ยากอบ 1

1 จดหมายฉบับนี้จากข้าพเจ้ายากอบผู้เป็นผู้รับใช้ของพระเจ้าและขององค์พระเยซูคริสต์เจ้า
ถึงชนสิบสองเผ่าซึ่งกระจัดกระจายอยู่ในชาติต่างๆ
การทดสอบและการทดลอง
2 พี่น้องทั้งหลายเมื่อใดที่ท่านเผชิญความทุกข์ยากนานาประการ จงถือเป็นเรื่องที่น่ายินดีจริงๆ3 เพราะท่านรู้ว่าการทดสอบความเชื่อของท่านนั้นทำให้เกิดความอดทนบากบั่น4 จงอดทนบากบั่นให้ถึงที่สุดเพื่อท่านจะเติบโตเต็มที่และสมบูรณ์เพียบพร้อมและไม่มีสิ่งใดบกพร่องเลย5 ถ้าผู้ใดในพวกท่านขาดสติปัญญา จงทูลขอจากพระเจ้าผู้ประทานด้วยพระทัยกว้างขวางแก่คนทั้งปวงโดยไม่ตำหนิ แล้วผู้นั้นจะได้รับ6 แต่เมื่อเขาทูลขอ เขาต้องเชื่อและไม่สงสัยเลย เพราะผู้ใดที่สงสัยก็เป็นเหมือนคลื่นในทะเลซึ่งซัดไปซัดมาตามแรงลม7 ผู้นั้นอย่าคิดว่าเขาจะได้รับสิ่งใดจากองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเลย

8 เขาเป็นคนสองใจเอาแน่อะไรไม่ได้
9 พี่น้องที่ต่ำต้อยควรภูมิใจในฐานะอันสูงส่งของตน10 แต่ผู้ที่ร่ำรวยควรภูมิใจในฐานะอันต่ำต้อยของตนเพราะเขาจะต้องสูญสิ้นไปเหมือนดอกหญ้า

11 เพราะเมื่อดวงอาทิตย์ขึ้น ความร้อนก็แผดเผาต้นหญ้าให้เหี่ยวแห้งไป ดอกหญ้าก็ร่วงโรย สูญสิ้นความงาม เช่นเดียวกันคนร่ำรวยก็จะเสื่อมสูญไปแม้ขณะดำเนินกิจการของตน

12 ความสุขมีแก่ผู้ที่อดทนบากบั่นเมื่อถูกทดลอง เพราะเมื่อเขายืนหยัดผ่านการทดสอบก็จะได้รับมงกุฎแห่งชีวิตซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ทรงสัญญาไว้กับผู้ที่รักพระองค์
13 ขณะถูกทดลองให้ทำบาป อย่าให้ใครพูดว่า " พระเจ้าทรงทดลองข้าพเจ้า " เพราะความชั่วไม่อาจล่อลวงพระเจ้าให้ทำบาปและพระองค์ก็ไม่ทรงล่อลวงผู้ใดเลย14 ทว่าแต่ละคนถูกทดลองเมื่อตัณหาชั่วของตนเองชักจูงไปให้ติดกับ

15 หลังจากมีตัณหาแล้วก็ก่อให้เกิดบาป และเมื่อบาปโตเต็มที่ก็ก่อให้เกิดความตาย
16 พี่น้องที่รัก อย่าให้ผู้ใดล่อลวงท่านเลย17 ของประทานทุกอย่างที่ดีและล้ำเลิศล้วนมาจากเบื้องบน จากพระบิดาแห่งดวงสว่างทั้งหลายในฟ้าสวรรค์ ผู้ไม่ได้ทรงผันแปรเหมือนเงาที่แปรเปลี่ยน

