1 โดยเหตุที่พระราชบัญญัตินั้นได้เป็นแต่เงาของสิ่งดีที่จะมาภายหน้า มิใช่ตัวจริงของสิ่งนั้นทีเดียว พระราชบัญญัตินั้นจะใช้เครื่องบูชาที่เขาถวายทุกปีๆเสมอมากระทำให้ผู้ถวายสักการบูชานั้นถึงที่สำเร็จไม่ได้2 เพราะถ้าเป็นเช่นนั้นได้ เขาคงได้หยุดการถวายเครื่องบูชาแล้วมิใช่หรือ เพราะถ้าผู้นมัสการนั้นได้รับการชำระให้บริสุทธิ์ครั้งหนึ่งแล้ว เขาคงจะไม่รู้สึกว่ามีบาปอีกต่อไป3 แต่การถวายเครื่องบูชานั้นเป็นเหตุให้ระลึกถึงความบาปทุกปีๆ4 เพราะเลือดวัวผู้และเลือดแพะไม่สามารถชำระความบาปได้5 ดังนั้นเมื่อพระองค์เสด็จเข้ามาในโลกแล้ว พระองค์ได้ตรัสว่า `เครื่องสัตวบูชาและเครื่องบูชาพระองค์ไม่ทรงประสงค์ แต่พระองค์ได้ทรงจัดเตรียมกายสำหรับข้าพระองค์6 เครื่องเผาบูชาและเครื่องบูชาไถ่บาป พระองค์ไม่ทรงพอพระทัย7 แล้วข้าพระองค์ทูลว่า "ดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์มาแล้ว โอ พระเจ้าข้า เพื่อจะกระทำตามน้ำพระทัยพระองค์" (ในหนังสือม้วนก็มีเขียนเรื่องข้าพระองค์)'8 เมื่อพระองค์ตรัสดังนี้แล้วว่า "เครื่องสัตวบูชาและเครื่องบูชาและเครื่องเผาบูชาและเครื่องบูชาไถ่บาป พระองค์ไม่ทรงประสงค์และไม่ทรงพอพระทัย" ซึ่งเขาได้บูชาตามพระราชบัญญัตินั้น9 แล้วพระองค์จึงตรัสว่า "ดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์มาแล้ว โอ พระเจ้าข้า เพื่อจะกระทำตามน้ำพระทัยพระองค์" พระองค์ทรงยกเลิกระบบเดิมนั้นเสีย เพื่อจะทรงตั้งระบบใหม่10 โดยน้ำพระทัยนั้นเองที่เราทั้งหลายได้รับการทรงชำระให้บริสุทธิ์ โดยการถวายพระกายของพระเยซูคริสต์เพียงครั้งเดียวเท่านั้น11 ฝ่ายปุโรหิตทุกคนก็ยืนปฏิบัติอยู่ทุกวันๆและนำเอาเครื่องบูชาอย่างเดียวกันมาถวายเนืองๆ เครื่องบูชานั้นจะยกเอาความบาปไปเสียไม่ได้เลย12 ฝ่ายพระองค์นี้ ครั้นทรงถวายเครื่องบูชาเพราะความบาปเพียงหนเดียวซึ่งใช้ได้เป็นนิตย์ ก็เสด็จประทับเบื้องขวาพระหัตถ์ของพระเจ้า13 ตั้งแต่นี้ไปพระองค์คอยอยู่จนถึงบรรดาศัตรูของพระองค์จะถูกปราบลงเป็นที่รองพระบาทของพระองค์14 เพราะว่าโดยการทรงถวายบูชาหนเดียว พระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำให้คนทั้งหลายที่ถูกชำระแล้วถึงที่สำเร็จเป็นนิตย์15 และพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ก็ทรงเป็นพยานให้แก่เราด้วย เพราะว่าพระองค์ได้ตรัสไว้แล้วว่า16 `"นี่คือพันธสัญญาซึ่งเราจะกระทำกับเขาทั้งหลายภายหลังสมัยนั้น" องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัส "เราจะบรรจุราชบัญญัติของเราไว้ในจิตใจของเขาทั้งหลาย และจะจารึกมันไว้ที่ในดวงใจของเขาทั้งหลาย17 และจะไม่จดจำบาปและความชั่วช้าของเขาอีกต่อไป"'18 ดังนั้นเมื่อมีการลบบาปแล้วก็ไม่มีการถวายเครื่องบูชาไถ่บาปอีกต่อไป19 เหตุฉะนั้นพี่น้องทั้งหลาย เมื่อเรามีใจกล้าที่จะเข้าไปในที่บริสุทธิ์ที่สุดโดยพระโลหิตของพระเยซู20 ตามทางใหม่และเป็นทางที่มีชีวิต ซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงเปิดออกสำหรับเราทั้งหลายโดยม่านนั้น คือเนื้อหนังของพระองค์21 และครั้นเรามีมหาปุโรหิตสำหรับครอบครัวของพระเจ้าแล้ว22 ก็ให้เราเข้ามาใกล้ด้วยใจจริง ด้วยความเชื่ออันเต็มเปี่ยม มีใจที่ถูกประพรมชำระพ้นจากการวินิจฉัยผิดและชอบที่ชั่วร้าย และมีกายล้างชำระด้วยน้ำอันใสบริสุทธิ์23 ให้เรายึดมั่นในความเชื่อที่เราทั้งหลายรับไว้นั้น โดยไม่หวั่นไหว (เพราะว่าพระองค์ผู้ทรงประทานพระสัญญานั้นทรงสัตย์ซื่อ)24 และให้เราพิจารณาดูกันและกัน เพื่อเป็นเหตุให้มีความรักและกระทำการดี25 ซึ่งเราเคยประชุมกันนั้นอย่าให้หยุด เหมือนอย่างบางคนเคยกระทำนั้น แต่จงเตือนสติกันและกัน และให้มากยิ่งขึ้นเมื่อท่านทั้งหลายเห็นวันเวลานั้นใกล้เข้ามาแล้ว26 เมื่อเราได้รับความรู้เรื่องความจริงแล้ว แต่เรายังขืนทำผิดอีก เครื่องบูชาไถ่บาปก็จะไม่มีเหลืออยู่เลย27 แต่จะมีความหวาดกลัวในการรอคอยการพิพากษาโทษและไฟอันร้ายแรง ซึ่งจะกินเอาบรรดาคนที่ขัดขวางนั้นเสีย28 คนที่ได้ฝ่าฝืนพระราชบัญญัติของโมเสสนั้น ถ้ามีพยานสักสองสามปาก ก็จะต้องตายโดยปราศจากความเมตตา29 ท่านทั้งหลายคิดดูซิว่าคนที่เหยียบย่ำพระบุตรของพระเจ้า และดูหมิ่นพระโลหิตแห่งพันธสัญญาซึ่งชำระเขาให้บริสุทธิ์ว่าเป็นสิ่งชั่วช้า และประมาทต่อพระวิญญาณผู้ทรงพระคุณ ควรจะถูกลงโทษมากยิ่งกว่านั้นสักเท่าใด30 เพราะเรารู้จักพระองค์ผู้ได้ตรัสว่า `การแก้แค้นเป็นของเรา เราจะตอบสนอง องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าได้ตรัส' และได้ตรัสอีกว่า `องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะทรงพิพากษาประชาชนของพระองค์'31 การตกอยู่ในอุ้งพระหัตถ์ของพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์นั้นเป็นที่น่าหวาดกลัว32 แต่ท่านทั้งหลายจงระลึกถึงคราวก่อนนั้น หลังจากที่ท่านได้รับความสว่างแล้ว ท่านได้อดทนต่อความยากลำบากอย่างใหญ่หลวง33 บางทีท่านก็ถูกประจานให้อับอายขายหน้าและถูกข่มเหง บางทีท่านก็ร่วมทุกข์กับคนที่ถูกข่มเหงนั้น34 เพราะว่าท่านทั้งหลายมีใจเมตตาต่อข้าพเจ้าในเมื่อข้าพเจ้าต้องถูกขังไว้ และเมื่อมีคนปล้นชิงเอาทรัพย์สิ่งของของท่านไป ท่านก็ยอมให้ด้วยใจยินดี เพราะท่านรู้แล้วว่า ท่านมีทรัพย์สมบัติที่ประเสริฐกว่าและถาวรกว่านั้นอีกในสวรรค์35 เหตุฉะนั้นขออย่าได้ละทิ้งความไว้วางใจของท่าน ซึ่งมีบำเหน็จอันยิ่งใหญ่36 ด้วยว่าท่านทั้งหลายต้องการความเพียร เพื่อว่าครั้นท่านกระทำให้น้ำพระทัยของพระเจ้าสำเร็จได้ ท่านจะได้รับตามคำทรงสัญญา37 `เพราะอีกไม่นานพระองค์ผู้จะเสด็จมาก็จะเสด็จมาและจะไม่ทรงชักช้า38 แต่คนชอบธรรมจะมีชีวิตดำรงอยู่โดยความเชื่อ แต่ถ้าผู้ใดเสื่อมถอย ใจของเราจะไม่มีความพอใจในคนนั้นเลย'39 แต่เราทั้งหลายไม่อยู่ฝ่ายคนเหล่านั้นที่กลับถอยหลังถึงความพินาศ แต่อยู่ฝ่ายคนเหล่านั้นที่เชื่อจนให้จิตวิญญาณถึงที่รอด

