Dal jsem vám příklad

1 Před Velikonočními svátky už Ježíš věděl, že přišla jeho chvíle, aby odešel z tohoto světa k Otci. Miloval své druhy na tomto světě, miloval je až do konce. 2 Ještě před večeří ďábel vnukl do srdce Jidáše, syna Šimona Iškariotského, že ho má zradit.

3 Ježíš, vědom si toho, že mu Otec dal všechno do rukou a že vyšel od Boha a jde k Bohu, 4 vstal od večeře, odložil plášť a opásal se ručníkem. 5 Nalil vodu do umyvadla a začal učedníkům umývat nohy a utírat je ručníkem, jímž byl přepásán.

6 Když přistoupil k Šimonu Petrovi, ten mu řekl: „Pane, ty mi chceš mýt nohy?!“

7 „Teď ještě nechápeš, co dělám,“ odpověděl mu Ježíš, „ale později porozumíš.“

8 „Ty mi přece nemůžeš mýt nohy!“ namítal Petr.
„Když tě neumyji, nebudeš mít se mnou nic společného,“ odpověděl Ježíš.

9 „Pane!“ zvolal Šimon Petr. „Nemyj mi jen nohy, ale i ruce a hlavu!“

10 Ježíš mu řekl: „Kdo je vykoupán, potřebuje umýt jen nohy, neboť je celý čistý. I vy jste čistí, ale ne všichni.“ 11 (Věděl totiž o svém zrádci, proto řekl: „Ne všichni jste čistí.“)

12 Když jim umyl nohy, znovu se oblékl, posadil se zpět za stůl a řekl jim: „Chápete, co jsem vám udělal? 13 Nazýváte mě Mistrem a Pánem a máte pravdu, neboť jím jsem. 14 Když jsem však já, váš Pán a Mistr, umyl nohy vám, máte i vy mýt nohy jeden druhému. 15 Dal jsem vám příklad, abyste se chovali, jako jsem se já zachoval k vám. 16 Amen, amen, říkám vám: Služebník není větší než jeho pán a posel není větší než ten, kdo ho poslal. 17 Teď to víte; blaze vám, když se tím budete řídit.

18 Nemluvím o vás všech. Já vím, které jsem vyvolil; ať se ale naplní Písmo: ‚Ten, který jí se mnou chléb, pozvedl patu proti mně.‘ 19 Říkám vám to už teď, předtím než se to stane, abyste, až se to stane, uvěřili, že já jsem. 20 Amen, amen, říkám vám: Kdo přijímá mého posla, přijímá mě; a kdo přijímá mě, přijímá Toho, který mě poslal.“

Jeden z vás mě zradí

21 Po těchto slovech Ježíš hluboce rozrušen prohlásil: „Amen, amen, říkám vám, že jeden z vás mě zradí.“

22 Učedníci se začali rozhlížet jeden po druhém, netušíce, o kom to mluví. 23 Jeden z jeho učedníků, ten, kterého Ježíš miloval, ležel u stolu po Ježíšově boku. 24 Šimon Petr mu naznačil, ať se zeptá, o kom to mluvil. 25 Objal ho tedy a zeptal se: „Pane, kdo to je?“

26 „Ten, komu podám namočené sousto,“ odpověděl Ježíš. Namočil sousto a podal je Jidášovi, synu Šimona Iškariotského.

27 A hned po tom soustu vešel do Jidáše satan.
„Co děláš, dělej rychle,“ řekl mu Ježíš. 28 Nikdo ze stolujících ale nerozuměl, proč mu to řekl. 29 Jidáš měl na starosti pokladnu, a tak si někteří mysleli, že mu Ježíš řekl, ať nakoupí, co je potřeba na svátek, nebo ať dá nějaké peníze chudým.

