1 เพื่อเสรีภาพนั้นเองพระคริสต์จึงได้ทรงให้เราเป็นไท เพราะฉะนั้น จงตั้งมั่น และอย่าเข้าเทียมแอกของการเป็นทาสอีกเลย
เสรีภาพของคริสเตียน
2 นี่แน่ะ ข้าพเจ้าเปาโล ขอบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ถ้าท่านยอมเข้าสุหนัต พระคริสต์จะไม่ทรงเป็นประโยชน์อะไรให้แก่ท่านเลย 3 ข้าพเจ้าขอย้ำให้ทุกคนที่ยอมเข้าสุหนัตทราบอีกว่า เขาถูกผูกมัดให้ประพฤติตามธรรมบัญญัติทั้งสิ้น 4 ท่านทั้งหลายที่ปรารถนาจะถูกชำระให้ชอบธรรมโดยธรรมบัญญัติ ก็ถูกตัดขาดจากพระคริสต์ และหล่นจากพระคุณไปเสียแล้ว 5 เพราะว่าโดยพระวิญญาณและความเชื่อ เราก็รอคอยความชอบธรรมที่เราหวังว่าจะได้รับ 6 เพราะว่าในพระเยซูคริสต์นั้น การเข้าสุหนัตหรือไม่เข้าสุหนัตไม่เกิดประโยชน์อันใด แต่ความเชื่อซึ่งแสดงออกเป็นการกระทำด้วยความรักนั้นสำคัญ 7 ท่านกำลังก้าวหน้าtไปด้วยดีอยู่แล้ว ใครเล่ายับยั้งท่านไม่ให้เชื่อฟังความจริง? 8 การชักชวนอย่างนั้นไม่ได้มาจากพระองค์ผู้ทรงเรียกท่านทั้งหลาย 9 เชื้อtเพียงเล็กน้อยย่อมทำให้แป้งดิบฟูขึ้นได้ทั้งก้อนt 10 ข้าพเจ้ามีความมั่นใจในตัวท่านในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าว่า ท่านจะไม่มีความคิดอย่างอื่น แต่ผู้ที่มารบกวนท่านนั้น จะเป็นใครก็ตามจะต้องได้รับโทษ 11 พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ถ้าข้าพเจ้ายังเทศนาให้เข้าสุหนัต เหตุใดข้าพเจ้ายังคงถูกข่มเหงอยู่? กางเขนtก็ไม่เป็นอุปสรรคอีกต่อไป 12 ข้าพเจ้าอยากให้คนเหล่านั้นที่รบกวนท่าน ตอนตนเองtเสียด้วย
13 พี่น้องทั้งหลาย เพราะว่าท่านถูกเรียกให้มีเสรีภาพ ขอแต่เพียงอย่าถือโอกาสใช้เสรีภาพเพื่อทำตามเนื้อหนัง แต่จงรับใช้กันและกันด้วยความรักเถิด 14 เพราะว่าธรรมบัญญัติทั้งสิ้นนั้นสรุปได้เป็นคำเดียว คือว่า จงรักเพื่อนบ้านเหมือนรักตนเองt 15 แต่ถ้าท่านกัดและกินเนื้อกันและกัน จงระวังให้ดี ท่านจะย่อยยับไปด้วยกัน
ผลของพระวิญญาณและการงานของเนื้อหนัง
16 แต่ข้าพเจ้าขอบอกว่าจงดำเนินชีวิตตามพระวิญญาณ แล้วท่านจะไม่สนองความต้องการของเนื้อหนัง 17 เพราะว่าความต้องการของเนื้อหนังขัดแย้งพระวิญญาณ และพระวิญญาณก็ขัดแย้งเนื้อหนัง เพราะทั้งสองฝ่ายต่อสู้กัน ดังนั้นท่านทั้งหลายจึงไม่สามารถทำสิ่งที่ท่านปรารถนาจะทำt 18 แต่ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายได้รับการทรงนำโดยพระวิญญาณ ท่านก็ไม่อยู่ใต้ธรรมบัญญัติ 19 การงานของเนื้อหนังtนั้นเห็นได้ชัด คือการล่วงประเวณี การโสโครก การเสเพล 20 การนับถือรูปเคารพ การถือวิทยาคม การเป็นศัตรูกัน การวิวาทกัน การริษยากัน การฉุนเฉียวกัน การใฝ่สูง การทุ่มเถียงกัน การแตกก๊กกันt 21 การอิจฉากัน การเมาเหล้า การเล่นเป็นพาลเกเร และการอื่นๆ ในทำนองนี้ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าเคยเตือนพวกท่านมาก่อนว่า คนที่ประพฤติเช่นนั้นจะไม่มีส่วนในแผ่นดินของพระเจ้า 22 ส่วนผลของพระวิญญาณนั้น คือความรัก ความยินดี สันติสุข ความอดทน ความกรุณา ความดี ความซื่อสัตย์ 23 ความสุภาพอ่อนโยน การรู้จักบังคับตน เรื่องอย่างนี้ไม่มีธรรมบัญญัติห้ามไว้เลย 24 ผู้ที่อยู่ฝ่ายพระเยซูคริสต์ได้ตรึงเนื้อหนังไว้ที่กางเขนtพร้อมกับราคะและตัณหาแล้ว
25 ถ้าเรามีชีวิตอยู่โดยพระวิญญาณ ก็จงดำเนินชีวิตตามพระวิญญาณด้วย 26 เราอย่าอวดตัว อย่ายั่วโทสะกัน และอย่าอิจฉากันเลย
Galatians 5
1 For freedom did Christ set us free: stand fast therefore, and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage.2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that, if ye receive circumcision, Christ will profit you nothing.3 Yea, I testify again to every man that receiveth circumcision, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.4 Ye are severed from Christ, ye would be justified by the law; ye are fallen away from grace.5 For we through the Spirit by faith wait for the hope of righteousness.6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith working through love.7 Ye were running well; who hindered you that ye should not obey the truth?8 This persuasion came not of him that calleth you.9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.10 I have confidence to you-ward in the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.11 But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? then hath the stumbling-block of the cross been done away.12 I would that they that unsettle you would even go beyond circumcision.13 For ye, brethren, were called for freedom; only use not your freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through love be servants one to another.14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other; that ye may not do the things that ye would.18 But if ye are led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law.19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties,21 envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 meekness, self-control; against such there is no law.24 And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.25 If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also walk.26 Let us not become vainglorious, provoking one another, envying one another.
