Ê-sai 3

1 Nầy, Chúa, là Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, sẽ cất lấy chói và gậy khỏi Giê-ru-sa-lem và Giu-đa, tức là cả bánh nó cậy và cả nước nó nhờ.2 Ngài sẽ cất lấy những người mạnh mẽ, chiến sĩ, quan xét, đấng tiên tri, thầy bói, trưởng lão,3 cai đội, dòng quí phái, mưu sĩ, lương công, và thuật sĩ.4 Ta sẽ ban cho họ những người trai trẻ làm quan trưởng, và con nít sẽ cai trị họ.5 Dân sự hà hiếp nhau, người với người, lân cận với lân cận; con nít lấn lướt kẻ già cả, người hèn hạ lấn lướt người tôn trọng.6 Khi một người sẽ bắt anh em mình tại nhà cha mà nói với rằng: Ngươi có áo choàng; hãy làm đầu chúng ta, và sự bại hoại nầy hãy thuộc về dưới tay ngươi!7 Trong ngày đó người kia lên tiếng đáp rằng: Không, ta không làm thầy chữa lành, và trong nhà ta không có bánh cũng không có áo; chớ lập ta làm quan cai dân sự.8 Giê-ru-sa-lem phải nghiêng úp, và Giu-đa xiêu đổ; vì lời nói việc làm của họ nghịch cùng Đức Giê-hô-va, và trêu chọc con mắt của uy nghiêm Ngài.9 Bộ mặt họ làm chứng nghịch cùng mình; họ bêu tội rõ ràng như thành Sô-đôm chẳng giấu chút nào. Khốn thay cho linh hồn họ! vì họ đã làm hại cho mình!10 Hãy rao cho kẻ công bình được phước; vì họ sẽ ăn trái của việc làm mình.11 Khốn cho kẻ hung ác, ắt mang họa! Vì họ sẽ thâu lại việc tự tay mình làm ra!12 Dân ta bị con nít hà hiếp, và đàn bà cai trị nó. Hỡi dân ta, kẻ dẫn ngươi làm cho ngươi sai lạc, và họ phá hoại đường lối ngươi.13 Đức Giê-hô-va dấy lên đặng biện luận, Ngài đứng mà xét đoán các dân.14 Đức Giê-hô-va xét đoán các trưởng lão của dân Ngài với các quan trưởng nó: Ấy chính các ngươi là kẻ đã nuốt vườn nho; của cướp bóc kẻ nghèo đang ở trong nhà các ngươi!15 Các ngươi có ý gì mà đè ép dân ta, giày vò mặt kẻ nghèo khó? Chúa, là Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, phán vậy.16 Đức Giê-hô-va lại phán rằng: Vì những con gái Si-ôn kiêu ngạo, ngóng cổ bước tới, liếc mắt trêu ngươi, vừa đi õng ẹo, vừa khua động tiếng dưới chân,17 nên Chúa sẽ làm cho đỉnh đầu con gái Si-ôn đóng vảy, và Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ lột truồng chúng nó.18 Trong ngày đó, Chúa sẽ cất những vòng mắt cá họ trang sức đi, cái lưới và cái cài;19 hoa tai, xuyến và lúp;20 mão, chuyền mắt cá, nịt lưng, hợp hương và bùa đeo;21 cà rá và khoen đeo mũi;22 áo lễ, áo lá rộng, áo choàng, túi nhỏ;23 gương tay, vải mỏng, khăn bịt đầu và màn che mặt.24 Sẽ có mùi hôi hám thay vì thơm tho; dây tói thay vì nịt lưng; đầu sói thay vì tóc quăn; bao gai quấn mình thay vì áo dài phấp phới; dấu phỏng thay vì sắc đẹp.25 Lính chiến ngươi sẽ ngã dưới gươm, những kẻ anh hùng ngươi sẽ bị tử trận.26 Các cửa nó sẽ than khóc và thảm sầu; nó vắng vẻ ngồi trên đất.

Isaiah 3

A Coming Leadership Crisis

1 Look, the sovereign Lord who commands armiest
is about to remove from Jerusalems and Judah
every source of security, includingt
all the food and water,t

2 the mighty men and warriors,
judges and prophets,
omen readers and leaders,t

3 captains of groups of fifty,
the respected citizens,t
advisers and those skilled in magical arts,t
and those who know incantations.

4 The Lord says,t “I will make youths their officials;
malicious young ment will rule over them.

5 The people will treat each other harshly;
men will oppose each other;
neighbors will fight.t
Youths will proudly defy the elderly
and riffraff will challenge those who were once respected.t

6 Indeed, a man will grab his brother
right in his father’s houset and say,t
‘You own a coat –
you be our leader!
This heap of ruins will be under your control.’ts

7 At that timet the brother will shout,t
‘I am no doctor,t
I have no food or coat in my house;
don’t make me a leader of the people!’”

8 Jerusalem certainly stumbles,
Judah falls,
for their words and their actions offend the Lord;t
they rebel against his royal authority.t

9 The look on their facess testifies to their guilt;t
like the people of Sodom they openly boast of their sin.t
Too bad for them!t
For they bring disaster on themselves.

10 Tell the innocentt it will go well with them,t
for they will be rewarded for what they have done.t

11 Too bad for the wicked sinners!
For they will get exactly what they deserve.t

12 Oppressors treat mys people cruelly;
creditors rule over them.s
My people’s leaders mislead them;
they give you confusing directions.t

13 The Lord takes his position to judge;
he stands up to pass sentence on his people.s

14 The Lord comes to pronounce judgment
on the leaders of his people and their officials.
He says,t “It is yout who have ruinedt the vineyard!s
You have stashed in your houses what you have stolen from the poor.t

15 Why do you crush my people
and grind the faces of the poor?”s
The sovereign Lord who commands armiests has spoken.

Washing Away Impurity

16 The Lord says,
“The woment of Zion are proud.
They walk with their heads hight
and flirt with their eyes.
They skip alongt
and the jewelry on their ankles jingles.t

17 Sot the sovereign mastert will afflict the foreheads of Zion’s woment with skin diseases,t
the Lord will make the front of their heads bald.”t
18 s At that timet the sovereign master will remove their beautiful ankle jewelry,t neck ornaments, crescent shaped ornaments,19 earrings, bracelets, veils,20 headdresses, ankle ornaments, sashes, sachets,t amulets,21 rings, nose rings,22 festive dresses, robes, shawls, purses,

23 garments, vests, head coverings, and gowns.ts

24 A putrid stench will replace the smell of spices,t
a rope will replace a belt,
baldness will replace braided locks of hair,
a sackcloth garment will replace a fine robe,
and a prisoner’s brand will replace beauty.

25 Yourt men will fall by the sword,
your strong men will die in battle.t

26 Her gates will mourn and lament;
deprived of her people, she will sit on the ground.t
