Hebreos 10

1 La ley es apenas el contorno de los bienes venideros, y no su imagen real. Por eso jamás podrá hacer perfectos a los que cada año se acercan a Dios para ofrecer los mismos sacrificios.2 Si en realidad pudiera, entonces los que rinden este culto, una vez limpios, dejarían de ofrecerlos, pues ya no tendrían más conciencia de pecado.3 Pero con estos sacrificios, cada año se hace memoria de los pecados,4 porque la sangre de los toros y de los machos cabríos no puede quitar los pecados.5 Por eso, al entrar en el mundo, Cristo dijo:«No quieres sacrificio y ofrenda,
pero me has dado un cuerpo.
6 No te agradan los holocaustos
ni las expiaciones por el pecado.

7 Entonces dije: “Mi Dios,
aquí estoy para hacer tu voluntad,
como está escrito de mí en el libro.”»t


8 Al decir primero: «No quieres ni te agradan sacrificios ni ofrendas, ni holocaustos ni expiaciones por el pecado» (cosas que se ofrecen según la ley),9 y luego añadir: «Aquí estoy, para hacer tu voluntad», quita lo primero para establecer esto último.10 Por esa voluntad somos santificados, mediante la ofrenda del cuerpo de Jesucristo, hecha una sola vez y para siempre.

11 Todo sacerdote ministra día tras día, y una y otra vez ofrece los mismos sacrificios, los cuales nunca pueden quitar los pecados.t12 Pero Cristo, después de ofrecer una sola vez un solo sacrificio por los pecados, para siempre se sentó a la derecha de Dios,13 y de ahí en adelante está en espera de que sus enemigos sean puestos por estrado de sus pies.t14 Él, por medio de una sola ofrenda, hizo perfectos para siempre a los santificados.15 De esto nos da testimonio el Espíritu Santo, pues primero dice:

16 «El Señor ha dicho:
Éste es el pacto que haré con ellos
después de aquellos días:
Pondré mis leyes en su corazón,
y las escribiré en su mente.»t

17 Y luego añade:«Y nunca más me acordaré de sus pecados y transgresiones.»t


18 Cuando los pecados ya han sido perdonados, no hay más necesidad de presentar ofrendas por el pecado.

19 Hermanos, puesto que con toda libertad podemos entrar en el Lugar Santísimo por la sangre de Jesucristo,20 por el camino nuevo y vivo que él nos abrió a través del velo, es decir, de su propio cuerpo,21 y puesto que tenemos un gran sacerdote al frente de la casa de Dios,22 acerquémonos con un corazón sincero, y con la plena seguridad de la fe, con el corazónt purificado de una mala conciencia, y con el cuerpo lavado en agua pura.t23 Mantengamos firme y sin fluctuar la esperanza que profesamos, porque fiel es el que prometió.24 Tengámonos en cuenta unos a otros, a fin de estimularnos al amor y a las buenas obras.25 No dejemos de congregarnos, como es la costumbre de algunos, sino animémonos unos a otros; y con más razón ahora que vemos que aquel día se acerca.

Advertencia a los pecadores deliberados

26 Si con toda intención pecamos después de haber recibido el conocimiento de la verdad, ya no queda más sacrificio por los pecados27 sino una terrible expectativa del juicio y del fuego ardiente que devorará a los enemigos de Dios.t28 Cualquiera que desobedece la ley de Moisés, muere sin falta, siempre y cuando haya dos o tres testigos que declaren en su contra.t29 ¿Y qué mayor castigo piensan ustedes que merece el que pisotea al Hijo de Dios y considera impura la sangre del pacto,t en la cual fue santificado, e insulta al Espíritu de la gracia?30 Bien sabemos que el Señor ha dicho: «Mía es la venganza, yo pagaré»,t y también: «El Señor juzgará a su pueblo».t31 ¡Horrenda cosa es caer en las manos del Dios vivo!

