ヨハネによる福音書 1

一

1-2 まだ何もない時、キリストは神と共におられました。　キリストは、いつの時代にも生きておられます。　キリストは神なのです。　3 このキリストが、すべてのものをお造りになりました。　そうでないものは一つもありません。　4 キリストには永遠のいのちがあります。　全人類に光を与えるいのちです。　5 そのいのちは、暗やみの中でさんぜんと輝き、どんな暗やみも、この光を消すことはできません。
6-7 イエス・キリストこそほんとうの光です。　このことを証言させるために、神はバプテスマのヨハネをお遣わしになりました。　8 ヨハネ自身は光ではなく、ただその光を指し示す証人にすぎません。　9 後に、ほんとうの光である方が来て、全世界の人々を照らしてくださったのです。
10 　ところが、世界を造った方が来られたというのに、だれもこの方に気づきませんでした。　11-12 自分の国にいながら、自分の民のユダヤ人にさえ、受け入れてはもらえなかったのです。　この方を心から喜び迎えたのは、ほんのわずかな人にすぎません。　しかし、受け入れた人はみな、この方から、神の子供となる特権をいただきました。　それにはただ、この方が救ってくださると信じればよかったのです。　13 信じる人はだれでも、新しく生まれ変わります。　神が、そう望まれたのです。　人間の熱意や計画は全く関係ありません。
14 　キリストは人間となり、この地上で私たちと共に生活なさいました。　彼は恵みと真実の方でした。　私たちはこの方の栄光を目のあたりにしました。　それは天の父のひとり子としての栄光でした。
15 　ヨハネは人々にキリストを紹介しました。　「私が今まで、『まもなく来られる方は、私よりはるかに偉大な方だ。　私が生まれるずっと前からおられたからだ』と口をすっぱくして言ってきたのは、まさにこの方のことなのだ。」　16 この方の恵みは尽きるところを知りません。　私たちはみな、次から次へと、あふれるばかりに恵みをいただきました。　17 モーセはきびしい命令と、情け容赦もない法律とを与えただけでしたが、イエス・キリストはその上に、愛に満ちた赦しの道を備えてくださったからです。　18 いまだかつて、実際に神を見た人はいません。　しかしもちろん、神のひとり子だけは別です。　御子は、父なる神といつもいっしょですから、神について知っていることは、何でも教えてくださったのです。
ヨハネの証言
19 　ユダヤ人の指導者たちは、エルサレムから、祭司とその助手たちとをヨハネのもとへ派遣し、「おまえはキリストか」と問いたださせました。
20 　ヨハネは、「とんでもない」と、きっぱり否定しました。
21 　「そうか。　では、いったい何者だ。　エリヤか。」
「いや、違う。」
「すると、あの預言者か。」
「いや。」
22 　「では、いったい何者か。　はっきりしてくれ。　私たちは帰って報告しなければならないのだ。　ええっ、おまえは何者なのだ。」
23 　「私は、イザヤが預言した、あの、荒野から聞こえる叫び声にすぎない。　『主を迎える準備をせよ』と叫ぶ声、あれが私だ。」
24-25 パリサイ人（特におきてを守ることに熱心なユダヤ教の一派）から派遣された人たちは、なおも問い詰めました。　「キリストでも、エリヤでも、あの預言者でもないのなら、いったいどんな資格でバプテスマ（洗礼）を授けているのか。」
26 　ヨハネは答えました。　「私はただ、水でバプテスマを授けているだけだ。　しかし、ここにいる人々の中には、あなたがたのまだ知らない方がおられる。　27 まもなく、あなたがたの間で働きを始められるだろう。　私には、その方のしもべとなる資格もないのだ。」
28 　この出来事は、ヨハネがバプテスマを授けていたヨルダン川の東岸にある、ベタニヤ村で起こりました。
29 　翌日のことです。　ヨハネは、イエスが来られるのを見て、言いました。　「ご覧なさい！　この方こそ、世の人々の罪を取り除く神の小羊だ。　30 ああ、『まもなく、私よりはるかに偉大な方がおいでになる。　私よりずっと前からおられる方だ』と常々話していたのは、この方のことだったのだ。　31 今までは、この方だとわからなかった。　だが、私がここで水のバプテスマを授けているのは、まさにこの方を、イスラエルの人々に紹介するためだったのだ。」
32 　ヨハネはさらに続けました。　「確かに、聖霊様が鳩のように天から下り、この方の上にとどまられるのを見た。
33 　初めは私も、この方がその方だとはわからなかった。　だが、バプテスマを授けさせるために私を遣わす時、神様はこう言われたのだ。『もし、聖霊がだれかに下り、その上にとどまるのを見たら、その方こそ、あなたの捜し求める方、聖霊のバプテスマをお授けになる方だ。』　34 そのとおりのことが、この方に起こった。　しかと、この目で見たのだ。　この方は神の子にまちがいない。」
イエス、弟子を集める
35 　その翌日、ヨハネは二人の弟子といっしょに立っていました。　36 目を上げると、イエスが歩いておられるではありませんか。　その姿を食い入るように見つめながら、ヨハネは、「ご覧なさい。　神の小羊だっ！」と言いました。
37 　これを聞いた弟子は二人とも、急いでイエスのあとを追いかけました。
38 　その足音にイエスはふり向かれ、二人を見てお尋ねになりました。「おや、何かご用でしょうか？」
「失礼ですが、先生。　どちらにお住まいで？」
39 　「いっしょに来なさい。　すぐにわかりますよ。」こう言われて二人は、イエスの泊まっておられる所までついて行きました。　だいたい午後四時ごろだったでしょうか。　その日は、それからずっと、イエスといっしょにいました。　40 二人のうち一人は、シモン・ペテロの兄弟アンデレでした。
41 　それから、アンデレはシモンを捜し出し、「とうとうメシヤ〔訳すとキリスト〕様にお会いしたよ」と言いました。　42 そして、彼をイエスのところへ引っ張って行きました。
　イエスはシモンをじっと見つめられ、「あなたはヨハネの子シモンですね。　だがこれからは、ペテロ、つまり『岩』と呼ばせてもらいますよ」と言われました。
43 　その翌日、イエスは、ガリラヤへ出発なさいました。　途中、ピリポを見つけ、「さあ、ついて来なさい」と言われました。　44 ピリポは、アンデレやペテロと同郷で、ベツサイダの出身だったのです。
45 　ピリポはナタナエルを捜しに行き、会うなり言いました。
「メシヤ（救い主）様にお会いしたぞ。　モーセや預言者たちが言ったあのお方だよ。　ナザレ出身のイエスという方なんだ。　ヨセフという人の息子さんだそうだ。」
46 　「ナザレだって！」ナタナエルはびっくりしました。　「あんな所から、すぐれた人物なんか出っこないぜ。」
　しかしピリポは、「まあまあ、とにかく来てみろよ。　自分の目で確かめたらいいだろう」と言いはります。
47 　ナタナエルも行ってみる気になりました。　イエスは、歩いて来るナタナエルの姿に目をとめておっしゃいました。
「根っからの正直者がやって来ます。　この人こそ生粋のイスラエル人です。」
48 　「どうして、おわかりなのですか。」ナタナエルは聞き返しました。
「見ましたよ。　ピリポがあなたに会う前に、いちじくの木の下にいたのを。」
49 　「先生。　あなた様は神の子、イスラエルの王です！」
50 　「そう信じるのは、あなたがいちじくの木の下にいるのを見たと、わたしが言ったからですか。　だが、それよりはるかにすばらしい証拠があります。　51 天が開けて、神の使いたちがメシヤのわたしをとおって行き来するのを、やがて、あなたがたは見るのです。」イエス、水をぶどう酒に変える

