HEBREOS 5

1 Dios elige a los jefes de los sacerdotes para que ayuden al pueblo, y para que presenten las ofrendas y sacrificios, para que Dios los perdone.2 Y como a esos sacerdotes también les resulta difícil obedecer a Dios, pueden mostrarse pacientes con los ignorantes y pecadores.3 Por eso tienen que presentar ofrendas y sacrificios, para que Dios perdone los pecados del pueblo, y también los de ellos.

4 Pero nadie puede ser jefe de los sacerdotes sólo porque así lo quiere, sino que Dios es quien lo elige y le da ese honor. Así lo hizo Dios cuando escogió a Aarón como jefe de los sacerdotes.

5 Cristo no llegó a ser Jefe de sacerdotes porque así lo quiso, sino que Dios lo eligió y le dio ese honor. Fue Dios quien le dijo:

«Tú eres mi Hijo;
desde hoy soy tu padre.»

6 En otra parte de la Biblia también le dijo:

«Tú eres sacerdote para siempre,
como lo fue Melquisedec.»

7 Cuando Cristo estuvo aquí en el mundo, oró mucho a Dios, y con lágrimas le rogó que lo librara de la muerte, pues Dios tenía poder para hacerlo. Y como Cristo siempre fue obediente, Dios contestó su oración.8 Aunque él era Hijo de Dios, por medio del sufrimiento aprendió lo que significa obedecer siempre a Dios.9 Así, una vez que Cristo hizo todo lo que Dios le mandó, se convirtió en el salvador que da vida eterna a todos los que lo obedecen.

10 Por eso Dios también lo nombró Jefe de sacerdotes, como lo fue Melquisedec.

Aprendamos más acerca de Dios

11 Hay mucho más que decir acerca de este asunto, pero no es fácil explicarles a ustedes todo, porque les cuesta mucho entender.12 Con el tiempo que llevan de haber creído en la buena noticia, ya deberían ser maestros. Sin embargo, todavía necesitan que se les expliquen las enseñanzas más sencillas acerca de Dios. Parecen niños pequeños, que no pueden comer alimentos sólidos, sino que sólo toman leche.13 Son como niños recién nacidos, que aún no pueden distinguir entre lo bueno y lo malo.

14 En cambio, los que sí saben distinguir entre lo bueno y lo malo, y están acostumbrados a hacerlo, son como la gente adulta, que ya puede comer alimentos sólidos.

Hebrews 5

1 For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:2 who can bear gently with the ignorant and erring, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity;3 and by reason thereof is bound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.4 And no man taketh the honor unto himself, but when he is called of God, even as was Aaron.5 So Christ also glorified not himself to be made a high priest, but he that spake unto him, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee:

6 as he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek.

7 Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,8 though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered;9 and having been made perfect, he became unto all them that obey him the author of eternal salvation;10 named of God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard of interpretation, seeing ye are become dull of hearing.12 For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that some one teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.13 For every one that partaketh of milk is without experience of the word of righteousness; for he is a babe.14 But solid food is for fullgrown men, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.