HEBREWS 10

1 The Law of Moses is like a shadow of the good things to come. This shadow isn't the good things themselves, because it cannot free people from sin by the sacrifices offered year after year. 2 If there were worshipers who already have their sins washed away and their consciences made clear, there would not be any need to go on offering sacrifices.

3-4 But the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. It only reminds people of their sins from one year to the next.

5  t When Christ came into the world, he said to God,
“Sacrifices and offerings
are not what you want,
but you have given me
my body.

6 No, you are not pleased
with animal sacrifices
and offerings for sin.”

7 Then Christ said,
“And so, my God,
I have come to do
what you want,
as the Scriptures say.”
8 The Law teaches that offerings and sacrifices must be made because of sin. But why did Christ mention these things and say that God did not want them? 9 Well, it was to do away with offerings and sacrifices and to replace them. This is what he meant by saying to God, “I have come to do what you want.”

10 So we are made holy because Christ obeyed God and offered himself once for all.
11  t The priests do their work each day, and they keep on offering sacrifices that can never take away sins. 12 t But Christ offered himself as a sacrifice that is good forever. Now he is sitting at God's right side, t 13 and he will stay there until his enemies are put under his power.

14 By his one sacrifice he has forever set free from sin the people he brings to God.

15 The Holy Spirit also speaks of this by telling us that the Lord said,

16  t “When the time comes,
I will make an agreement
with them.
I will write my laws
on their minds and hearts.

17  t Then I will forget
about their sins
and no longer remember
their evil deeds.”

18 When sins are forgiven, there is no more need to offer sacrifices.

Encouragement and Warning

20 by a new way that leads to life! And this way takes us through the curtain that is Christ himself.
21 We have a great high priest who is in charge of God's house. 22 t So let's come near God with pure hearts and a confidence that comes from having faith. Let's keep our hearts pure, our consciences free from evil, and our bodies washed with clean water. 23 We must hold tightly to the hope we say is ours. After all, we can trust the one who made the agreement with us. 24 We should keep on encouraging each other to be thoughtful and to do helpful things.

25 Some people have given up the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord's coming is getting closer.
26 No sacrifices can be made for people who decide to sin after they find out about the truth. 27 t They are God's enemies, and all they can look forward to is a terrible judgment and a furious fire. 28 t If two or more witnesses accused someone of breaking the Law of Moses, that person could be put to death. 29 t But it is much worse to dishonor God's Son and to disgrace the blood of the promise that made us holy. And it is just as bad to insult the Holy Spirit, who shows us mercy. 30 t We know that God has said he will punish and take revenge. We also know that the Scriptures say the Lord will judge his people.

31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God!
32 Don't forget all the hard times you went through when you first received the light. 33 Sometimes you were abused and mistreated in public, and at other times you shared in the sufferings of others.

34 You were kind to people in jail. And you gladly let your possessions be taken away, because you knew you had something better, something that would last forever.
35 Keep on being brave! It will bring you great rewards. 36 Learn to be patient, so you will please God and be given what he has promised.

37 t As the Scriptures say,
“God is coming soon!
It won't be very long.

38 The people God accepts
will live because
of their faith.t
But he isn't pleased
with anyone
who turns back.”
39 We are not like those people who turn back and get destroyed. We will keep on having faith until we are saved.
