¡Advertencia a los ricos!

1 Ahora escúchenme ustedes, los ricos: lloren y griten de dolor por todo lo que muy pronto van a sufrir.2 Sus riquezas se pudrirán, y la polilla les comerá la ropa.

3 El dinero que han estado juntando en estos últimos tiempos se oxidará, y ese óxido será el testigo que los acusará en el juicio final, y que los destruirá como un fuego.

4 Ustedes no les han pagado el sueldo a sus trabajadores, y el Señor todopoderoso ha oído las protestas de ellos. Ese dinero que no han pagado también los acusará delante de Dios.
5 Ustedes los ricos han vivido con mucho lujo, y se han dado la gran vida en esta tierra. Han engordado tanto que parecen ganado listo para el matadero.

6 Injustamente han acusado y matado a personas inocentes, que ni siquiera podían defenderse.

Paciencia y valor

7-8 Pero ustedes, hermanos, tengan paciencia y no se desesperen, pues ya pronto viene Cristo el Señor. Hagan como el campesino, que con paciencia espera la lluvia, y también espera que la tierra le dé buenas cosechas.

9 No se quejen unos de otros, para que Dios no los castigue, pues él es nuestro juez, y ya pronto viene.

10-11 Sigan el ejemplo de los profetas, que hace mucho tiempo anunciaban el mensaje de Dios. Nosotros los admiramos porque fueron pacientes y soportaron el sufrimiento. Y seguramente se acuerdan de Job, y de cómo soportó con valor los sufrimientos y, al final, Dios lo trató muy bien. Y es que Dios es muy bueno y amoroso con los que sufren.

Otros consejos

12 Sobre todo, queridos hermanos, no juren ni por el cielo ni por la tierra, ni por ninguna otra cosa. Cumplan más bien con su palabra. Cuando digan «sí», que sea «sí»; y cuando digan «no», que sea «no». ¡No vaya a castigarlos Dios por no cumplir con su palabra!
13 Si alguno de ustedes está triste, póngase a orar. Si está alegre, alabe a Dios con cánticos.14 Si alguno está enfermo, que llame a los líderes de la iglesia, para que oren por él; entonces ellos le untarán aceite t y le pedirán al Señor que lo sane.

15 Si oran con confianza, Dios les responderá y sanará al enfermo, y si ha pecado también lo perdonará.
16 Por eso, confiesen sus pecados unos a otros, y oren unos por otros, para que Dios los sane. La oración de una persona buena es muy poderosa, porque Dios la escucha.17 Por ejemplo, el profeta Elías era en todo igual a todos nosotros; pero le pidió a Dios con mucha confianza que no lloviera, ¡y durante tres años y medio no llovió sobre la tierra!

18 Después volvió a orar, ¡y llovió y la tierra dio sus cosechas!
19 Hermanos en Cristo, si alguno de ustedes deja de confiar en la verdad que ha aprendido, y otro le devuelve la confianza,

20 quiero que sepan esto: quien hace que un pecador deje de pecar, salva de la muerte al pecador y logra que Dios le perdone sus muchos pecados. t t t

1 Come now, ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you.2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.3 Your gold and your silver are rusted; and their rust shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have laid up your treasure in the last days.4 Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.5 Ye have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure; ye have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter.6 Ye have condemned, ye have killed the righteous one; he doth not resist you.7 Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receive the early and latter rain.8 Be ye also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand.9 Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that ye be not judged: behold, the judge standeth before the doors.10 Take, brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spake in the name of the Lord.11 Behold, we call them blessed that endured: ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, how that the Lord is full of pity, and merciful.12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under judgment.13 Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praise.14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:15 and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.16 Confess therefore your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working.17 Elijah was a man of like passions with us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months.18 And he prayed again; and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.19 My brethren, if any among you err from the truth, and one convert him;20 let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.
