یعقُوب 1
تمہید
1 خُدا کے اور خُداوند یِسُو ع مسِیح کے بندہ یعقُو ب کی طرف سے
اُن بارہ قبِیلوں کو جو جا بجا رہتے ہیں سلام پُہنچے۔اِیمان اور حِکمت
2 اَے میرے بھائِیو! جب تُم طرح طرح کی آزمایشوں میں پڑو۔ 3 تو اِس کو یہ جان کر کمال خُوشی کی بات سمجھنا کہ تُمہارے اِیمان کی آزمایش صبر پَیدا کرتی ہے۔ 4 اور صبر کو اپنا پُورا کام کرنے دو تاکہ تُم پُورے اور کامِل ہو جاؤ اور تُم میں کِسی بات کی کمی نہ رہے۔ 5 لیکن اگر تُم میں سے کِسی میں حِکمت کی کمی ہو تو خُدا سے مانگے جو بغَیر ملامت کِئے سب کو فیّاضی کے ساتھ دیتا ہے ۔ اُس کو دی جائے گی۔ 6 مگر اِیمان سے مانگے اور کُچھ شک نہ کرے کیونکہ شک کرنے والا سمُندر کی لہر کی مانِند ہوتا ہے جو ہوا سے بہتی اور اُچھلتی ہے۔ 7 اَیسا آدمی یہ نہ سمجھے کہ مُجھے خُداوند سے کُچھ مِلے گا۔
8 وہ شخص دو دِلا ہے اور اپنی سب باتوں میں بے قِیام۔غربت اور دَولت
9 ادنےٰ بھائی اپنے اعلیٰ مرتبہ پر فخر کرے۔ 10 اور دَولت مند اپنی ادنیٰ حالت پر اِس لِئے کہ گھاس کے پُھول کی طرح جاتا رہے گا۔
11 کیونکہ سُورج نِکلتے ہی سخت دُھوپ پڑتی اور گھاس کو سُکھا دیتی ہے اور اُس کا پُھول گِر جاتا ہے اور اُس کی خُوبصُورتی جاتی رہتی ہے ۔ اِسی طرح دَولت مند بھی اپنی راہ پر چلتے چلتے خاک میں مِل جائے گا۔اِمتحان اور آزمایش
12 مُبارک وہ شخص ہے جو آزمایش کی برداشت کرتا ہے کیونکہ جب مقبُول ٹھہرا تو زِندگی کا وہ تاج حاصِل کرے گا جِس کا خُداوند نے اپنے مُحبّت کرنے والوں سے وعدہ کِیا ہے۔ 13 جب کوئی آزمایا جائے تو یہ نہ کہے کہ میری آزمایش خُدا کی طرف سے ہوتی ہے کیونکہ نہ تو خُدا بدی سے آزمایا جا سکتا ہے اور نہ وہ کِسی کو آزماتا ہے۔ 14 ہاں ۔ ہر شخص اپنی ہی خواہِشوں میں کھنچ کر اور پھنس کر آزمایا جاتا ہے۔
15 پِھر خواہش حامِلہ ہو کر گُناہ کو جنتی ہے اور گُناہ جب بڑھ چُکا تو مَوت پَیدا کرتا ہے۔
16 اَے میرے پِیارے بھائِیو ! فرِیب نہ کھانا۔ 17 ہر اچّھی بخشِش اور ہر کامِل اِنعام اُوپر سے ہے اور نُوروں کے باپ کی طرف سے مِلتا ہے جِس میں نہ کوئی تبدِیلی ہو سکتی ہے اور نہ گردِش کے سبب سے اُس پر سایہ پڑتا ہے۔
18 اُس نے اپنی مرضی سے ہمیں کلامِ حق کے وسِیلہ سے پَیدا کِیا تاکہ اُس کی مخلُوقات میں سے ہم ایک طرح کے پہلے پَھل ہوں۔سُننا اور عمل کرنا
19 اَے میرے پِیارے بھائِیو ! یہ بات تُم جانتے ہو ۔ پس ہر آدمی سُننے میں تیز اور بولنے میں دِھیرا اور قہر میں دِھیما ہو۔ 20 کیونکہ اِنسان کا قہر خُدا کی راست بازی کا کام نہیں کرتا۔
21 اِس لِئے ساری نجاست اور بدی کے فُضلہ کو دُور کر کے اُس کلام کو حلِیمی سے قبُول کر لو جو دِل میں بویا گیا اور تُمہاری رُوحوں کو نجات دے سکتا ہے۔
22 لیکن کلام پر عمل کرنے والے بنو نہ محض سُننے والے جو اپنے آپ کو دھوکا دیتے ہیں۔ 23 کیونکہ جو کوئی کلام کا سُننے والا ہو اور اُس پر عمل کرنے والا نہ ہو وہ اُس شخص کی مانِند ہے جو اپنی قُدرتی صُورت آئینہ میں دیکھتا ہے۔ 24 اِس لِئے کہ وہ اپنے آپ کو دیکھ کر چلا جاتا اور فوراً بُھول جاتا ہے کہ مَیں کَیسا تھا۔
25 لیکن جو شخص آزادی کی کامِل شرِیعت پر غَور سے نظر کرتا رہتا ہے وہ اپنے کام میں اِس لِئے برکت پائے گا کہ سُن کر بُھولتا نہیں بلکہ عمل کرتا ہے۔
26 اگر کوئی اپنے آپ کو دِین دار سمجھے اور اپنی زُبان کو لگام نہ دے بلکہ اپنے دِل کو دھوکا دے تو اُس کی دِین داری باطِل ہے۔ 27 ہمارے خُدا اور باپ کے نزدِیک خالِص اور بے عَیب دِین داری یہ ہے کہ یتِیموں اور بیواؤں کی مُصِیبت کے وقت اُن کی خبر لیں اور اپنے آپ کو دُنیا سے بے داغ رکھّیں۔
James 1
Testing Your Faith
1 James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,
To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings.
2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9 But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;10 and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.11 For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.
12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.
19 t This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.
26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless.27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
