ヘブル人への手紙

第1章

1 神は、むかしは、預言者たちにより、いろいろな時に、いろいろな方法で、先祖たちに語られたが、2 この終りの時には、御子によって、わたしたちに語られたのである。神は御子を万物の相続者と定め、また、御子によって、もろもろの世界を造られた。3 御子は神の栄光の輝きであり、神の本質の真の姿であって、その力ある言葉をもって万物を保っておられる。そして罪のきよめのわざをなし終えてから、いと高き所にいます大能者の右に、座につかれたのである。4 御子は、その受け継がれた名が御使たちの名にまさっているので、彼らよりもすぐれた者となられた。5 いったい、神は御使たちのだれに対して、「あなたこそは、わたしの子。きょう、わたしはあなたを生んだ」と言い、さらにまた、「わたしは彼の父となり、彼はわたしの子となるであろう」と言われたことがあるか。6 さらにまた、神は、その長子を世界に導き入れるに当って、「神の御使たちはことごとく、彼を拝すべきである」と言われた。7 また、御使たちについては、「神は、御使たちを風とし、ご自分に仕える者たちを炎とされる」と言われているが、8 御子については、「神よ、あなたの御座は、世々限りなく続き、あなたの支配のつえは、公平のつえである。9 あなたは義を愛し、不法を憎まれた。それゆえに、神、あなたの神は、喜びのあぶらを、あなたの友に注ぐよりも多く、あなたに注がれた」と言い、10 さらに、「主よ、あなたは初めに、地の基をおすえになった。もろもろの天も、み手のわざである。11 これらのものは滅びてしまうが、あなたは、いつまでもいますかたである。すべてのものは衣のように古び、12 それらをあなたは、外套のように巻かれる。これらのものは、衣のように変るが、あなたは、いつも変ることがなく、あなたのよわいは、尽きることがない」とも言われている。13 神は、御使たちのだれに対して、「あなたの敵を、あなたの足台とするときまでは、わたしの右に座していなさい」と言われたことがあるか。14 御使たちはすべて仕える霊であって、救を受け継ぐべき人々に奉仕するため、つかわされたものではないか。

Hebrews 1

Introduction: God Has Spoken Fully and Finally in His Son

1 After God spoke long agot in various portionst and in various wayst to our ancestorst through the prophets,2 in these last days he has spoken to us in a son,ts whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he created the world.t3 The Son ist the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, and he sustains all things by his powerful word,t and so when he had accomplished cleansing for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.s

4 Thus he becamet so far better than the angels asts he has inherited a name superior to theirs.

The Son Is Superior to Angels

5 For to which of the angels did Godt ever say, “You are my son! Today I have fathered you”?ts And in another placet he says,t “I will be his father and he will be my son.”ts6 But when he again bringst his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him!”s7 And he sayss of the angels, “He makesthis angels spirits and his ministers a flame of fire,”s

8 but oft the Son he says,t
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,t
and a righteous sceptertis the scepter of your kingdom.

9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness.
So God, your God, has anointed you over your companionsswith the oil of rejoicing.”s

10 And,
“You founded the earth in the beginning, Lord,s
and the heavens are the works of your hands.

11 They will perish, but you continue.
And they will all grow old like a garment,

12 and like a robe you will fold them up
and like a garmentsssthey will be changed,
but you are the same and your years will never run out.”s
13 But to which of the angelss has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?s

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to serve thoset who will inherit salvation?
