Yohanes 1

Kristus Datang ke Dunia Ini

1 Sebelum dunia diciptakan, Firmant telah ada. Firman itu ada bersama Allah. Dan Firman itu adalah Allah.2 Firman ada bersama Allah sejak semula.3 Segala sesuatu dijadikan oleh Dia4 Di dalam Firman itu ada hidup. Hidup itu membawa terang kepada manusia.5 Terang itu bercahaya di dalam kegelapan. Kegelapan tidak menguasai terang itu.6 Datanglah seorang yang diutus Allah, namanya Yohanes.7 Yohanes datang untuk memberi kesaksian mengenai Terang itu8 Yohanes bukan Terang itu, tetapi dia datang untuk memberitakan Terang itu kepada manusia.9 Terang yang sejati datang ke dunia ini. Itulah Terang sejati yang menerangi semua manusia.10 Firman itu telah ada di dunia ini. Dunia ini diciptakan melalui Dia, tetapi dunia ini tidak mengenal-Nya.11 Ia datang ke dunia ini yang merupakan milik-Nya sendiri, tetapi mereka milik-Nya sendiri tidak menerima-Nya.12 Beberapa orang telah menerima-Nya. Mereka itu percaya kepada-Nya. Ia memberikan hak kepada mereka untuk menjadi anak-anak Allah.13 Mereka itu tidak dilahirkan dari darah atau daging, tidak dilahirkan dari keinginan seorang laki-laki, tetapi mereka lahir dari Allah.14 Firman itu telah menjadi manusia dan tinggal di antara kita. Kami telah melihat kemuliaan-Nya, yaitu kemuliaan sebagai satu-satunya Anak Bapa, penuh dengan anugerah dan kebenaran.15 Yohanes memberi kesaksian mengenai Dia, katanya, "Inilah Dia yang kumaksudkan ketika aku berkata, ‘Dia yang datang setelah aku, lebih besar daripadaku, sebab Dia telah ada sebelum aku.’"16 Firman itu penuh dengan anugerah dan kebenaran. Dari Dia kita semua telah menerima anugerah yang bertambah-tambah.17 Hukum Taurat diberikan melalui Musa,t tetapi anugerah dan kebenaran datang melalui Yesus Kristus.18 Tidak ada seorang pun yang pernah melihat Allah, kecuali Anak Tunggal, yang Dia sendiri adalah Allah. Dialah yang terdekat kepada Bapa.

Yohanes Memberi Kesaksian Mengenai Yesus

19 Pemimpin Yahudi dari Yerusalem mengutus beberapa imam dan orang Lewit kepada Yohanest untuk bertanya, "Siapakah engkau?"20 Yohanes berkata dengan bebas. Dia tidak menolak untuk menjawabnya. Yohanes berkata dengan jelas, "Aku bukan Kristust yang dijanjikan itu."

21 Mereka bertanya kepadanya, "Kalau begitu, siapakah engkau? Apakah engkau Eliat?"
Jawab Yohanes, "Bukan!"
Orang Yahudi itu bertanya, "Apakah engkau nabi?"
Jawab Yohanes, "Bukan!"22 Lalu mereka bertanya lagi kepadanya, "Siapakah engkau? Ceritakanlah, siapa engkau sebab kami harus memberi jawaban kepada mereka yang mengutus kami."23 Yohanes mengatakan kepada mereka perkataan Nabit Yesaya,
"Akulah suara orang yang berseru-seru di padang gurun,
‘Luruskanlah jalan bagi Tuhan!’"
24 Mereka yang diutus itu adalah dari kalangan orang Farisi.25 Mereka berkata kepada Yohanes, "Engkau berkata bahwa engkau bukan Kristus yang dijanjikan itu, bukan Elia, dan juga bukan nabi. Jadi, mengapa engkau membaptist orang?"26 Jawab Yohanes, "Aku membaptis orang dengan air, tetapi di tengah-tengah kamu ada Seorang yang tidak kamu kenal.27 Dia datang setelah aku. Aku tidak layak membuka tali sandal-Nya."28 Peristiwa itu terjadi di Betania, di seberang Sungai Yordan. Di sanalah Yohanes membaptis.29 Pada keesokan harinya Yohanes melihat Yesus datang kepadanya. Yohanes berkata, "Lihatlah Anak Domba Allah.t Dialah yang menghapus dosa dunia.30 Dialah yang kumaksud ketika aku berkata, ‘Orang yang datang setelah aku, lebih besar daripadaku, sebab Dia telah ada sebelum aku.’31 Aku sendiri pun tidak mengenal Dia. Tetapi aku datang dan membaptis orang dengan air, supaya orang Israelt dapat mengenal Kristus."32-33 Kemudian Yohanes berkata, "Aku pun tidak mengenal Kristus, tetapi Allah telah mengutus aku untuk membaptis orang dengan air. Allah telah berkata kepadaku, ‘Engkau akan melihat Roht turun ke atas seseorang dan tinggal di atas-Nya. Dialah yang akan membaptis dengan Roh Kudus.t’ Aku telah melihat Roh turun dari langit seperti merpati, dan Roh itu tinggal di atas-Nya.34 Jadi, inilah yang kukatakan kepada kamu, ‘Dia adalah Anak Allah.’"

