Prejudecățile și Legea împărătească

1 Frații mei, să nu aveți o atitudine părtinitoare în credința voastră în Domnul nostru slăvit Isus Cristos!2 Căci dacă intră în adunareat voastră un om care poartă un inel de aur și o haină strălucitoare, și intră și un sărac, îmbrăcat într-o haină murdară,3 iar voi îi dați atenție celui ce poartă haina strălucitoare și-i spuneți: „Ia loc aici, te rog!“, pe când celui sărac îi spuneți: „Stai acolo!“ sau „Stai la picioarele mele!“,4 oare nu faceți voi deosebire între voi și nu deveniți astfel judecători cu gânduri rele?

5 Ascultați, frații mei preaiubiți! Nu i-a ales oare Dumnezeu pe săracii acestei lumi ca să fie bogați în credință și moștenitori ai Împărățieit pe care le-a promis-o celor ce-L iubesc?6 Însă voi l-ați înjosit pe cel sărac! Oare nu cei bogați vă asupresc și vă târăsc prin tribunale?7 Oare nu ei defăimează Numele bun care este chemat peste voi?8 Dacă împliniți Legea împărătească, potrivit cu Scriptura: „Să-l iubești pe semenul tău ca pe tine însuți“t, bine faceți.9 Dar dacă dați dovadă de părtinire, săvârșiți un păcat și sunteți condamnați de Lege ca unii care încălcați Legea.10 Căci oricine păzește întreaga Lege, dar încalcă o singură poruncă , se face vinovat de toate.11 Căci Cel Ce a spus: „Să nu comiți adulter!“t a spus și: „Să nu ucizi!“t. Așadar, dacă nu comiți adulter, dar ucizi, ai devenit unul care încalcă Legea!12 Vorbiți și purtați-vă ca unii care urmează să fie judecați de legea libertății.13 Căci judecata va fi fără milă față de cel ce n-a arătat milă. Mila triumfă asupra judecății.

Credința și fapta

14 Frații mei, la ce folos dacă cineva spune că are credință, dar nu are fapte? Poate o astfel de credință să-l mântuiască?15 Dacă un frate sau o soră sunt goi și lipsiți de hrana zilnică,16 iar unul dintre voi le spune: „Duceți-vă în pace, încălziți-vă și săturați-vă!“, însă nu le dă cele necesare trupului, ce folos?17 Tot astfel și credința, dacă nu are fapte este moartă în ea însăși.

18 Dar va zice cineva: „Tu ai credință, iar eu am fapte.“ Arată-mi credința ta fără fapte, iar eu îți voi arăta credința mea prin faptele mele!19 Tu crezi că Dumnezeu este Unult? Bine faci! Dar și demonii cred – și se înfioară!20 Of, om fără minte, vrei deci să pricepi că credința fără fapte este zadarnicăt?21 Avraam, strămoșul nostru, n-a fost el îndreptățit prin fapte, atunci când l-a oferit pe fiul său, Isaac, pe altar?22 Vezi deci că credința a lucrat împreună cu faptele lui, și credința a fost făcută desăvârșită prin fapte.23 Astfel a fost împlinită Scriptura care spune: „Avraam L-a crezut pe Dumnezeu, și El i-a socotit acest lucru dreptate“t; și el a fost numit „prietenul lui Dumnezeu“.24 Vedeți așadar că un om este îndreptățit prin fapte, și nu numai prin credință.25 În același fel și prostituata Rahav: n-a fost ea îndreptățită prin fapte, atunci când i-a primit bine pe mesageri și i-a trimis apoi pe un alt drum?26 Așa cum trupul fără duh este mort, tot astfel și credința fără fapte este moartă.

JAMES 2

Warning against Having //Favorites

1 My friends, if you have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, you won't treat some people better than others. 2 Suppose a rich person wearing fancy clothes and a gold ring comes to one of your meetings. And suppose a poor person dressed in worn-out clothes also comes. 3 You must not give the best seat to the one in fancy clothes and tell the one who is poor to stand at the side or sit on the floor.

4 This is the same as saying that some people are better than others, and you would be acting like a crooked judge.
5 My dear friends, pay attention. God has given a lot of faith to the poor people in this world. God has also promised them a share in his kingdom that he will give to everyone who loves him. 6 You mistreat the poor. But isn't it the rich who boss you around and drag you off to court?

7 Aren't they the ones who make fun of your Lord?
8  t You will do all right, if you obey the most important lawt in the Scriptures. It is the law that commands us to love others as much as we love ourselves.

9 But if you treat some people better than others, you have done wrong, and the Scriptures teach that you have sinned.
10  t If you obey every law except one, you are still guilty of breaking them all.

11 t The same God who told us to be faithful in marriage also told us not to murder. So even if you are faithful in marriage, but murder someone, you still have broken God's Law.
12 Speak and act like people who will be judged by the law that sets us free.

13 Do this, because on the day of judgment there will be no pity for those who have not had pity on others. But even in judgment, God is merciful!t

Faith and Works

17 Faith that doesn't lead us to do good deeds is all alone and dead!

18 Suppose someone disagrees and says, “It is possible to have faith without doing kind deeds.”
I would answer, “Prove that you have faith without doing kind deeds, and I will prove that I have faith by doing them.”

19 You surely believe there is only one God. That's fine. Even demons believe this, and it makes them shake with fear.
20 Does some stupid person want proof that faith without deeds is useless? 21 t Well, our ancestor Abraham pleased God by putting his son Isaac on the altar to sacrifice him. 22 Now you see how Abraham's faith and deeds worked together. He proved his faith was real by what he did.

23 t This is what the Scriptures mean by saying, “Abraham had faith in God, and God accepted him.” That's how Abraham became God's friend.
24 You can now see that we please God by what we do and not only by what we believe.

25 t For example, Rahab had been a prostitute. But she pleased God when she welcomed the spies and sent them home by another way.
26 Anyone who doesn't breathe is dead, and faith that doesn't do anything is just as dead!
