Isaías 59

Advertencias contra el pecado

1 ¡Escuchen! El brazo del SEÑOR no es demasiado débil para no salvarlos,
ni su oído demasiado sordo para no oír su clamor.

2 Son sus pecados los que los han separado de Dios.
A causa de esos pecados, él se alejó
y ya no los escuchará.

3 Las manos de ustedes son manos de asesinos,
y tienen los dedos sucios de pecado.
Sus labios están llenos de mentiras
y su boca vomita corrupción.

4 A nadie le importa ser justo y honrado;
las demandas legales de la gente se basan en mentiras.
Conciben malas acciones
y después dan a luz el pecado.

5 Incuban serpientes mortales
y tejen telas de araña.
El que caiga en sus telarañas morirá,
y aun acercarse a ellas será peligroso.

6 Con sus telas de araña no se puede hacer ropa
y nada de lo que ellos hacen es útil.
Todo lo que hacen está lleno de pecado,
y la violencia es su sello característico.

7 Sus pies corren para hacer lo malo
y se apresuran a matar.
Sólo piensan en pecar;
siempre hay sufrimiento y destrucción en sus caminos.

8 No saben dónde encontrar paz
o qué significa ser justo y bueno.
Han trazado caminos torcidos
y quienes los siguen no conocen un momento de paz.

9 Por eso no hay justicia entre nosotros
y no sabemos nada acerca de vivir con rectitud.
Buscamos luz, pero sólo encontramos oscuridad;
buscamos cielos radiantes, pero caminamos en tinieblas.

10 Andamos a tientas, como los ciegos junto a una pared,
palpando para encontrar el camino, como la gente que no tiene ojos.
Hasta en lo más radiante del mediodía,
tropezamos como si estuviera oscuro.
Entre los vivos,
somos como los muertos.

11 Gruñimos como osos hambrientos;
gemimos como el arrullo lastimero de las palomas.
Buscamos la justicia, pero nunca llega;
buscamos el rescate, pero está muy lejos de nosotros.

12 Pues nuestros pecados se han acumulado ante Dios
y testifican en contra de nosotros.
Así es, sabemos muy bien lo pecadores que somos.

13 Sabemos que nos hemos rebelado contra el SEÑOR y también lo hemos negado;
le hemos dado la espalda a nuestro Dios.
Sabemos que hemos sido injustos y opresores,
preparando con cuidado nuestras mentiras engañosas.

14 Nuestros tribunales se oponen a los justos,
y no se encuentra justicia por ninguna parte.
La verdad tropieza por las calles
y la honradez ha sido declarada ilegal.

15 Sí, la verdad ha desaparecido
y se ataca a todo el que abandona la maldad.
El SEÑOR miró y le desagradó
descubrir que no había justicia.

16 Estaba asombrado al ver que nadie intervenía
para ayudar a los oprimidos.
Así que se interpuso él mismo para salvarlos con su brazo fuerte,
sostenido por su propia justicia.

17 Se puso la justicia como coraza
y se colocó en la cabeza el casco de salvación.
Se vistió con una túnica de venganza
y se envolvió en un manto de pasión divina.

18 Él pagará a sus enemigos por sus malas obras
y su furia caerá sobre sus adversarios;
les dará su merecido hasta los confines de la tierra.

19 En el occidente, la gente respetará el nombre del SEÑOR;
en el oriente, lo glorificará.
Pues él vendrá como una tempestuosa marea,
impulsado por el aliento del SEÑOR.t

20 «El Redentor vendrá a Jerusalén
para rescatar en Israel
a los que se hayan apartado de sus pecadost
—dice el SEÑOR—.

21 »Y este es mi pacto con ellos —dice el SEÑOR—. Mi Espíritu no los dejará, ni tampoco estas palabras que les he dado. Estarán en sus labios y en los labios de sus hijos, y de los hijos de sus hijos, para siempre. ¡Yo, el SEÑOR, he hablado!

Isaiah 59

Separation from God

1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short
That it cannot save;
Nor is His ear so dull
That it cannot hear.

2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,
And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.

3 For your hands are defiled with blood
And your fingers with iniquity;
Your lips have spoken falsehood,
Your tongue mutters wickedness.

4 No one sues righteously and no one pleads honestly.
They trust in confusion and speak lies;
They conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity.

5 They hatch adders' eggs and weave the spider's web;
He who eats of their eggs dies,
And from that which is crushed a snake breaks forth.

6 Their webs will not become clothing,
Nor will they cover themselves with their works;
Their works are works of iniquity,
And an act of violence is in their hands.

7 Their feet run to evil,
And they hasten to shed innocent blood;
Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity,
Devastation and destruction are in their highways.

8 They do not know the way of peace,
And there is no justice in their tracks;
They have made their paths crooked,
Whoever treads on them does not know peace.

A Confession of Wickedness

9 Therefore justice is far from us,
And righteousness does not overtake us;
We hope for light, but behold, darkness,
For brightness, but we walk in gloom.

10 We grope along the wall like blind men,
We grope like those who have no eyes;
We stumble at midday as in the twilight,
Among those who are vigorous we are like dead men.

11 All of us growl like bears,
And moan sadly like doves;
We hope for justice, but there is none,
For salvation, but it is far from us.

12 For our transgressions are multiplied before You,
And our sins testify against us;
For our transgressions are with us,
And we know our iniquities:

13 Transgressing and denying the LORD,
And turning away from our God,
Speaking oppression and revolt,
Conceiving in and uttering from the heart lying words.

14 Justice is turned back,
And righteousness stands far away;
For truth has stumbled in the street,
And uprightness cannot enter.

15 Yes, truth is lacking;
And he who turns aside from evil makes himself a prey.
Now the LORD saw,
And it was displeasing in His sight that there was no justice.

16 And He saw that there was no man,
And was astonished that there was no one to intercede;
Then His own arm brought salvation to Him,
And His righteousness upheld Him.

17 He put on righteousness like a breastplate,
And a helmet of salvation on His head;
And He put on garments of vengeance for clothing
And wrapped Himself with zeal as a mantle.

18 According to their deeds, so He will repay,
Wrath to His adversaries, recompense to His enemies;
To the coastlands He will make recompense.

19 So they will fear the name of the LORD from the west
And His glory from the rising of the sun,
For He will come like a rushing stream
Which the wind of the LORD drives.

20 "A Redeemer will come to Zion,
And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob," declares the LORD.

21 "As for Me, this is My covenant with them," says the LORD: "My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring's offspring," says the LORD, "from now and forever."
