1 Bấy giờ, Ê-li-pha, người Thê-man đáp lời mà rằng:2 Nếu người ta thử nói với ông, ông sẽ mất lòng chăng? Nhưng ai cầm giữ mình không nói sao được?3 Kìa, ông đã dạy dỗ nhiều người, Và làm cho tay yếu đuối ra mạnh mẽ;4 Các lời nói ông đã đỡ kẻ xiêu tó lên, Và đầu gối lung lay, ông đã làm cho vững bền.5 Nhưng bây giờ tai nạn xảy đến ông, ông lại giận; Nó lâm vào ông, thì ông bị rối lòng.6 Ông kính sợ Đức Chúa Trời, ấy há chẳng phải nơi nương nhờ của ông? Tánh hạnh hoàn toàn của ông, há chẳng phải sự trông cậy của ông sao?7 Ông hãy suy xét lại, nào bao giờ có kẻ vô tội bị hư mất? Đâu có người ngay thẳng lại bị trừ diệt?8 Theo điều tôi đã thấy, ai cày sự gian ác, Và gieo điều khuấy rối, thì lại gặt lấy nó.9 Bởi hơi thở Đức Chúa Trời, chúng bèn hư mất, Tại hơi xịt giận Ngài, họ bị tiêu hao đi.10 Tiếng gầm của sư tử, và giọng sư tử hét đã êm lặng, Và nanh của các sư tử con bị gãy.11 Sư tử mạnh bạo chết vì thiếu mồi, Và các sư tử con bị tản lạc.12 Có một lời mật thấu đến tôi, Lỗ tai tôi văng vẳng nghe tiếng ấy,13 Ban đêm đang khi loài người ngủ mê, Lòng tôi suy tưởng, bèn thấy dị tượng,14 Sự kinh khủng sợ hãi xông hãm tôi, Khiến xương cốt tôi run rẩy.15 Có một thần đi ngang qua trước mặt tôi; Các lông tóc của thịt tôi bèn xửng lên.16 Thần đứng đó, tôi nhìn không biết mặt người; Có một hình dạng ở trước mặt tôi. Tôi nghe tiếng thầm thì nho nhỏ, mà rằng:17 "Loài người hay chết, há công bình hơn Đức Chúa Trời ư? Loài người há được trong sạch hơn Đấng Tạo hóa mình sao?"18 Kìa, Đức Chúa Trời không tin cậy các tôi tớ Ngài, Ngài thường trách sự điên dại của thiên sứ Ngài.19 Phương chi những kẻ ở chòi đất sét được cất trên nền bụi cát, Bị chà nát như loài sâu mọt!20 Giữa khoảng sáng đến chiều, chúng bị hư nát; Hằng chết luôn luôn, mà chẳng có ai lưu ý đến.21 Dây chằng của chúng há chẳng bị dứt trong mình họ sao? Chúng thác, nào được khôn ngoan chi.

Job 4

Eliphaz Begins to Speak

1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered:t

2 “If someonet should attemptt a word with you,
will you be impatient?t
But who can refrain from speakingt?

3 Look,t you have instructedt many;
you have strengthenedt feeble hands.t

4 Your words have supportedt those
who stumbled,t
and you have strengthened the knees
that gave way.ts

5 But now the same thingt comes to you,
and you are discouraged;t
it strikes you,
and you are terrified.t

6 Is not your pietyt your confidence,t
and your blameless ways your hope?ts

7 Call to mind now:s
Who,t being innocent, ever perished?t
And where were upright peoplet ever destroyed?t

8 Even as I have seen,t those who plows iniquityt
and those who sow trouble reap the same.t

9 By the breatht of God they perish,s
and by the blastt of his anger they are consumed.

10 There ist the roaring of the lions
and the growlingt of the young lion,
but the teeth of the young lions are broken.t

11 The mighty liont perishest for lack of prey,
and the cubs of the lionesst are scattered.

Ungodly Complainers Provoke God’s Wrath

12 “Now a word was secretlyt broughtt to me,
and my ear caughtt a whispert of it.

13 In the troubling thoughtst of the dreamst in the night
when a deep sleept falls on men,

14 a tremblingt gripped me – and a terror! –
and made all my bones shake.t

15 Then a breath of airt passest by my face;
it makest the hair of my flesh stand up.

16 It stands still,s
but I cannot recognizet its appearance;
an image is before my eyes,
and I hear a murmuring voice:s

17 “Ist a mortal mant righteoust beforet God?
Or a man pures before his Creator?t

18 Ift Godt puts no trust int his servantss
and attributest follyt to his angels,

19 how much more to those who live in houses of clay,s
whose foundation is in the dust,
who are crushedt liket a moth?

20 They are destroyedt between morning and evening;t
they perish forevers without anyone regarding it.t

21 Is not their excess wealtht taken away from them?st
They die,s yet without attaining wisdom.ts
