EPISTOLA AGLI EBREI 13

1 L'amor fraterno continui fra voi. Non dimenticate l'ospitalità; 2 perché, praticandola, alcuni, senza saperlo, hanno albergato degli angeli. 3 Ricordatevi de' carcerati, come se foste in carcere con loro; di quelli che sono maltrattati, ricordando che anche voi siete nel corpo. 4 Sia il matrimonio tenuto in onore da tutti, e sia il talamo incontaminato; poiché Iddio giudicherà i fornicatori e gli adulteri. 5 Non siate amanti del danaro, siate contenti delle cose che avete; poiché Egli stesso ha detto: Io non ti lascerò, e non ti abbandonerò. 6 Talché possiam dire con piena fiducia: Il Signore è il mio aiuto; non temerò. Che mi potrà far l'uomo? 7 Ricordatevi dei vostri conduttori, i quali v'hanno annunziato la parola di Dio; e considerando com'hanno finito la loro carriera, imitate la loro fede. 8 Gesù Cristo è lo stesso ieri, oggi, e in eterno. 9 Non siate trasportati qua e là da diverse e strane dottrine; poiché è bene che il cuore sia reso saldo dalla grazia, e non da pratiche relative a vivande, dalle quali non ritrassero alcun giovamento quelli che le osservarono. 10 Noi abbiamo un altare del quale non hanno diritto di mangiare quelli che servono il tabernacolo. 11 Poiché i corpi degli animali il cui sangue è portato dal sommo sacerdote nel santuario come un'offerta per il peccato, sono arsi fuori dal campo. 12 Perciò anche Gesù, per santificare il popolo col proprio sangue, soffrì fuor della porta. 13 Usciamo quindi fuori del campo e andiamo a lui, portando il suo vituperio. 14 Poiché non abbiamo qui una città stabile, ma cerchiamo quella futura. 15 Per mezzo di lui, dunque, offriam del continuo a Dio un sacrificio di lode: cioè, il frutto di labbra confessanti il suo nome! 16 E non dimenticate di esercitar la beneficenza e di far parte agli altri de' vostri beni; perché è di tali sacrifici che Dio si compiace. 17 Ubbidite ai vostri conduttori e sottomettetevi a loro, perché essi vegliano per le vostre anime, come chi ha da renderne conto; affinché facciano questo con allegrezza e non sospirando; perché ciò non vi sarebbe d'alcun utile. 18 Pregate per noi, perché siam persuasi d'aver una buona coscienza, desiderando di condurci onestamente in ogni cosa. 19 E vie più v'esorto a farlo, onde io vi sia più presto restituito. 20 Or l'Iddio della pace che in virtù del sangue del patto eterno ha tratto dai morti il gran Pastore delle pecore, Gesù nostro Signore, 21 vi renda compiuti in ogni bene, onde facciate la sua volontà, operando in voi quel che è gradito nel suo cospetto, per mezzo di Gesù Cristo; a Lui sia la gloriane' secoli dei secoli. Amen. 22 Or, fratelli, comportate, vi prego, la mia parola d'esortazione; perché v'ho scritto brevemente. 23 Sappiate che il nostro fratello Timoteo è stato messo in libertà; con lui, se vien presto, io vi vedrò. 24 Salutate tutti i vostri conduttori e tutti i santi. Quei d'Italia vi salutano. 25 La grazia sia con tutti voi. Amen.

Service That Pleases God

1 Keep being concerned about each other as the Lord's followers should.

2  t Be sure to welcome strangers into your home. By doing this, some people have welcomed angels as guests, without even knowing it.

3 Remember the Lord's people who are in jail and be concerned for them. Don't forget those who are suffering, but imagine you are there with them.

4  t Have respect for marriage. Always be faithful to your partner, because God will punish anyone who is immoral or unfaithful in marriage.
5  t Don't fall in love with money. Be satisfied with what you have. The Lord has promised that he will not leave us or desert us.

6 t This should make you feel like saying,
“The Lord helps me!
Why should I be afraid
of what people
can do to me?”

7 Don't forget about your leaders who taught you God's message. Remember what kind of lives they lived and try to have faith like theirs.
8 Jesus Christ never changes! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 Don't be fooled by any kind of strange teachings. It is better to receive strength from God's gift of undeserved grace than to depend on certain foods. After all, these foods don't really help the people who eat them.

10 But we have an altar where even the priests who serve in the place of worship have no right to eat.
11  t After the high priest offers the blood of animals as a sin offering, the bodies of those animals are burned outside the camp. 12 Jesus himself suffered outside the city gate, so his blood would make people holy. 13 This is why we should go outside the camp to Jesus and share in his disgrace.

14 On this earth we don't have a city that lasts forever, but we are waiting for such a city.
15 Our sacrifice is to keep offering praise to God in the name of Jesus.

16 But don't forget to help others and to share your possessions with them. This too is like offering a sacrifice that pleases God.

17 Obey your leaders and do what they say. They are watching over you, and they must answer to God. So don't make them sad as they do their work. Make them happy. Otherwise, they won't be able to help you at all.
18 Pray for us. Our consciences are clear, and we always try to live right.

19 I especially want you to pray that I can visit you again soon.

Final Prayers and Greetings

21 t I pray God will make you ready to obey him and that you will always be eager to do right. May Jesus help you do what pleases God. To Jesus Christ be glory forever and ever! Amen.

22 My friends, I have written only a short letter to encourage you, and I beg you to pay close attention to what I have said.

23 By now you surely must know that our friend Timothy is out of jail. If he gets here in time, I will bring him with me when I come to visit you.

24 Please give my greetings to your leaders and to the rest of the Lord's people.