30 Jidáš vzal to sousto a hned vyšel ven. Byla noc.

Nové přikázání

31 Po jeho odchodu Ježíš řekl: „Syn člověka je teď oslaven a Bůh je oslaven v něm. 32 A protože je Bůh oslaven v něm, Bůh ho také oslaví sám v sobě, a to hned. 33 Moji drazí, ještě na kratičko jsem s vámi. Budete mě hledat, ale říkám vám, co jsem už řekl Židům: ‚Jdu tam, kam vy nemůžete.‘

34 Dávám vám nové přikázání: Milujte jedni druhé. Milujte jedni druhé, jako jsem já miloval vás. 35 Podle toho všichni poznají, že jste moji učedníci, když budete mít lásku jedni k druhým.“

36 Šimon Petr se ho zeptal: „Pane, kam jdeš?“
„Tam, kam jdu, teď za mnou nemůžeš,“ odpověděl mu Ježíš, „ale přijdeš za mnou později.“

37 „Pane, proč za tebou nemohu teď?“ ptal se Petr. „Položím za tebe život!“

38 „Položíš za mě život?“ opáčil Ježíš. „Amen, amen, říkám ti: Než zakokrhá kohout, třikrát mě zapřeš.“

John 13

Washing the Disciples’ Feet

1 Just before the Passover feast, Jesus knew that his timet had come to departt from this world to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now loved them to the very end.ts2 The evening mealt was in progress, and the devil had already put into the hearts of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, that he should betrayt Jesus.t3 Because Jesust knew that the Father had handed all things over to him,t and that he had come from God and was going back to God,4 he got up from the meal, removedt his outer clothes,t took a towel and tied it around himself.t

5 He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel he had wrapped around himself.t
6 Then he came to Simon Peter. Petert said to him, “Lord, are you going to washt my feet?”7 Jesus replied,t “You do not understandt what I am doing now, but you will understandt after these things.”8 Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet!”t Jesus replied,t “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.”t9 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, washt not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!”10 Jesus replied,t “The one who has bathed needs only to wash his feet,t but is completelyt clean.s And you disciplest are clean, but not every one of you.”

11 (For Jesust knew the one who was going to betray him. For this reason he said, “Not every one of you ist clean.”)s
12 So when Jesust had washed their feet and put his outer clothing back on, he took his place at the tablet again and said to them, “Do you understandt what I have done for you?13 You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and do so correctly,t for that is what I am.t14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you too ought to wash one another’s feet.15 For I have given you an examples – you should do just as I have done for you.16 I tell you the solemn truth,t the slavet is not greater than his master, nor is the one who is sent as a messengert greater than the one who sent him.

17 If you understandt these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

The Announcement of Jesus’ Betrayal

18 “What I am saying does not refer to all of you. I know the ones I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture,t ‘The one who eats my breadthas turned against me.’ts19 I am telling you this now,t before it happens, so that when it happens you may believet that I am he.t

20 I tell you the solemn truth,t whoever acceptst the one I send accepts me, and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”s
21 When he had said these things, Jesus was greatly distressedt in spirit, and testified,t “I tell you the solemn truth,t one of you will betray me.”t22 The disciples began to look at one another, worried and perplexedt to know which of them he was talking about.23 One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved,s was at the tablet to the right of Jesus in a place of honor.ts24 So Simon Peters gestured to this disciplet to ask Jesust who it was he was referring to.s25 Then the disciple whom Jesus lovedt leaned back against Jesus’ chest and asked him, “Lord, who is it?”26 Jesus replied,t “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of breads after I have dipped it in the dish.”t Then he dipped the piece of bread in the disht and gave it to Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son.27 And after Judast took the piece of bread, Satan entered into him.ts Jesus said to him,t “What you are about to do, do quickly.”28 (Now none of those present at the tablet understoodt why Jesust said this to Judas.t29 Some thought that, because Judas had the money box, Jesus was telling him to buy whatever they needed for the feast,t or to give something to the poor.)s

30 Judast took the piece of bread and went out immediately. (Now it was night.)s

The Prediction of Peter’s Denial

31 Whent Judast had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.32 If God is glorified in him,s God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him right away.t

33 Children, I am still with you for a little while. You will look for me,t and just as I said to the Jewish religious leaders,t ‘Where I am going you cannot come,’s now I tell you the same.t
34 “I give you a new commandment – to lovet one another. Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.s

35 Everyonet will know by this that you are my disciples – if you have love for one another.”
36 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied,t “Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.”37 Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!”t

38 Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me?t I tell you the solemn truth,t the rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times!
