1  Sigan amándose unos a otros como hermanos.t 2 No se olviden de brindar hospitalidad a los desconocidos, porque algunos que lo han hecho, ¡han hospedado ángeles sin darse cuenta! 3 Acuérdense de aquellos que están en prisión, como si ustedes mismos estuvieran allí. Acuérdense también de los que son maltratados, como si ustedes mismos sintieran en carne propia el dolor de ellos.

4 Honren el matrimonio, y los casados manténganse fieles el uno al otro. Con toda seguridad, Dios juzgará a los que cometen inmoralidades sexuales y a los que cometen adulterio.

5 No amen el dinero; estén contentos con lo que tienen, pues Dios ha dicho:
«Nunca te fallaré.
Jamás te abandonaré»t.

6 Así que podemos decir con toda confianza:
«El SEÑOR es quien me ayuda,
por eso no tendré miedo.
¿Qué me puede hacer un simple mortal?»t.

7 Acuérdense de los líderes que les enseñaron la palabra de Dios. Piensen en todo lo bueno que haya resultado de su vida y sigan el ejemplo de su fe.

8 Jesucristo es el mismo ayer, hoy y siempre. 9 Así que no se dejen cautivar por ideas nuevas y extrañas. Su fortaleza espiritual proviene de la gracia de Dios y no depende de reglas sobre los alimentos, que de nada sirven a quienes las siguen.

10 Tenemos un altar del cual los sacerdotes del tabernáculot no tienen derecho a comer. 11 Bajo el sistema antiguo, el sumo sacerdote llevaba la sangre de los animales al Lugar Santo como sacrificio por el pecado, y los cuerpos de esos animales se quemaban fuera del campamento. 12 De igual manera, Jesús sufrió y murió fuera de las puertas de la ciudad para hacer santo a su pueblo mediante su propia sangre. 13 Entonces salgamos al encuentro de Jesús, fuera del campamento, y llevemos la deshonra que él llevó. 14 Pues este mundo no es nuestro hogar permanente; esperamos el hogar futuro.

15 Por lo tanto, por medio de Jesús, ofrezcamos un sacrificio continuo de alabanza a Dios, mediante el cual proclamamos nuestra lealtad a su nombre. 16 Y no se olviden de hacer el bien ni de compartir lo que tienen con quienes pasan necesidad. Estos son los sacrificios que le agradan a Dios.

17 Obedezcan a sus líderes espirituales y hagan lo que ellos dicen. Su tarea es cuidar el alma de ustedes y tienen que rendir cuentas a Dios. Denles motivos para que la hagan con alegría y no con dolor. Esto último ciertamente no los beneficiará a ustedes.

18 Oren por nosotros, pues tenemos la conciencia limpia y deseamos comportarnos con integridad en todo lo que hacemos. 19 Y oren especialmente para que pueda regresar a verlos pronto.

20 Y ahora, que el Dios de paz
—quien levantó de entre los muertos a nuestro Señor Jesús,
el gran Pastor de las ovejas,
y que ratificó un pacto eterno con su sangre—

21 los capacite con todo lo que necesiten
para hacer su voluntad.
Que él produzca en ustedes,t
mediante el poder de Jesucristo,
todo lo bueno que a él le agrada.
¡A él sea toda la gloria por siempre y para siempre! Amén.

22 Les ruego, amados hermanos, que hagan caso a lo que les escribí en esta breve exhortación.

23 Quiero que sepan que nuestro hermano Timoteo ya salió de la cárcel. Si llega pronto, lo llevaré conmigo cuando vaya a verlos.

24 Saluden a todos los líderes y a todos los creyentes que están allí. Los creyentes de Italia les envían sus saludos.

25 Que la gracia de Dios sea con todos ustedes.

Service That Pleases God

1 Keep being concerned about each other as the Lord's followers should.

2  t Be sure to welcome strangers into your home. By doing this, some people have welcomed angels as guests, without even knowing it.

3 Remember the Lord's people who are in jail and be concerned for them. Don't forget those who are suffering, but imagine you are there with them.

4  t Have respect for marriage. Always be faithful to your partner, because God will punish anyone who is immoral or unfaithful in marriage.
5  t Don't fall in love with money. Be satisfied with what you have. The Lord has promised that he will not leave us or desert us.

6 t This should make you feel like saying,
“The Lord helps me!
Why should I be afraid
of what people
can do to me?”

7 Don't forget about your leaders who taught you God's message. Remember what kind of lives they lived and try to have faith like theirs.
8 Jesus Christ never changes! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 Don't be fooled by any kind of strange teachings. It is better to receive strength from God's gift of undeserved grace than to depend on certain foods. After all, these foods don't really help the people who eat them.

10 But we have an altar where even the priests who serve in the place of worship have no right to eat.
11  t After the high priest offers the blood of animals as a sin offering, the bodies of those animals are burned outside the camp. 12 Jesus himself suffered outside the city gate, so his blood would make people holy. 13 This is why we should go outside the camp to Jesus and share in his disgrace.

14 On this earth we don't have a city that lasts forever, but we are waiting for such a city.
15 Our sacrifice is to keep offering praise to God in the name of Jesus.

16 But don't forget to help others and to share your possessions with them. This too is like offering a sacrifice that pleases God.

17 Obey your leaders and do what they say. They are watching over you, and they must answer to God. So don't make them sad as they do their work. Make them happy. Otherwise, they won't be able to help you at all.
18 Pray for us. Our consciences are clear, and we always try to live right.

19 I especially want you to pray that I can visit you again soon.

Final Prayers and Greetings

21 t I pray God will make you ready to obey him and that you will always be eager to do right. May Jesus help you do what pleases God. To Jesus Christ be glory forever and ever! Amen.

22 My friends, I have written only a short letter to encourage you, and I beg you to pay close attention to what I have said.

23 By now you surely must know that our friend Timothy is out of jail. If he gets here in time, I will bring him with me when I come to visit you.

24 Please give my greetings to your leaders and to the rest of the Lord's people.
His followers from Italy send you their greetings.
25 I pray that God will be kind to all of you!t
