Hebrearane 6
1 t Difor må vi gå vidare frå det første vi lærte om Kristus, fram mot full mogning. Vi vil ikkje på nytt leggja grunnvollen med omvending frå døde gjerningar og tru på Gud, 2 med undervising om reinsingsbad og handspålegging, om oppstoda frå dei døde og om evig dom.
3 Slik skal vi gå vidare, om Gud vil.
4 t Når nokon ein gong har vorte opplyst og har smaka den himmelske gåva og fått del i Den heilage ande, 5 har smaka Guds gode ord og kreftene frå den komande verda, 6 og så fell frå, då er det umogleg at dei igjen kan fornyast til omvending. Dei krossfester Guds Son på nytt og gjer han til spott. 7 Når ein åker drikk regnet som stadig fell på han, og ber grøde til nytte for dei som dyrkar han, får han velsigning frå Gud.
8 t Men ber åkeren torn og tistel, er han til inga nytte. Forbanninga er nær, og det endar med at han blir avsvidd.Guds lovnad står fast
9 Men vi har den tru om dykk, de kjære, at det står betre til, og at de er på frelsevegen, endå vi talar som vi gjer. 10 t For Gud er ikkje urettferdig så han gløymer det de har gjort, og den kjærleiken til namnet hans som de har vist med å tena dei heilage, no som før. 11 t Vi ønskjer berre at kvar og ein av dykk heilt til det siste må visa den same iveren etter å vera fullt overtydde i vona.
12 Då må de ikkje vera likesæle, men etterlikna dei som ved tru og tolmod arvar det som Gud har lova.
13 t Då Gud gav Abraham lovnaden, svor han ved seg sjølv, for han hadde ingen større å sverja ved. 14 t Han sa: « Sanneleg, eg vil velsigna deg rikt og gjera ætta di talrik utan ende. » 15 Og Abraham venta med tolmod og fekk det Gud hadde lova han. 16 t Menneske sver ved ein som er større, og eiden er ei stadfesting som gjer ende på alle innvendingar. 17 Gud ville gjera det heilt klårt for dei som skulle arva lovnaden, kor urokkeleg hans avgjerd var; difor gjekk han god for det med eid. 18 t Med lovnad og eid, to ting som ikkje kan endrast – og Gud kan ikkje lyga – skulle vi ha ei sterk trøyst, vi som har gripe den vona som ligg framfor oss og såleis søkt redning. 19 tt Denne vona er eit trygt og fast anker for sjela. Det når innanfor forhenget, 20 t dit Jesus har gått i førevegen for oss, han som til evig tid har vorte øvsteprest av same slag som Melkisedek.
HEBREWS 6
1 We must try to become mature and start thinking about more than just the basic things we were taught about Christ. We shouldn't need to keep talking about why we ought to turn from deeds that bring death and why we ought to have faith in God. 2 And we shouldn't need to keep teaching about baptismst or about the laying on of handst or about people being raised from death and the future judgment.
3 Let's grow up, if God is willing.
4-6 But what about people who turn away after they have already seen the light and have received the gift from heaven and have shared in the Holy Spirit? What about those who turn away after they have received the good message of God and the powers of the future world? There is no way to bring them back. What they are doing is the same as nailing the Son of God to a cross and insulting him in public!
7 A field is useful to farmers, if there is enough rain to make good crops grow. In fact, God will bless such a field.
8 t But land that produces only thornbushes is worthless. It is likely to fall under God's curse, and in the end it will be set on fire.
9 My friends, we are talking this way. But we are sure that you are doing those really good things people do when they are being saved. 10 God is always fair. He will remember how you helped his people in the past and how you are still helping them. You belong to God, and he won't forget the love you have shown his people. 11 We wish each of you would always be eager to show how strong and lasting your hope really is.
12 Then you would never be lazy. You would be following the example of those who had faith and were patient until God kept his promise to them.God's Promise Is Sure
13 No one is greater than God. So he made a promise in his own name when he said to Abraham, 14 t “I, the Lord, will bless you with many descendants!” 15 Then after Abraham had been very patient, he was given what God had promised. 16 When anyone wants to settle an argument, they make a vow by using the name of someone or something greater than themselves. 17 So when God wanted to prove for certain his promise to his people could not be broken, he made a vow.
18 God cannot tell lies! And so his promises and vows are two things that can never be changed.
We have run to God for safety. Now his promises should greatly encourage us to take hold of the hope that is right in front of us. 19 t This hope is like a firm and steady anchor for our souls. In fact, hope reaches behind the curtaint and into the most holy place. 20 t Jesus has gone there ahead of us, and he is our high priest forever, just like Melchizedek.t
