Hebreërs 6

1 Daarom moet ons nie ophou by die dinge wat ons in die begin oor Christus geleer het nie. Nee, ons geloof moet aanhou groei en ons moet grootmense word in die geloof. Ons moenie weer van onder begin bou soos wanneer ’n mens ’n gebou se tfondament bou nie. Ons bou weer van onder wanneer ons weer daaroor begin praat dat mense moet ophou om die dinge te doen wat ’n mens doodmaak. Ons bou ook weer van onder wanneer ons sê dat mense in God moet begin glo, 2 of wanneer ons vir mense leer hoe om mense te was om hulle trein te maak, of wanneer ons vir mense leer hoe om die thande op iemand te sit, of wanneer ons vir mense leer dat God die mense wat gesterf het, weer sal laat lewe, en dat Hy sal toordeel oor die mense, dat Hy die mense wat verkeerd gedoen het, vir altyd sal straf. 3 Ons sal grootmense in die geloof word, as God dit wil hê. 4-6 Want as mense weggedraai het van God, dan kan ons hulle nie laat terugdraai na Hom toe nie. Want God het sy lig oor hulle laat skyn, en hulle het gevoel hoe goed die dinge is wat God gee. God het die Heilige Gees vir daardie mense gegee. Hulle is ook mense wat gevoel het dat die boodskap van God goed is en hulle voel nou al klaar dat God sterk is, God wat nou en later sal regeer. Wanneer hierdie mense weggedraai het van God, dan kan ons hulle nie weer laat terugdraai na God toe nie, want hulle tkruisig weer die Seun van God, hulle word weer tskuldig, en hulle maak sy Naam sleg by die mense. 7 Want wanneer grond baie reën kry en die reën sak diep in die grond, dan groei daar plante in die grond, en die mense wat in die grond werk, kan dit gebruik. Dan tseën God die grond.

8 Maar as daar dorings en onkruid groei, dan beteken dit niks, en dan is die tyd naby wanneer God dit sal tvervloek. Aan die einde sal vuur die grond en alles daarop tverwoes.
9 My vriende, dit is waar dat ons nou al hierdie dinge gesê het, maar ons is baie seker dat dit baie beter gaan met julle en dat God julle sal red. 10 Want God doen nie verkeerd nie, Hy sal nie die dinge vergeet wat julle gedoen het nie, en Hy sal nie vergeet hoe lief julle vir Hom was en hoe julle vir die tgelowiges gesorg het en nou nog sorg nie. 11 Maar ons wil baie graag hê dat elkeen van julle altyd hard moet probeer om tot die einde te wys dat julle baie seker is van die dinge wat julle weet en hoop.

12 Julle moet dit doen, julle moenie lui wees in die geloof nie, julle moet doen soos die mense wat gekry het wat God belowe het. Hulle het dit gekry omdat hulle in God geglo het en omdat hulle geduldig gewag het.

God sal gee wat Hy belowe het, dit is seker

Hebrews 6

1 So let us leave the simple teachings about Christ. Let us grow up as believers. Let us not start all over again with the basic teachings. They taught us that we need to turn away from doing things that lead to death. They taught us that we must have faith in God.2 They taught us about different kinds of baptism. They taught us about placing hands on people. They taught us that people will rise from the dead. They taught us that God will judge everyone. And they taught us that what he decides will last forever.
3 If God permits, we will go beyond those teachings and grow up.
4 What if some people fall away from the faith? It won't be possible to bring them back. It is true that they have seen the light. They have tasted the heavenly gift. They have shared in the Holy Spirit.5 They have tasted the good things of God's word. They have tasted the powers of the age to come.6 But they have fallen away from the faith. So it won't be possible to bring them back. They won't be able to turn away from their sins. They are losing everything. That's because they are nailing the Son of God to the cross all over again. They are bringing shame on him in front of everyone.
7 Some land drinks the rain that falls on it. It produces a crop that is useful to those who farm the land. That land receives God's blessing.8 But other land produces only thorns and weeds. That land isn't worth anything. It is in danger of coming under God's curse. In the end, it will be burned.
9 Dear friends, we have to say these things. But we are sure of better things in your case. We are talking about the things that go along with being saved.
10 God is fair. He will not forget what you have done. He will remember the love you have shown him. You showed it when you helped his people. And you show it when you keep on helping them.
11 We want each of you to be faithful to the very end. We want you to be sure of what you hope for.12 We don't want you to slow down. Instead, be like those who have faith and are patient. They will receive what God promised.

God Keeps His Promise

13 When God made his promise to Abraham, he took an oath to keep it. But there was no one greater than himself to take an oath by. So he took his oath by making an appeal to himself.
14 He said, "I will certainly bless you. I will give you many children." (Genesis 22:17)15 Abraham was patient while he waited. Then he received what God promised him.
16 People take oaths by someone greater than themselves. An oath makes a promise certain. It puts an end to all arguing.17 So God took an oath when he made his promise. He wanted to make it very clear that his purpose does not change. He wanted those who would receive what was promised to know that.
18 God took an oath so we would have good reason not to give up. We have run away from everything else to take hold of the hope offered to us in God's promise. So God gave his promise and his oath. Those two things can't change. He couldn't lie about them.
19 Our hope is certain. It is something for the soul to hold on to. It is strong and secure. It goes all the way into the Most Holy Room behind the curtain.20 That is where Jesus has gone. He went there to open the way ahead of us. He has become a high priest forever, just like Melchizedek.
