HEBREOS 10

1 Porque la ley, teniendo la sombra de los bienes venideros, no la imagen misma de las cosas, nunca puede, por los mismos sacrificios que se ofrecen continuamente cada año, hacer perfectos a los que se acercan. 2 De otra manera cesarían de ofrecerse, pues los que tributan este culto, limpios una vez, no tendrían ya más conciencia de pecado. 3 Pero en estos sacrificios cada año se hace memoria de los pecados; 4 porque la sangre de los toros y de los machos cabríos no puede quitar los pecados.

5 Por lo cual, entrando en el mundo dice:
Sacrificio y ofrenda no quisiste;
Mas me preparaste cuerpo.

6 Holocaustos y expiaciones por el pecado no te agradaron.

7 Entonces dije: He aquí que vengo, oh Dios, para
hacer tu voluntad,
Como en el rollo del libro está escrito de mí.t
8 Diciendo primero: Sacrificio y ofrenda y holocaustos y expiaciones por el pecado no quisiste, ni te agradaron (las cuales cosas se ofrecen según la ley), 9 y diciendo luego: He aquí que vengo, oh Dios, para hacer tu voluntad; quita lo primero, para establecer esto último.

10 En esa voluntad somos santificados mediante la ofrenda del cuerpo de Jesucristo hecha una vez para siempre.
11 Y ciertamente todo sacerdote está día tras día ministrando y ofreciendo muchas veces los mismos sacrificios, que nunca pueden quitar los pecados;t 12 pero Cristo, habiendo ofrecido una vez para siempre un solo sacrificio por los pecados, se ha sentado a la diestra de Dios, 13 de ahí en adelante esperando hasta que sus enemigos sean puestos por estrado de sus pies;t 14 porque con una sola ofrenda hizo perfectos para siempre a los santificados.

15 Y nos atestigua lo mismo el Espíritu Santo; porque después de haber dicho:

16 Éste es el pacto que haré con ellos
Después de aquellos días, dice el Señor:
Pondré mis leyes en sus corazones,
Y en sus mentes las escribiré,t

17 añade:
Y nunca más me acordaré de sus pecados y transgresiones.t

18 Pues donde hay remisión de éstos, no hay más ofrenda por el pecado.
19 Así que, hermanos, teniendo libertad para entrar en el Lugar Santísimo por la sangre de Jesucristo, 20 por el camino nuevo y vivo que él nos abrió a través del velo, esto es, de su carne, 21 y teniendo un gran sacerdote sobre la casa de Dios, 22 acerquémonos con corazón sincero, en plena certidumbre de fe, purificados los corazonest de mala conciencia, y lavados los cuerpos con agua pura.t 23 Mantengamos firme, sin fluctuar, la profesión de nuestra esperanza, porque fiel es el que prometió. 24 Y considerémonos unos a otros para estimularnos al amor y a las buenas obras;

25 no dejando de congregarnos, como algunos tienen por costumbre, sino exhortándonos; y tanto más, cuanto veis que aquel día se acerca.

Advertencia al que peca deliberadamente

31 ¡Horrenda cosa es caer en manos del Dios vivo!
32 Pero traed a la memoria los días pasados, en los cuales, después de haber sido iluminados, sostuvisteis gran combate de padecimientos; 33 por una parte, ciertamente, con vituperios y tribulaciones fuisteis hechos espectáculo; y por otra, llegasteis a ser compañeros de los que estaban en una situación semejante. 34 Porque de los presos también os compadecisteis, y el despojo de vuestros bienes sufristeis con gozo, sabiendo que tenéis en vosotros una mejor y perdurable herencia en los cielos. 35 No perdáis, pues, vuestra confianza, que tiene grande galardón;

36 porque os es necesaria la paciencia, para que habiendo hecho la voluntad de Dios, obtengáis la promesa.

37 Porque aún un poquito,
Y el que ha de venir vendrá, y no tardará.

38 Mas el justo vivirá por fe;
Y si retrocediere, no agradará a mi alma.t
39 Pero nosotros no somos de los que retroceden para perdición, sino de los que tienen fe para preservación del alma.

HEBREWS 10

1 The Law of Moses is like a shadow of the good things to come. This shadow isn't the good things themselves, because it cannot free people from sin by the sacrifices offered year after year. 2 If there were worshipers who already have their sins washed away and their consciences made clear, there would not be any need to go on offering sacrifices.

3-4 But the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. It only reminds people of their sins from one year to the next.

5  t When Christ came into the world, he said to God,
“Sacrifices and offerings
are not what you want,
but you have given me
my body.

6 No, you are not pleased
with animal sacrifices
and offerings for sin.”

7 Then Christ said,
“And so, my God,
I have come to do
what you want,
as the Scriptures say.”
8 The Law teaches that offerings and sacrifices must be made because of sin. But why did Christ mention these things and say that God did not want them? 9 Well, it was to do away with offerings and sacrifices and to replace them. This is what he meant by saying to God, “I have come to do what you want.”

10 So we are made holy because Christ obeyed God and offered himself once for all.
11  t The priests do their work each day, and they keep on offering sacrifices that can never take away sins. 12 t But Christ offered himself as a sacrifice that is good forever. Now he is sitting at God's right side, t 13 and he will stay there until his enemies are put under his power.

14 By his one sacrifice he has forever set free from sin the people he brings to God.

15 The Holy Spirit also speaks of this by telling us that the Lord said,

16  t “When the time comes,
I will make an agreement
with them.
I will write my laws
on their minds and hearts.

17  t Then I will forget
about their sins
and no longer remember
their evil deeds.”

18 When sins are forgiven, there is no more need to offer sacrifices.

Encouragement and Warning

20 by a new way that leads to life! And this way takes us through the curtain that is Christ himself.
21 We have a great high priest who is in charge of God's house. 22 t So let's come near God with pure hearts and a confidence that comes from having faith. Let's keep our hearts pure, our consciences free from evil, and our bodies washed with clean water. 23 We must hold tightly to the hope we say is ours. After all, we can trust the one who made the agreement with us. 24 We should keep on encouraging each other to be thoughtful and to do helpful things.

25 Some people have given up the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord's coming is getting closer.
26 No sacrifices can be made for people who decide to sin after they find out about the truth. 27 t They are God's enemies, and all they can look forward to is a terrible judgment and a furious fire. 28 t If two or more witnesses accused someone of breaking the Law of Moses, that person could be put to death. 29 t But it is much worse to dishonor God's Son and to disgrace the blood of the promise that made us holy. And it is just as bad to insult the Holy Spirit, who shows us mercy. 30 t We know that God has said he will punish and take revenge. We also know that the Scriptures say the Lord will judge his people.

31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God!
32 Don't forget all the hard times you went through when you first received the light. 33 Sometimes you were abused and mistreated in public, and at other times you shared in the sufferings of others.

34 You were kind to people in jail. And you gladly let your possessions be taken away, because you knew you had something better, something that would last forever.
35 Keep on being brave! It will bring you great rewards. 36 Learn to be patient, so you will please God and be given what he has promised.

37 t As the Scriptures say,
“God is coming soon!
It won't be very long.

38 The people God accepts
will live because
of their faith.t
But he isn't pleased
with anyone
who turns back.”
39 We are not like those people who turn back and get destroyed. We will keep on having faith until we are saved.
