갈라디아서 5

1  그리스도께서 우리를 해방시켜 주셔서, 자유를 누리게 하셨습니다. 그러므로 굳게 서서, 다시는 종살이의 멍에를 메지 마십시오.

그리스도인의 자유

2 나 바울이 여러분에게 말합니다. 여러분이 할례를 받으면, 그리스도는 여러분에게 아무런 유익이 없습니다. 3 내가 할례를 받는 모든 사람에게 다시 증언합니다. 그런 사람은 율법 전체를 이행해야 할 의무를 지닙니다. 4 율법으로 의롭게 되려고 하는 사람은 그리스도에게서 끊어지고, 은혜에서 떨어져 나간 사람입니다. 5 그러나 우리는 성령을 힘입어서, 믿음으로 의롭다고 하심을 받을 소망을 간절히 기다리고 있습니다. 6 그리스도 예수 안에서는, 할례를 받거나 안 받는 것이 문제가 되는 것이 아닙니다. 가장 중요한 것은, t믿음이 사랑을 통하여 일하는 것입니다. 7 여러분은 지금까지 잘 달려왔습니다. 그런데 누가 여러분을 가로막아서, 진리를 따르지 못하게 하였습니까? 8 그런 꾐은 여러분을 부르신 분에게서 나온 것이 아닙니다. 9 적은 누룩이 반죽 전체를 부풀게 합니다. 10 나는 여러분이 다른 생각을 조금도 품지 않으리라는 것을 주님 안에서 확신합니다. 그러나 여러분을 교란시키는 사람은, 누구든지 심판을 받을 것입니다. 11 t형제자매 여러분, 내가 아직도 할례를 전한다면, 어찌하여 아직도 박해를 받겠습니까? 그렇다면, 십자가의 거리낌은 없어졌을 것입니다. 12 t할례를 가지고 여러분을 선동하는 사람들은, 차라리 자기의 그 지체를 잘라 버리는 것이 좋겠습니다. 13  t형제자매 여러분, 하나님께서는 여러분을 부르셔서, 자유를 누리게 하셨습니다. 그러나 여러분은 그 자유를 육체의 욕망을 만족시키는 구실로 삼지 말고, 사랑으로 서로 섬기십시오. 14 모든 율법은 t“네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하여라” 하신 한 마디 말씀 속에 다 들어 있습니다. 15 그런데 여러분이 서로 물어뜯고 잡아먹고 하면, 피차 멸망하고 말 터이니, 조심하십시오.

육체의 행실과 성령의 열매

16 내가 또 말합니다. 여러분은 성령께서 인도하여 주시는 대로 살아가십시오. 그러면 육체의 욕망을 채우려 하지 않을 것입니다. 17 육체의 욕망은 성령을 거스르고, 성령이 바라시는 것은 육체를 거스릅니다. 이 둘이 서로 적대관계에 있으므로, 여러분은 자기가 원하는 일을 할 수 없게 됩니다. 18 그런데 여러분이, 성령의 인도하심을 따라 살아가면, 율법 아래에 있는 것이 아닙니다. 19 육체의 행실은 환히 드러난 것들입니다. 곧 음행과 더러움과 방탕과 20 우상숭배와 마술과 원수맺음과 다툼과 시기와 분냄과 분쟁과 분열과 파당과 21 t질투와 술취함과 흥청망청 먹고 마시는 놀음과, 그와 같은 것들입니다. 내가 전에도 여러분에게 경고하였지만, 이제 또다시 경고합니다. 이런 짓을 하는 사람들은 하나님의 나라를 상속받지 못할 것입니다. 22 그러나 성령의 열매는 사랑과 기쁨과 화평과 인내와 친절과 선함과 신실과 23 온유와 절제입니다. 이런 것들을 막을 법이 없습니다. 24 그리스도 예수께 속한 사람은 정욕과 욕망과 함께 자기의 육체를 십자가에 못박았습니다. 25 우리가 성령으로 삶을 얻었으니, 우리는 성령이 인도해 주심을 따라 살아갑시다. 26 우리는 잘난 체하거나 서로 노엽게 하거나 질투하거나 하지 않도록 합시다.

GALATIANS 5

Christ Gives Freedom

1 Christ has set us free! This means we are really free. Now hold on to your freedom and don't ever become slaves of the Law again.
2 I, Paul, promise you that Christ won't do you any good if you get circumcised. 3 If you do, you must obey the whole Law. 4 And if you try to please God by obeying the Law, you have cut yourself off from Christ and his gift of undeserved grace. 5 But the Spirit makes us sure God will accept us because of our faith in Christ.

6 If you are a follower of Christ Jesus, it makes no difference whether you are circumcised or not. All that matters is your faith that makes you love others.
7 You were doing so well until someone made you turn from the truth. 8 And that person was certainly not sent by the one who chose you. 9 t A little yeast can change a whole batch of dough,

10 but you belong to the Lord. This makes me certain you will do what I say, instead of what someone else tells you to do. Whoever is causing trouble for you will be punished.
11 My friends, if I still preach that people need to be circumcised, why am I in so much trouble? The message about the cross would no longer be a problem, if I told people to be circumcised.

12 I wish everyone who is upsetting you would not only get circumcised, but would cut off much more!
13 My friends, you were chosen to be free. So don't use your freedom as an excuse to do anything you want. Use it as an opportunity to serve each other with love. 14 t All the Law says can be summed up in the command to love others as much as you love yourself.

15 But if you keep attacking each other like wild animals, you had better watch out or you will destroy yourselves.

God's Spirit //and Our Own Desires

16 If you are guided by the Spirit, you won't obey your selfish desires. 17 t The Spirit and your desires are enemies of each other. They are always fighting each other and keeping you from doing what you feel you should.

18 But if you obey the Spirit, the Law of Moses has no control over you.
19 People's desires make them give in to immoral ways, filthy thoughts, and shameful deeds. 20 They worship idols, practice witchcraft, hate others, and are hard to get along with. People become jealous, angry, and selfish. They not only argue and cause trouble, but they are

21 envious. They get drunk, carry on at wild parties, and do other evil things as well. I told you before, and I am telling you again: No one who does these things will share in the blessings of God's kingdom.
22 God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, 23 gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways. 24 And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires. 25 God's Spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the Spirit. 26 But don't be conceited or make others jealous by claiming to be better than they are.
