ヨハネによる福音書 13

一三

1 　過越の祭りの前に、イエスは、いよいよ、この世を去って父のもとに帰る最後の時が来たと覚悟を決め、弟子たちを最後まで徹底的に愛しとおされました。　2 夕食の間のことです。　悪魔はすでに、シモンの子、イスカリオテのユダに、今夜こそ、かねてからの計画を実行に移す絶好の時だという考えを、吹き込んでいました。　3 イエスは、父がすべてのものを与えてくださったことと、自分が神のもとから来て、また神のもとに帰ろうとしていることを知り、　4 夕食の席から、ゆっくり立ち上がられ、上着を脱ぎ、手ぬぐいを取って腰に巻かれました。　5 そして、たらいに水を入れ、弟子たち一人一人の足を洗い、腰の手ぬぐいでふき始められたのです。
6 　シモン・ペテロの番になりました。　ペテロは言いました。　「主よ。　足を洗っていただくなど、もったいなくてとてもできません。」
7 　「なぜこんなことをするのか、今はわからないでしょう。　だが、あとでわかるようになります。」
8 　「いいえ。　わからなくてもけっこうです。　どうかもう、おやめください」とペテロは言いはります。
「だが、足を洗ってあげなければ、わたしの仲間にはなれません。」
9 　これには、ペテロもすっかりあわてて、「そ、それなら、足だけとおっしゃらず、手も、それに頭も！」と叫びました。
10 　「水浴した者は、足だけ洗えば、全身きれいになります。　今あなたがたはきれいなのです。　もっとも、みんながみんな、というわけではありませんが。」　11 イエスは、だれが裏切り者かちゃんとお見通しだったので、「みんながみんな、きれいなわけではありません」と言われたのです。
12 　弟子たちの足を洗い終えると、また上着をきて、席に戻り、改めてお尋ねになりました。　「わたしのしたことがわかりますか。　13 あなたがたはわたしを『先生』とも『主』とも呼んでいます。　それはかまいません。　まさにそのとおりなのですから。　14 その、主でも先生でもあるわたしが足を洗ってあげたのですから、あなたがたも互いに足を洗い合いなさい。　15 わたしは模範を示したのです。　わたしがしたとおりに、あなたがたもしなさい。　16 使用人は主人より偉くはないし、遣わした本人より使者のほうが大物だということもありえません。　17 このことがわかったら、すぐ実行しなさい。　これこそ祝福される道です。
18 　あなたがた全員に、こう言っているのではありません。　あなたがたを選んだのは、このわたしです。　ですから、一人一人がどんな人間かよく知っています。　聖書（旧約）には、『わたしと食事を共にしている者が、わたしを裏切る』とはっきり書いてあるでしょう。　いいですか。　まもなく、そのとおりのことが起こるのです。　19 今そのことを話しておきましょう。　その時になって、あなたがたがわたしを信じられるように。
20 　よく言っておきます。　わたしが遣わす者を心から受け入れる人はだれでも、わたしを受け入れるのです。　そして、わたしを心から受け入れることは、わたしをお遣わしになった父を受け入れることなのです。」
新しい戒めを与えるイエス
21 　ここでイエスは、込み上げる霊の悲しみを抑え、叫ばれました。「そうです。　まぎれもない事実なのです。　あなたがたのうちの一人が、わたしを裏切るのです！」　22 弟子たちは、だれのことか見当もつきません。　きょとんとして顔を見合わせるばかりです。　23 ところで、私は日ごろから特に目をかけていただいていたので、食卓では先生の隣に座っていました。　24 だからでしょうか、シモン・ペテロが私に、「そんな恐ろしいことをしでかすのは、いったいだれか聞いてくれ」と合図を送ってきました。
25 　そこで私は、先生に、「主よ。　だれがそんなことを？」と尋ねました。
26 　「わたしが手ずからスープに浸したパンを与える者がそうです。」
こう言われると、イエスはパンを浸し、イスカリオテのシモンの子ユダに与えられたのです。
27 　ユダがそのパンを口に入れるが早いか、サタンがユダの心に入り込みました。　そこで、イエスはユダに、「さあ、急いで、することをしなさい」と言われました。
28 　食卓に着いているほかの者はみな、何のことやら、さっぱりわかりません。　29 ユダが一行の会計係だったので、おおかた、食べ物の代金の支払いか、貧しい人々に金を恵むことぐらいだろう、と思った者もいました。　30 ユダはぱっと席を立つと、夜のやみに飛び出して行きました。
31 　ユダが姿を消すとすぐ、イエスが言われました。　「時が来ました。　神の栄光がわたしの回りに輝き渡るのも、時間の問題です。　同時にまた、わたしの身に起こるすべてのことゆえに、神も大いにほめたたえられるでしょう。　32 神はわたしに、ご自分の栄光を与えてくださるのです。　それも、すぐに。　33 心から愛してやまない子供たちよ。　ああ、もう時間がありません。　あなたがたを残して行かなければならないのです......。　その時には、いくらわたしを捜しても、わたしのところへ来ることはできません。　そう、ユダヤ人の指導者たちにも言っておいたとおりです。
34 　そこで今、新しい戒めを与えましょう。　わたしがあなたがたを愛するように、互いに愛し合いなさい。　35 互いに心から愛し合うなら、わたしの弟子であることが、だれの目にもはっきりするのです。」
36 　さっそく、シモン・ペテロが尋ねました。　「主よ。　いったい、どこへいらっしゃるのですか？」
「あなたは、今はついて来れません。　しかし、ずっとあとになって、ついて来ます。」
37 　「でも、どうしてですか。　どうして今はだめなのですか。　あなた様のためなら死ぬ覚悟もできてます。」
38 　「わたしのために死ぬ、と言うのですか。　いや違います。　そう言うあなたが、明日の朝、鶏が鳴く前に、三度、わたしを知らないと言いはるのです。」

John 13

1 Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto his Father, having loved his own that were in the world, he loved them unto the end.2 And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all the things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and goeth unto God,4 riseth from supper, and layeth aside his garments; and he took a towel, and girded himself.5 Then he poureth water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.6 So he cometh to Simon Peter. He saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt understand hereafter.8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.10 Jesus saith to him, He that is bathed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.11 For he knew him that should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.12 So when he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and sat down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?13 Ye call me, Teacher, and, Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.14 If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.15 For I have given you an example, that ye also should do as I have done to you.16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, a servant is not greater than his lord; neither one that is sent greater than he that sent him.17 If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them.18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled: He that eateth my bread lifted up his heel against me.19 From henceforth I tell you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in the spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.22 The disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.23 There was at the table reclining in Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.24 Simon Peter therefore beckoneth to him, and saith unto him, Tell us who it is of whom he speaketh.25 He leaning back, as he was, on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?26 Jesus therefore answereth, He it is, for whom I shall dip the sop, and give it him. So when he had dipped the sop, he taketh and giveth it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.27 And after the sop, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore saith unto him, What thou doest, do quickly.28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.29 For some thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus said unto him, Buy what things we have need of for the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.30 He then having received the sop went out straightway: and it was night.31 When therefore he was gone out, Jesus saith, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him;32 and God shall glorify him in himself, and straightway shall he glorify him.33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say unto you.34 A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; even as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.36 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered, Whither I go, thou canst not follow now; but thou shalt follow afterwards.37 Peter saith unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee even now? I will lay down my life for thee.38 Jesus answereth, Wilt thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
