Génesis 2

1 Así quedaron terminados los cielos y la tierra,
y todo lo que hay en ellos. 2 Al llegar el séptimo día, Dios descansó
porque había terminado la obra que había emprendido. 3 Dios bendijo el séptimo día, y lo *santificó,
porque en ese día descansó de toda su obra creadora. 4 Ésta es la historias de la creación
de los cielos y la tierra. Cuando Dios el Señor hizo la tierra y los cielos,

Adán y Eva

5 aún no había ningún arbusto del campo sobre la tierra, ni había brotado la hierba, porque Dios el Señor todavía no había hecho llover sobre la tierra ni existía el *hombre para que la cultivara. 6 No obstante, salía de la tierra un manantial que regaba toda la superficie del suelo. 7 Y Dios el Señor formó al hombres del polvo de la tierra, y sopló en su nariz hálito de vida, y el hombre se convirtió en un ser viviente.
8 Dios el Señor plantó un jardín al oriente del Edén, y allí puso al hombre que había formado. 9 Dios el Señor hizo que creciera toda clase de árboles hermosos, los cuales daban frutos buenos y apetecibles. En medio del jardín hizo crecer el árbol de la vida y también el árbol del conocimiento del bien y del mal.
10 Del Edén nacía un río que regaba el jardín, y que desde allí se dividía en cuatro ríos menores. 11 El primero se llamaba Pisón, y recorría toda la región de Javilá, donde había oro. 12 El oro de esa región era fino, y también había allí resina muy buena y piedra de ónice. 13 El segundo se llamaba Guijón, que recorría toda la región de Cus.s 14 El tercero se llamaba Tigris, que corría al este de Asiria. El cuarto era el Éufrates.
15 Dios el Señor tomó al hombre y lo puso en el jardín del Edén para que lo cultivara y lo cuidara, 16 y le dio este mandato: «Puedes comer de todos los árboles del jardín, 17 pero del árbol del conocimiento del bien y del mal no deberás comer. El día que de él comas, ciertamente morirás.»
18 Luego Dios el Señor dijo: «No es bueno que el hombre esté solo. Voy a hacerle una ayuda adecuada.» 19 Entonces Dios el Señor formó de la tierra toda ave del cielo y todo animal del campo, y se los llevó al hombre para ver qué *nombre les pondría. El hombre les puso nombre a todos los seres vivos, y con ese nombre se les conoce. 20 Así el hombre fue poniéndoles nombre a todos los animales domésticos, a todas las aves del cielo y a todos los animales del campo. Sin embargo, no se encontró entre ellos la ayuda adecuada para el hombre.
21 Entonces Dios el Señor hizo que el hombre cayera en un sueño profundo y, mientras éste dormía, le sacó una costilla y le cerró la herida. 22 De la costilla que le había quitado al hombre, Dios el Señor hizo una mujer y se la presentó al hombre, 23 el cual exclamó:
«Ésta sí es hueso de mis huesos y carne de mi carne. Se llamará “mujer”s
porque del hombre fue sacada.» 24 Por eso el hombre deja a su padre y a su madre, y se une a su mujer, y los dos se funden en un solo ser.s
25 En ese tiempo el hombre y la mujer estaban desnudos, pero ninguno de los dos sentía vergüenza.

Genesis 2

1 The heavens and the eartht were completed with everything that was in them.t2 Byt the seventh day God finished the work that he had been doing,t and he ceasedt on the seventh day all the work that he had been doing.

3 God blessed the seventh day and made it holyt because on it he ceased all the work that het had been doing in creation.t

The Creation of Man and Woman

4 This is the accountts of the heavens and
the earthts when they were created – when the Lord Gods made the earth and heavens.t
5 Nowt no shrub of the field had yet grown on the earth, and no plant of the fieldt had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.ts6 Springst would well upt from the earth and watert the whole surface of the ground.ts

7 The Lord God formedts the man from the soil of the groundt and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life,ts and the man became a living being.t
8 The Lord God planted an orchardts in the east,ts in Eden;s and there he placed the man he had formed.t

9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow from the soil,t every tree that was pleasing to look att and good for food. (Nowt the tree of lifet and the tree of the knowledge of good and evilt were in the middle of the orchard.)

10 Nowt a river flowst from Edens to
water the orchard, and from there it dividest into four headstreams.t11 The name of the first is Pishon; it runs throught the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold.12 (The gold of that land is pure;t pearlst and lapis lazulit are also there).13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it runs throught the entire land of Cush.s

14 The name of the third river is Tigris; it runs along the east side of Assyria.t The fourth river is the Euphrates.
15 The Lord God took the man and placedt him in the orchard int Eden to care for it and to maintain it.ts16 Then the Lord God commandeds the man, “You may freely eatt fruitt from every tree of the orchard,

17 butt you must not eatt from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for whent you eat from it you will surely die.”ts
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.t I will make a companiont for him who corresponds to him.”t19 The Lord God formedt out of the ground every living animal of the field and every bird of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he wouldt name them, and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.20 So the man named all the animals, the birds of the air, and the living creatures of the field, but for Adamt no companion who corresponded to him was found.t21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep,t and while he was asleep,t he took part of the man’s sidet and closed up the place with flesh.t22 Then the Lord God madet a woman from the part he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

23 Then the man said,
“This one at lastt is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
this one will be calledts ‘woman,’
for she was taken out oft man.”s
24 That is whyt a man leavest his father and mother and unites witht his wife, and they become a new family.t

25 The man and his wife were both naked,ts but they were not ashamed.t
