Ustedes observan los días, los meses, las estaciones y los años.

11 Temo que quizá he trabajado en vano por ustedes.
12 Les ruego, hermanos, háganse como yo, pues yo también me he hecho como ustedes. Ningún agravio me han hecho.13 Pero saben que fue por causa de una enfermedad física que les prediqué (anuncié) el evangelio la primera vez.

14 Y lo que para ustedes fue una prueba en mi condición física, que no despreciaron ni rechazaron, sino que me recibieron como un ángel de Dios, como a Cristo Jesús mismo .
15 ¿Dónde está, pues, aquel sentido de bendición que tuvieron? Pues testigo soy en favor de ustedes de que de ser posible, se hubieran sacado los ojos y me los hubieran dado.16 ¿Me he vuelto, por tanto, enemigo de ustedes al decirles la verdad?17 Algunos les tienen celo, no con buena intención, sino que quieren excluirlos a fin de que ustedes muestren celo por ellos.18 Es bueno mostrar celo con buena intención siempre, y no sólo cuando yo estoy presente con ustedes.19 Hijos míos, por quienes de nuevo sufro dolores de parto hasta que Cristo sea formado en ustedes,

20 quisiera estar presente con ustedes ahora y cambiar mi tono, pues estoy perplejo en cuanto a ustedes.

Alegoría de la Libertad en Cristo

21 Díganme, los que desean estar bajo la ley, ¿no oyen a la ley?22 Porque está escrito que Abraham tuvo dos hijos, uno de la sierva y otro de la libre.

23 Pero el hijo de la sierva nació según la carne, y el hijo de la libre por medio de la promesa.
24 Esto contiene una alegoría, pues estas mujeres son dos pactos. Uno procede del Monte Sinaí que engendra hijos para ser esclavos; éste es Agar.25 Ahora bien, Agar es el Monte Sinaí en Arabia, y corresponde a la Jerusalén actual, porque ella está en esclavitud con sus hijos.26 Pero la Jerusalén de arriba es libre; ésta es nuestra madre.27 Porque escrito está: "Regocijate, oh esteril, la que no concibes; prorrumpe y clama, tu que no tienes dolores de parto, porque mas son los hijos de la desolada, que de la que tiene marido."

28 Y ustedes, hermanos, como Isaac, son hijos de la promesa.
29 Pero así como entonces el que nació según la carne persiguió al que nació según el Espíritu, así también sucede ahora.30 Pero, ¿qué dice la Escritura? "Echa fuera a la sierva y a su hijo, pues el hijo de la sierva no sera heredero con el hijo de la libre."31 Así que, hermanos, no somos hijos de la sierva, sino de la libre.

Galatians 4

1 But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he differeth nothing from a bondservant though he is lord of all;2 but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed of the father.3 So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the rudiments of the world:4 but when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,5 that he might redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.6 And because ye are sons, God sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father.7 So that thou art no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.8 Howbeit at that time, not knowing God, ye were in bondage to them that by nature are no gods:9 but now that ye have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how turn ye back again to the weak and beggarly rudiments, whereunto ye desire to be in bondage over again?10 Ye observe days, and months, and seasons, and years.11 I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain.12 I beseech you, brethren, become as I am, for I also am become as ye are. Ye did me no wrong:13 but ye know that because of an infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you the first time:14 and that which was a temptation to you in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but ye received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.15 Where then is that gratulation of yourselves? for I bear you witness, that, if possible, ye would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.16 So then am I become your enemy, by telling you the truth?17 They zealously seek you in no good way; nay, they desire to shut you out, that ye may seek them.18 But it is good to be zealously sought in a good matter at all times, and not only when I am present with you.19 My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ be formed in you--20 but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone; for I am perplexed about you.21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the handmaid, and one by the freewoman.23 Howbeit the son by the handmaid is born after the flesh; but the son by the freewoman is born through promise.24 Which things contain an allegory: for these women are two covenants; one from mount Sinai, bearing children unto bondage, which is Hagar.25 Now this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia and answereth to the Jerusalem that now is: for she is in bondage with her children.26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is our mother.27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; Break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: For more are the children of the desolate than of her that hath the husband.

28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, so also it is now.30 Howbeit what saith the scripture? Cast out the handmaid and her son: for the son of the handmaid shall not inherit with the son of the freewoman.31 Wherefore, brethren, we are not children of a handmaid, but of the freewoman.