Pengikut Yesus yang Pertama

35 Pada keesokan harinya Yohanest berdiri lagi di sana bersama dengan dua orang muridnya.36 Yohanes melihat Yesus lewat. Yohanes berkata, "Lihatlah Anak Domba Allah!"37 Kedua murid itu mendengar yang dikatakan Yohanes, maka mereka pergi mengikut Yesus.

38 Yesus menoleh ke belakang, lalu melihat mereka itu mengikut-Nya. Yesus bertanya, "Apa yang kamu cari?"
Murid-murid itu menjawab, "Rabi! (artinya ‘Guru’), di manakah Engkau tinggal?"39 Jawab Yesus, "Ikutlah dan kamu akan melihatnya." Mereka pun mengikut dan melihat tempat tinggal Yesus. Hari itu mereka tinggal bersama Yesus. Waktu itu kira-kira jam empat sore.40 Salah seorang dari mereka yang mendengar perkataan Yohanes lalu mengikut Yesus adalah Andreas, saudara Simon Petrus.41 Andreas segera menemui Simon, saudaranya, dan berkata kepadanya, "Kami telah bertemu dengan Mesias." (Mesias artinya ‘Kristust yang dijanjikan itu.’)42 Lalu Andreas membawa Simon kepada Yesus. Yesus memandang Simon dan berkata, "Engkau Simon, anak Yohanes. Engkau akan disebut Kefas." (Kefas artinya: Petrus.t)43 Pada keesokan harinya Yesus memutuskan untuk berangkat ke Galilea. Yesus bertemu dengan Filipus. Yesus berkata kepada Filipus, "Ikutlah Aku!"44 Filipus berasal dari kota Betsaida. Sebagaimana juga Andreas dan Petrus.45 Filipus bertemu dengan Natanael dan berkata kepadanya, "Kami telah bertemu dengan Dia yang disebut oleh Musat dalam kitab Taurat dan oleh para nabi.t Dialah Yesus, anak Yusuf, dari Nazaret."

46 Kata Natanael kepada Filipus, "Mungkinkah sesuatu yang baik datang dari Nazaret?"
Filipus menjawab, "Mari dan lihatlah!"47 Yesus melihat Natanael datang menghampiri-Nya. Yesus berkata mengenai Natanael, "Lihat, inilah orang Israel yang sejati. Di dalam dirinya tidak ada kepalsuan."

48 Natanael bertanya, "Bagaimana Engkau mengenal aku?"
Jawab Yesus, "Sebelum Filipus mengatakan mengenai Aku kepadamu, Aku telah melihat engkau di bawah pohon ara."49 Kata Natanael kepada Yesus, "Guru, Engkau adalah Anak Allah. Engkau Raja orang Israelt!"50 Yesus berkata kepada Natanael, "Apakah Engkau percaya karena Aku berkata kepadamu, bahwa Aku melihat engkau di bawah pohon ara? Engkau akan melihat hal-hal yang lebih besar daripada itu."51 Yesus juga berkata kepada Natanael, "Yakinlah, engkau akan melihat langit terbuka. Engkau akan melihat malaikat-malaikat Allah turun naikt kepada Anak Manusiat itu."

John 1

The Deity of Jesus Christ

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 He was in the beginning with God.3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not tcomprehend it.

The Witness John

6 There tcame a man sent from God, whose name was John.7 He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him.8 He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.

9 There was the true Light twhich, coming into the world, enlightens every man.10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.11 He came to His town, and those who were His own did not receive Him.12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

The Word Made Flesh

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.15 John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.'"16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

The Testimony of John

19 This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent to him priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?"20 And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, "I am not the Christ."21 They asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" And he *said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."22 Then they said to him, "Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?"23 He said, "I am A VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, 'MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD,' as Isaiah the prophet said."

24 Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.25 They asked him, and said to him, "Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"26 John answered them saying, "I baptize tin water, but among you stands One whom you do not know.27  It is He who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie."28 These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him and *said, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!30 This is He on behalf of whom I said, 'After me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.'31 I did not recognize Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing tin water."32 John testified saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.33 I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize tin water said to me, 'He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.'34 I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God."

Jesus' Public Ministry, First Converts

35 Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples,36 and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and *said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!"37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.38 And Jesus turned and saw them following, and *said to them, "What do you seek?" They said to Him, "Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?"39 He *said to them, "Come, and you will see." So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the ttenth hour.40 One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.41 He *found first his own brother Simon and *said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which translated means Christ).42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John; you shall be called Cephas" (which is translated Peter).

43 The next day He purposed to go into Galilee, and He *found Philip. And Jesus *said to him, "Follow Me."44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.45 Philip *found Nathanael and *said to him, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."46 Nathanael said to him, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip *said to him, "Come and see."47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and *said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!"48 Nathanael *said to Him, "How do You know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."49 Nathanael answered Him, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel."50 Jesus answered and said to him, "Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these."51 And He *said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
