Gálatas 5

Permaneçam firmes na liberdade

1 Cristo nos libertou para que pudéssemos viver em liberdade. Permaneçam, pois, firmes e não se afastem, voltando para a escravidão da leit.2 Escutem! Eu, Paulo, lhes digo que, se vocês retornarem para a lei se deixando circuncidart, Cristo não terá nenhum valor para vocês.3 Mais uma vez aviso: Se vocês se deixam circuncidar, então terão que obedecer toda a lei,4 Vocês que estão procurando ser declarados justos através da lei estão desligados de Cristo; vocês se separaram da graçat de Deus.5 Mas nós, pela fé, temos a esperança de sermos declarados justos. Por isso, aguardamos ansiosamente esta esperança com a ajuda do Espírito.

6 Porque quando estamos em Cristo não importa se somos ou não somos circuncidados. O que realmente importa é a fé que age por meio do amor.
7 Vocês estavam indo tão bem! Por que, então, deixaram que alguém os impedisse de continuar a obedecer a verdade?8 O meio que ele usou para persuadir vocês não vem de Deus, que foi quem os chamou.9 Um pouco de fermento fermenta toda a massa!

10 Mas eu tenho confiança no Senhor de que vocês não acreditarão nessas idéias diferentes. Aquele que os perturba, porém, seja ele quem for, será castigado.
11 Irmãos, se eu ainda ensino que as pessoas têm que ser circuncidadast, então por que eu ainda sou perseguido? Se eu realmente ensinasse isso, então a mensagem a respeito da cruz, que é uma ofensa para muitos, não seria mais problema.

12 Eu gostaria que aqueles que estão perturbando vocês se castrassemt de uma vez!
13 Mas vocês, irmãos, foram chamados para viver em liberdade. Contudo, não deixem com que a liberdade de vocês se torne um pretexto para que façam o que agrada à natureza pecadora de vocês. Ao contrário, sirvam uns aos outros com amor.14 Pois toda a leit se resume num só mandamento: Ame o seu próximo como você ama a si mesmot.

15 Mas se continuarem se tratando como animais, ferindo e prejudicando uns aos outros, tenham cuidado para não se destruírem!

O Espírito e a natureza humana

16 Por isso eu digo: Deixem com que o Espíritot guie o comportamento de vocês. Assim não satisfarão os maus desejos da sua natureza pecadora.17 Pois, o que a nossa natureza pecadora deseja é contra o Espírito, e o que o Espírito deseja é contra a nossa natureza pecadora. Estas duas coisas são opostas entre si. Por isso vocês não podem fazer tudo o que gostariam de fazer.18 Mas, se é que vocês são guiados pelo Espírito, então não estão debaixo da leit.19 As obras da natureza pecadora são bem conhecidas. Elas são: imoralidade sexual, impureza, sensualidade,20 idolatria, bruxarias, ódio, brigas, ciúmes, iras, egoísmo, rixas, divisões,21 inveja, embriaguês, orgias e coisas iguais a estas. Eu já os avisei a respeito dessas coisas, e os aviso novamente: Aquelas pessoas que praticam essas coisas não vão herdar o reino de Deus.22 Mas o Espírito produz: Amor, alegria, paz, paciência, ternura, bondade, fidelidade,23 humildade e domínio próprio. Contra coisas como estas não há lei.24 Aqueles que pertencem a Jesus Cristo pregaram a sua natureza pecadora na cruz, juntamente com as suas paixões e desejos.25 Se é do Espírito que obtemos a nossa nova vida, então devemos seguir o Espírito.

26 Não devemos ser orgulhosos, nem provocar ninguém, e nem ter inveja uns dos outros.

Galatians 5

Walk by the Spirit

1 It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

2 Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.3 And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law.4 You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.5 For we through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.

7 You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?8 This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you.9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough. 10 I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear his judgment, whoever he is.11 But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.12 I wish that those who are troubling you would even mutilate themselves.

13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.26 Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.
