2 เพราะ_เรา_ทุก_คน_ทำ_ผิดพลาด_กัน_อยู่_เรื่อย ถ้า_ใคร_ที่_บังคับ_ลิ้น_ไม่_ให้_พูด_ผิดพลาด_ได้ คนๆ_นั้น_ก็_เป็น_คนดี_พร้อม เขา_ก็_จะ_บังคับ_ส่วน_อื่นๆ_ใน_ตัว_เขา_ได้_ด้วย
3 ดู_อย่าง_ม้า_สิ ถ้า_เรา_อยาก_ให้_มัน_เชื่อ_ฟัง เรา_ก็_เอา_บังเหียน_ใส่_ไว้_ใน_ปาก_ของ_มัน เท่า_นี้_เรา_ก็_บังคับ_มัน_ได้_ทั้ง_ตัว_แล้ว
4 ดู_อย่าง_เรือ_สิ ถึง_แม้_จะ_ลำ_ใหญ่_โต_แล่น_ไป_ด้วย_กระแส_ลม_แรง แต่_ก็_ถูก_บังคับ_ด้วย_หางเสือ_อัน_เล็กๆ_เท่า_นั้น คน_ขับ_ก็_บังคับ_ให้_แล่น_ไป_ไหน_มา_ไหน_ได้_ตาม_ชอบ_ใจ
5 ก็_เหมือน_กับ_ลิ้น ถึง_แม้_จะ_เป็น_อวัยวะ_เล็กๆ_แต่_โม้_เรื่อง_ใหญ่_โต_ได้ คิด_ดู_สิ ไฟ_ป่า_ที่_ลุกลาม_ใหญ่_โต_นั้น_เกิด_จาก_เปลว_ไฟ_เล็กๆ_เท่า_นั้น
6 ลิ้น_ก็_คือ_ไฟ_นี่_แหละ มัน_เป็น_โลก_ของ_ความ_ชั่ว_ร้าย ที่_อยู่_ท่าม_กลาง_อวัยวะ_อื่นๆ_ของ_ร่าง_กาย_เรา และ_มัน_ทำ_ให้_ทั้ง_ร่าง_ของ_เรา_เสื่อม_ไป มัน_เผา_เรา_ทั้ง_ชีวิต_ด้วย_ไฟ_ที่_ตรง_มา_จาก_นรก
7 สัตว์_ทุก_ชนิด_ทำ_ให้_เชื่อง_ได้_ทั้ง_นั้น ไม่ว่า_จะ_เป็น นก สัตว์_เลื้อยคลาน และ_สัตว์น้ำ แล้ว_ก็_มี_คน_เคย_ทำ_ให้_พวก_มัน_เชื่อง_มา_แล้ว_ด้วย
8 แต่_กับ_ลิ้น_นี่ ไม่_มี_ใคร_ทำ_ให้_มัน_เชื่อง_ได้_เลย มัน_ดุ_ร้าย_และ_ชั่ว_ช้า เต็ม_ไป_ด้วย_พิษสง_ถึง_ตาย_ได้
9 เรา_ใช้_ลิ้น_สรรเสริญ_องค์_เจ้า_ชีวิต และ_พระบิดา และ_เรา_ก็_ใช้_มัน_สาป_แช่ง_คน_ที่_พระเจ้า_สร้าง_มา_ตาม_แบบ_ของ_พระองค์_ด้วย
10 ปาก_อัน_เดียว_กัน_นี้_แหละ ที่_มี_ทั้ง_คำ_สรรเสริญ และ_คำ_สาป_แช่ง_ออก_มา ขอ_อย่า_ให้_เป็น_อย่าง_นี้_เลย_ครับ_พี่_น้อง
11 จะ_ให้_น้ำ_จืด_และ_น้ำเค็ม_พุ่ง_ออก_มา_จาก_ตาน้ำ_อัน_เดียว_กัน_ได้_อย่าง_ไร
12 พี่_น้อง_ครับ จะ_ให้_ต้น_มะเดื่อ_ออก_ลูก_เป็น_มะกอก_เทศ หรือ_จะ_ให้_ต้น_องุ่น_ออก_ลูก_เป็น_มะเดื่อ_ได้_อย่าง_ไร เป็น_ไป_ไม่_ได้ น้ำพุ_ที่_ให้_น้ำเค็ม_จะ_ให้_น้ำ_จืด_ด้วย ก็_เป็น_ไป_ไม่_ได้_เหมือน_กัน
สติปัญญา_ที่_ถูกต้อง
13 ใคร_ใน_พวก_คุณ_ที่_คิด_ว่า_ตัวเอง_ฉลาด_และ_มี_ความ_รู้_ความ_เข้า_ใจ_ดี ก็_ให้_เขา_แสดง_ออก_ด้วย_การ_ใช้_ชีวิต_อย่าง_ถูกต้อง และ_ถ่อมตัว_ทำ_ทุก_อย่าง_ด้วย_ความ_ฉลาด
14 แต่_ถ้า_ใคร_คิด_ว่า_ตัวเอง_เป็น_คน_ขี้อิจฉา_และ_เห็นแก่_ตัว ก็_ไม่_ต้อง_อวด_ฉลาด และ_พยายาม_ที่_จะ_ปกปิด_ความ_จริง
15 ความ_ฉลาด_อย่าง_นี้_ไม่_ได้_มา_จาก_พระเจ้า แต่_มา_จาก_โลก_นี้ ไม่_ได้_มา_จาก_พระ_วิญญาณ_แต่_มา_จาก_ปีศาจ
16 ที่_ไหน_ที่_มี_แต่_การ_อิจฉา_ริษยา_และ_เห็น_แก่_ตัว ที่_นั่น_ก็_มี_แต่_ความ_วุ่นวาย และ_จะ_มี_แต่_เรื่อง_ชั่ว_ร้าย_เต็ม_ไป_หมด
17 แต่_ความ_ฉลาด_ที่_มา_จาก_พระเจ้า_นั้น อัน_ดับ_แรก_คือ_ความ_บริสุทธิ์ และ_ต่อมา_คือ_การ_สร้าง_ความ_สงบ_สุข เห็น_อก_เห็น_ใจ_ซึ่ง_กัน_และ_กัน มี_ใจ_กว้าง_ขวาง เต็ม_ไป_ด้วย_ความ_เมตตา และ_เกิด_ผลดี_มาก_มาย มี_ความ_ยุติธรรม และ_ซื่อ_สัตย์
18 คน_ที่_สร้าง_ความ_สงบ_สุข_ด้วย_สันติ_วิธี ก็_จะ_ได้_เก็บ_เกี่ยว_ชีวิต_ที่_พระเจ้า_ชอบ_ใจ

The Tongue Is a Fire
1 Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.2 For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.3 Now if we put the bits into the horses' mouths so that they will obey us, we direct their entire body as well.4 Look at the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot desires.
5 So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things.
See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire!6 And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.7 For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race.8 But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God;10 from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.11 Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh.
Wisdom from Above
13 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
