La parabole du berger et des brebis
1 Jésus dit : « Oui, je vous le déclare, c’est la vérité : celui qui n’entre pas par la porte dans l’enclos des brebist, mais qui passe par-dessus le mur à un autre endroit, celui-là est un voleur, un brigand. 2 Mais celui qui entre par la porte est le berger des brebis. 3 Le gardien lui ouvre la porte et les brebis écoutent sa voix. Il appelle ses brebis chacune par son nom et les mène dehors. 4 Quand il les a toutes fait sortir, il marche devant elles et les brebis le suivent, parce qu’elles connaissent sa voix.
5 Mais elles ne suivront pas un inconnu ; au contraire, elles fuiront loin de lui, parce qu’elles ne connaissent pas sa voix. »
6 Jésus leur raconta cette parabole, mais ses auditeurs ne comprirent pas ce qu’il voulait dire.Jésus, le bon berger
7 Jésus dit encore : « Oui, je vous le déclare, c’est la vérité : je suis la porte de l’enclos des brebis. 8 Tous ceux qui sont venus avant moi sont des voleurs, des brigandst ; mais les brebis ne les ont pas écoutés. 9 Je suis la porte. Celui qui entre en passant par moi sera sauvé ; il pourra entrer et sortir, et il trouvera sa nourrituret. 10 Le voleur vient uniquement pour voler, tuer et détruire. Moi, je suis venu pour que les humains aient la vie et l’aient en abondance. 11 Je suis le bon bergert. Le bon berger est prêt à donner sa vie pour ses brebis. 12 L’homme qui ne travaille que pour de l’argent n’est pas vraiment le berger ; les brebis ne lui appartiennent pas. Il les abandonne et s’enfuit quand il voit venir le loup. Alors le loup se jette sur les brebis et disperse le troupeau. 13 Voilà ce qui arrive parce que cet homme ne travaille que pour de l’argent et ne se soucie pas des brebis. 14 Je suis le bon berger. Je connais mes brebis et elles me connaissent, 15 de même que le Père me connaît et que je connais le Pèret. Et je donne ma vie pour mes brebis. 16 J’ai encore d’autres brebis qui ne sont pas dans cet enclos. Je dois aussi les conduire ; elles écouteront ma voix, et elles deviendront un seul troupeaut avec un seul berger. 17 Le Père m’aime parce que je donne ma vie, pour ensuite l’obtenir à nouveau.
18 Personne ne me prend la vie, mais je la donne volontairement. J’ai le pouvoir de la donner et j’ai le pouvoir de l’obtenir à nouveau. Cela correspond à l’ordre que mon Père m’a donné. »
19 Les Juifs furent de nouveau divisés à cause de ces paroles. 20 Beaucoup d’entre eux disaient : « Il est possédé d’un esprit mauvais ! Il est fou ! Pourquoi l’écoutez-vous ? »
21 D’autres disaient : « Un possédé ne parlerait pas ainsi. Un esprit mauvais peut-il rendre la vue aux aveugles ? »Jésus est rejeté
22 C’était l’hiver et l’on célébrait à Jérusalem la fête de la Dédicacet. 23 Jésus allait et venait dans la galerie à colonnes de Salomon, au temple. 24 Les Juifs se rassemblèrent alors autour de lui et lui dirent : « Jusqu’à quand vas-tu nous maintenir dans l’incertitude ? Si tu es le Messie, dis-le-nous franchement. » 25 Jésus leur répondit : « Je vous l’ai déjà dit, mais vous ne me croyez pas. Les œuvres que je fais au nom de mon Père témoignent en ma faveur. 26 Mais vous ne croyez pas, parce que vous ne faites pas partie de mes brebis. 27 Mes brebis écoutent ma voix ; je les connais et elles me suivent. 28 Je leur donne la vie éternelle, elles ne seront jamais perdues et personne ne les arrachera de ma main. 29 Ce que mon Père m’a donné est plus grand que toutt et personne ne peut rien arracher de la main du Père.
30 Le Père et moi, nous sommes un. »
31 Les Juifs ramassèrent de nouveau des pierres pour les jeter contre luit. 32 Jésus leur dit alors : « Je vous ai fait voir beaucoup d’œuvres bonnes de la part du Père. Pour laquelle de ces œuvres voulez-vous me tuer à coups de pierres ? » 33 Les Juifs lui répondirent : « Nous ne voulons pas te tuer à coups de pierres pour une œuvre bonne, mais parce que tu fais insulte à Dieu : tu n’es qu’un homme et tu veux te faire Dieut ! » 34 Jésus répondit : « Il est écrit dans votre loi que Dieu a dit : “Vous êtes des dieuxt.” 35 Nous savons qu’on ne peut pas supprimer ce qu’affirme l’Écriture. Or, Dieu a appelé dieux ceux auxquels s’adressait sa parole. 36 Et moi, le Père m’a choisi et envoyé dans le monde. Comment donc pouvez-vous dire que je fais insulte à Dieu parce que j’ai déclaré que je suis le Fils de Dieu ? 37 Si je ne fais pas les œuvres de mon Père, ne me croyez pas. 38 Mais si je les fais, quand même vous ne me croiriez pas, croyez au moins à ces œuvres afin que vous sachiez une fois pour toutes que le Père vit en moi et que je vis dans le Père. » 39 Ils cherchèrent une fois de plus à l’arrêter, mais il leur échappa. 40 Jésus s’en alla de nouveau de l’autre côté de la rivière, le Jourdain, à l’endroit où Jean avait baptisé précédemmentt, et il y resta. 41 Beaucoup de gens vinrent à lui. Ils disaient : « Jean n’a fait aucun signe miraculeux, mais tout ce qu’il a dit de cet homme était vrai. » 42 Et là, beaucoup crurent en Jésus.
John 10
1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.4 When he hath put forth all his own, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.7 Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.8 All that came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.9 I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.10 The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.12 He that is a hireling, and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, beholdeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf snatcheth them, and scattereth them:13 he fleeth because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.14 I am the good shepherd; and I know mine own, and mine own know me,15 even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice: and they shall become one flock, one shepherd.17 Therefore doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.18 No one taketh it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father.19 There arose a division again among the Jews because of these words.20 And many of them said, He hath a demon, and is mad; why hear ye him?21 Others said, These are not the sayings of one possessed with a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?22 And it was the feast of the dedication at Jerusalem:23 it was winter; and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon’s porch.24 The Jews therefore came round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly.25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, these bear witness of me.26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep.27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:28 and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.29 My Father, who hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.30 I and the Father are one.31 The Jews took up stones again to stone him.32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from the Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?33 The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, ye are gods?35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken),36 say ye of him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.38 But if I do them, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.39 They sought again to take him: and he went forth out of their hand.40 And he went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John was at the first baptizing; and there be abode.41 And many came unto him; and they said, John indeed did no sign: but all things whatsoever John spake of this man were true.42 And many believed on him there.
