Genesis 2
1 Tak bylo dokončeno nebe a země s veškerou jejich rozmanitostí.
2 Sedmého dne Bůh dokončil dílo, na němž pracoval; sedmého dne odpočinul od veškeré práce, kterou dělal. 3 Bůh sedmý den požehnal a posvětil jej, neboť v něm Bůh odpočinul od všeho díla, jež vykonal, když tvořil.
V Boží zahradě
4 To je příběh nebe a země, o jejich stvoření.
Tenkrát, když Hospodin Bůh učinil zemi a nebe, 5 na zemi ještě nebylo žádné polní křoví a nerostly žádné polní byliny. Hospodin Bůh na zem ještě nesesílal déšť a nebyl ani člověk, který by obdělával půdu. 6 Ze země však vystupovala pára a zavlažovala celý zemský povrch.
7 Hospodin Bůh pak z prachu země zformoval člověka a do jeho chřípí vdechl dech života. Tak se člověk stal živou bytostí.
8 Hospodin Bůh vysázel v Edenu na východě zahradu a do ní postavil člověka, jehož zformoval. 9 Hospodin Bůh nechal ze země vyrůst všelijaké stromy lákavé na pohled a dobré k jídlu, včetně stromu života uprostřed zahrady a stromu poznání dobra i zla.
10 Z Edenu vycházela řeka, aby zavlažovala zahradu, a odtud se rozdělovala do čtyř hlavních toků. 11 První se jmenuje Píšon. Obtéká celou zemi Chavílu, kde je zlato, 12 a zlato té země je výborné. Je tam i vonná pryskyřice bdelium a kámen onyx. 13 Druhá řeka se jmenuje Gíchon; ta obtéká celou zemi Habeš. 14 Třetí řeka se jmenuje Tigris a teče na východ od Asýrie. A čtvrtá řeka je Eufrat.
15 Hospodin Bůh tedy vzal člověka a usadil ho do zahrady Eden, aby ji obdělával a střežil. 16 Hospodin Bůh člověku přikázal: „Z každého stromu v zahradě můžeš svobodně jíst, 17 kromě stromu poznání dobra i zla. Z toho nejez, neboť v den, kdy bys z něj jedl, jistě zemřeš.“
18 Hospodin Bůh také řekl: „Není dobré, aby člověk byl sám; opatřím mu rovnocennou oporu.“
19 (Hospodin Bůh totiž zformoval ze země všechnu polní zvěř i všechno nebeské ptactvo a přivedl je k Adamovi, aby viděl, jak je pojmenuje. Jakkoli pak Adam nazval kterého živočicha, tak se jmenoval. 20 Adam tedy pojmenoval všechen dobytek, nebeské ptactvo i všechnu polní zvěř. Pro Adama se ale nenašla rovnocenná opora.)
21 Hospodin Bůh tedy na Adama přivedl hluboký spánek. Když usnul, vzal jedno z jeho žeber a zaplnil to místo tělem. 22 Z onoho žebra, které vzal z Adama, pak Hospodin Bůh vytvořil ženu a přivedl ji k Adamovi.
23 Adam tenkrát řekl:
„To je konečně ona:
kost z mých kostí,
tělo z mého těla!
Bude se nazývat manželkou,
neboť je vzata z manžela!“ 24 To proto muž opouští otce i matku – aby přilnul ke své manželce a stali se jedním tělem. 25 Oba dva, muž i jeho žena, byli nazí a nestyděli se.
Genesis 2
1 The heavens and the eartht were completed with everything that was in them.t2 Byt the seventh day God finished the work that he had been doing,t and he ceasedt on the seventh day all the work that he had been doing.
3 God blessed the seventh day and made it holyt because on it he ceased all the work that het had been doing in creation.t
The Creation of Man and Woman
4 This is the accountts of the heavens and
the earthts when they were created – when the Lord Gods made the earth and heavens.t
5 Nowt no shrub of the field had yet grown on the earth, and no plant of the fieldt had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.ts6 Springst would well upt from the earth and watert the whole surface of the ground.ts
7 The Lord God formedts the man from the soil of the groundt and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life,ts and the man became a living being.t
8 The Lord God planted an orchardts in the east,ts in Eden;s and there he placed the man he had formed.t
9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow from the soil,t every tree that was pleasing to look att and good for food. (Nowt the tree of lifet and the tree of the knowledge of good and evilt were in the middle of the orchard.)
10 Nowt a river flowst from Edens to
water the orchard, and from there it dividest into four headstreams.t11 The name of the first is Pishon; it runs throught the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold.12 (The gold of that land is pure;t pearlst and lapis lazulit are also there).13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it runs throught the entire land of Cush.s
14 The name of the third river is Tigris; it runs along the east side of Assyria.t The fourth river is the Euphrates.
15 The Lord God took the man and placedt him in the orchard int Eden to care for it and to maintain it.ts16 Then the Lord God commandeds the man, “You may freely eatt fruitt from every tree of the orchard,
17 butt you must not eatt from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for whent you eat from it you will surely die.”ts
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.t I will make a companiont for him who corresponds to him.”t19 The Lord God formedt out of the ground every living animal of the field and every bird of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he wouldt name them, and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.20 So the man named all the animals, the birds of the air, and the living creatures of the field, but for Adamt no companion who corresponded to him was found.t21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep,t and while he was asleep,t he took part of the man’s sidet and closed up the place with flesh.t22 Then the Lord God madet a woman from the part he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 Then the man said,
“This one at lastt is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
this one will be calledts ‘woman,’
for she was taken out oft man.”s
24 That is whyt a man leavest his father and mother and unites witht his wife, and they become a new family.t
25 The man and his wife were both naked,ts but they were not ashamed.t