32 Pero recuerden ustedes los tiempos pasados, cuando después de haber sido iluminados soportaron ustedes los sufrimientos de una gran lucha.33 Algunas veces fueron expuestos públicamente a las burlas y las aflicciones, y otras veces llegaron a ser compañeros de los que enfrentaban una situación semejante.34 Además, ustedes también se compadecieron de los presos, y gozosos soportaron el despojo de sus propios bienes, sabedores de que en los cielos tienen una herencia mejor y permanente.35 Por lo tanto, no pierdan la confianza, que lleva consigo una gran recompensa.36 Lo que ustedes necesitan es tener paciencia; para que, una vez que hayan hecho la voluntad de Dios, reciban lo que él ha prometido darnos.37 «Porque dentro de muy poco tiempo
el que ha de venir, vendrá y no tardará.

38 Pero el justo vivirá por la fe;
y si se vuelve atrás, no será de mi agrado.»t


39 Pero nosotros no somos de los que se vuelven atrás y se pierden, sino de los que tienen fe y salvan su alma.

HEBREWS 10

1 The Law of Moses is like a shadow of the good things to come. This shadow isn't the good things themselves, because it cannot free people from sin by the sacrifices offered year after year. 2 If there were worshipers who already have their sins washed away and their consciences made clear, there would not be any need to go on offering sacrifices.

3-4 But the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. It only reminds people of their sins from one year to the next.

5  t When Christ came into the world, he said to God,
“Sacrifices and offerings
are not what you want,
but you have given me
my body.

6 No, you are not pleased
with animal sacrifices
and offerings for sin.”

7 Then Christ said,
“And so, my God,
I have come to do
what you want,
as the Scriptures say.”
8 The Law teaches that offerings and sacrifices must be made because of sin. But why did Christ mention these things and say that God did not want them? 9 Well, it was to do away with offerings and sacrifices and to replace them. This is what he meant by saying to God, “I have come to do what you want.”

10 So we are made holy because Christ obeyed God and offered himself once for all.
11  t The priests do their work each day, and they keep on offering sacrifices that can never take away sins. 12 t But Christ offered himself as a sacrifice that is good forever. Now he is sitting at God's right side, t 13 and he will stay there until his enemies are put under his power.

14 By his one sacrifice he has forever set free from sin the people he brings to God.

15 The Holy Spirit also speaks of this by telling us that the Lord said,

16  t “When the time comes,
I will make an agreement
with them.
I will write my laws
on their minds and hearts.

17  t Then I will forget
about their sins
and no longer remember
their evil deeds.”

18 When sins are forgiven, there is no more need to offer sacrifices.

Encouragement and Warning

20 by a new way that leads to life! And this way takes us through the curtain that is Christ himself.
21 We have a great high priest who is in charge of God's house. 22 t So let's come near God with pure hearts and a confidence that comes from having faith. Let's keep our hearts pure, our consciences free from evil, and our bodies washed with clean water. 23 We must hold tightly to the hope we say is ours. After all, we can trust the one who made the agreement with us. 24 We should keep on encouraging each other to be thoughtful and to do helpful things.

25 Some people have given up the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord's coming is getting closer.
26 No sacrifices can be made for people who decide to sin after they find out about the truth. 27 t They are God's enemies, and all they can look forward to is a terrible judgment and a furious fire. 28 t If two or more witnesses accused someone of breaking the Law of Moses, that person could be put to death. 29 t But it is much worse to dishonor God's Son and to disgrace the blood of the promise that made us holy. And it is just as bad to insult the Holy Spirit, who shows us mercy. 30 t We know that God has said he will punish and take revenge. We also know that the Scriptures say the Lord will judge his people.

31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God!
32 Don't forget all the hard times you went through when you first received the light. 33 Sometimes you were abused and mistreated in public, and at other times you shared in the sufferings of others.

34 You were kind to people in jail. And you gladly let your possessions be taken away, because you knew you had something better, something that would last forever.
35 Keep on being brave! It will bring you great rewards. 36 Learn to be patient, so you will please God and be given what he has promised.

37 t As the Scriptures say,
“God is coming soon!
It won't be very long.

38 The people God accepts
will live because
of their faith.t
But he isn't pleased
with anyone
who turns back.”
39 We are not like those people who turn back and get destroyed. We will keep on having faith until we are saved.
