Jesus är Guds Son

1 För länge sedan talade Gud, många gånger och på olika sätt, till våra förfäder genom att låta profeterna framföra hans budskap.t2 Men nu vid den här tidens slut har han talat till oss genom sin Son. Gud lät Sonen skapa hela universum och har bestämt att allt till sist ska tillhöra honom.

3 Sonen utstrålar Guds egen härlighet. Han är den synliga bilden av Gud själv, och han bär upp hela universum med sitt mäktiga ord. Han dog för att människorna skulle få förlåtelse för sina synder, och han sitter nu på Guds högra sida i himlen och regerar.t

Guds Son är mäktigare än änglarna

4 Guds egen Son står alltså långt över änglarna, och Gud tilltalar honom på ett sätt som visar att han är mycket mäktigare än de.5 Gud har ju aldrig sagt till någon ängel:
"Du är min Son. Idag har jag blivit din Far."
Eller:
"Jag ska vara hans Far, och han ska vara min Son."t6 Och när Gud låter Sonen, han som är den främste,t komma till jorden, säger Gud:
"Alla Guds änglar ska tillbe honom."t7 När Gud talar om änglarna, säger han:
"Jag gör mina änglar till vindar och mina tjänare till eldslågor."t8 Men till Sonen säger han:
"Gud, din tron ska stå kvar i all evighet.
Du regerar över ditt folk med rättvisa.9 Du älskar det som är rätt och hatar det onda.
Därför har jag, din Gud, gjort dig till kung och gett dig mer ära och glädje än någon annan."t10 "Herre, i tidens början la du jordens grund och formade himlen med dina händer.11 Allt detta ska en dag försvinna och bli till ingenting, men du kommer att finnas i evighet. Ja, himlen och jorden ska nötas ut precis som kläder.

12 Och du ska rulla ihop dessa utslitna kläder och byta ut dem mot något nytt. Men du själv förändras aldrig, och du ska aldrig dö."t
13 Och aldrig har Gud sagt till någon ängel, det han säger till Sonen:
"Kom och sitt på min högra sida och regera, tills jag har lagt dina fiender som en pall under dina fötter."t

14 Nej, änglarna är bara tjänare. De är andar som Gud har sänt ut för att hjälpa dem som blir räddade till evigt liv.

Hebrews 1

Introduction: God Has Spoken Fully and Finally in His Son

1 After God spoke long agot in various portionst and in various wayst to our ancestorst through the prophets,2 in these last days he has spoken to us in a son,ts whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he created the world.t3 The Son ist the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, and he sustains all things by his powerful word,t and so when he had accomplished cleansing for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.s

4 Thus he becamet so far better than the angels asts he has inherited a name superior to theirs.

The Son Is Superior to Angels

5 For to which of the angels did Godt ever say, “You are my son! Today I have fathered you”?ts And in another placet he says,t “I will be his father and he will be my son.”ts6 But when he again bringst his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him!”s7 And he sayss of the angels, “He makesthis angels spirits and his ministers a flame of fire,”s

8 but oft the Son he says,t
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,t
and a righteous sceptertis the scepter of your kingdom.

9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness.
So God, your God, has anointed you over your companionsswith the oil of rejoicing.”s

10 And,
“You founded the earth in the beginning, Lord,s
and the heavens are the works of your hands.

11 They will perish, but you continue.
And they will all grow old like a garment,

12 and like a robe you will fold them up
and like a garmentsssthey will be changed,
but you are the same and your years will never run out.”s
13 But to which of the angelss has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?s

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to serve thoset who will inherit salvation?