18 พระองค์ทรงเลือกที่จะให้เราบังเกิดผ่านทางข่าวประเสริฐ t เพื่อเราจะได้เป็นเหมือนผลแรกอันดีเลิศของสรรพสิ่งที่ทรงสร้าง
จงฟังและทำตาม
19 พี่น้องที่รักพึงทราบข้อนี้คือ ทุกคนควรไวในการฟัง ช้าในการพูด และช้าในการโกรธ20 เพราะความโกรธของมนุษย์ไม่ได้ก่อให้เกิดชีวิตอันชอบธรรมที่พระเจ้าทรงประสงค์

21 เหตุฉะนั้นจงขจัดสารพัดความโสมมทางศีลธรรมและความชั่วอันดาษดื่น และถ่อมใจน้อมรับพระวจนะที่ได้ปลูกฝังไว้ในท่านซึ่งสามารถช่วยท่านให้รอดได้
22 อย่าเพียงแต่ฟังพระวจนะซึ่งเป็นการหลอกตัวเอง แต่จงปฏิบัติตามพระวจนะนั้น23 ผู้ใดที่ฟังพระวจนะแต่ไม่ได้ทำตาม ผู้นั้นก็เป็นเหมือนคนที่ส่องกระจกมองหน้าตัวเอง24 หลังจากส่องดูแล้วก็ไปและทันใดนั้นก็ลืมว่าหน้าตาตนเองเป็นอย่างไร

25 ส่วนผู้ที่พินิจดูบทบัญญัติอันสมบูรณ์ซึ่งให้เสรีภาพและทำสิ่งนี้ต่อไปโดยไม่ลืมสิ่งที่เขาได้ยิน แต่ปฏิบัติตาม เขาก็จะได้รับพรในสิ่งที่ตนทำ
26 ถ้าผู้ใดคิดว่าตนเองเคร่งศาสนาแต่ไม่ควบคุมลิ้นของตนให้ดีก็หลอกตัวเอง ศาสนาของเขาก็ไร้ค่า

27 ศาสนาที่พระเจ้าพระบิดาของเรายอมรับว่าบริสุทธิ์และไร้ตำหนิคือ การดูแลลูกกำพร้าและหญิงม่ายที่ทุกข์ร้อนและการรักษาตนเองให้พ้นจากมลทินฝ่ายโลก
อย่าลำเอียง

1  t From James, a servant of God and of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Greetings to the twelve tribes scattered all over the world.t

Faith and Wisdom

4 But you must learn to endure everything, so you will be completely mature and not lacking in anything.
5  t If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking. 6 But when you ask for something, you must have faith and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like an ocean wave tossed around in a storm.

7-8 If you are that kind of person, you can't make up your mind, and you surely can't be trusted. So don't expect the Lord to give you anything at all.

Poor People and //Rich People

11 scorched by the burning heat of the sun. The flowers lose their blossoms, and their beauty is destroyed. This is how the rich will disappear, as they go about their business.

Trials and Temptations

12  t God will bless you, if you don't give up when your faith is being tested. He will reward you with a glorious life, t just as he rewards everyone who loves him.
13  t Don't blame God when you are tempted! God cannot be tempted by evil, and he doesn't use evil to tempt others. 14 We are tempted by our own desires that drag us off and trap us.

15 Our desires make us sin, and when sin is finished with us, it leaves us dead.
16 Don't be fooled, my dear friends. 17 Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father who created all the lights in the heavens. He is always the same and never makes dark shadows by changing.

18 He wanted us to be his own special people, t and so he sent the true message to give us new birth.

Hearing and Obeying

21 You must stop doing anything immoral or evil. Instead be humble and accept the message planted in you to save you.
22 Obey God's message! Don't fool yourselves by just listening to it. 23 If you hear the message and don't obey it, you are like people who stare at themselves in a mirror 24 and forget what they look like as soon as they leave.

25 But you must never stop looking at the perfect law that sets you free. God will bless you in everything you do, if you listen and obey, and don't just hear and forget.
26 If you think you are being religious, but can't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is useless. 27 Religion that pleases God the Father must be pure and spotless. You must help needy orphans and widows and not let this world make you evil.