John 1

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 The same was in the beginning with God.3 All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made.4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.5 And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.6 There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.7 The same came for witness, that he might bear witness of the light, that all might believe through him.8 He was not the light, but came that he might bear witness of the light.9 There was the true light, even the light which lighteth every man, coming into the world.10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.11 He came unto his own, and they that were his own received him not.12 But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.15 John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me is become before me: for he was before me.16 For of his fulness we all received, and grace for grace.17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.19 And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent unto him from Jerusalem priests and Levites to ask him, Who art thou?20 And he confessed, and denied not; and he confessed, I am not the Christ.21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.22 They said therefore unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said Isaiah the prophet.24 And they had been sent from the Pharisees.25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Christ, neither Elijah, neither the prophet?26 John answered them, saying, I baptize in water: in the midst of you standeth one whom ye know not,27 even he that cometh after me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to unloose.28 These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.29 On the morrow he seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world!30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man who is become before me: for he was before me.31 And I knew him not; but that he should be made manifest to Israel, for this cause came I baptizing in water.32 And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him.33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.34 And I have seen, and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.35 Again on the morrow John was standing, and two of his disciples;36 and he looked upon Jesus as he walked, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.38 And Jesus turned, and beheld them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? And they said unto him, Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), where abideth thou?39 He saith unto them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he abode; and they abode with him that day: it was about the tenth hour.40 One of the two that heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.41 He findeth first his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being interpreted, Christ).42 He brought him unto Jesus. Jesus looked upon him, and said, Thou art Simon the son of John: thou shalt be called Cephas (which is by interpretation, Peter).43 On the morrow he was minded to go forth into Galilee, and he findeth Philip: and Jesus saith unto him, Follow me.44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.49 Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art King of Israel.50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee underneath the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
