Isus, Put do Oca

1 "Neka se ne uznemiruje vaše srce! Pouzdajte se u Boga i u mene!2 U kući mojega Oca mnogo je stanova. Da nije tako, zar bih vam rekao: 'Idem vam pripraviti mjesto'?3 Kad odem i pripremim vam mjesto, opet ću se vratiti da vas uzmem k sebi da biste bili sa mnom.

4 A vi već znate put onamo kamo idem."
5 "Ne znamo, Gospodine, ni kamo ideš", reče Toma. "Kako bismo onda znali put onamo?"6 Isus mu reče: "Ja sam put, istina i život. Nitko ne može doći Ocu osim po meni.

7 Kad biste mene poznavali, znali biste i tko mi je Otac. Odsad ga poznajete i vidjeli ste ga."
8 Filip mu reče: "Gospodine, pokaži nam Oca i bit ćemo zadovoljni!"9 Isus odgovori: "Zar ti, Filipe, još ne znaš tko sam ja, čak ni pošto sam toliko vremena proveo s vama? Tko je vidio mene, vidio je i Oca. Zašto onda tražiš da ga vidiš?10 Zar ne vjeruješ da sam ja u Ocu i Otac u meni? Riječi koje govorim nisu moje, nego Otac koji živi u meni čini svoja djela kroza me.

11 Vjerujte mi da sam ja u Ocu i da je Otac u meni. Vjerujte barem zbog samih djela koja ste vidjeli da činim.
12 Zaista vam kažem, tko vjeruje u mene, činit će djela kakva sam i ja činio, pa čak i veća, jer ja odlazim Ocu.13 Ma što zamolili u moje ime, ja ću to učiniti da bi se Otac proslavio u Sinu.

14 Ma što zamolili u moje ime, ja ću to učiniti.

Isus obećaje Svetog Duha

15 Ako me volite, slušajte moje zapovijedi,16 a ja ću moliti Oca i on će vam poslati drugog Utješitelja koji vas nikad neće ostaviti:17 Svetoga Duha, Duha Istine, kojega svijet ne može primiti jer ga ne vidi niti ga poznaje. No vi ga poznajete jer je sada uz vas i prebivat će u vama.18 Neću vas ostaviti kao siročad. Opet ću vam doći.19 Još samo malo i svijet me više neće vidjeti, ali vi ćete me ponovno vidjeti jer ja živim i jer ćete i vi živjeti.20 U taj ćete dan spoznati da sam ja u Ocu, da ste vi u meni i ja u vama.

21 Tko sluša moje zapovijedi, taj me voli; i zato što me voli, moj će ga Otac voljeti, i ja ću ga voljeti i objaviti mu se."
22 "Gospodine, zašto ćeš se objaviti samo nama, a ne i cijelom svijetu?" upita ga Juda (ne Iškariotski, već drugi učenik istog imena).23 Isus mu odgovori: "Oni koji me vole, činit će što im kažem. Moj će ih Otac zato voljeti pa ćemo doći i živjeti s njima.24 A tko me ne voli, taj me i ne sluša. Riječi koje vam govorim nisu moje, nego od Oca koji me je poslao.25 Govorio sam vam dok sam još bio s vama.

26 A kad Otac pošalje Utješitelja, Svetoga Duha, da me zastupa, on će vas mnogočemu naučiti i podsjetiti vas na sve što sam vam govorio.
27 Ostavljam vam mir - i to svoj mir - a mir koji vam ja dajem nije mir kakav daje svijet. Zato se ne uznemirujte i ne plašite.28 Sjetite se što sam vam rekao: 'Odlazim, ali ću vam opet doći.' Ako me zaista volite, bit ćete sretni što idem k Ocu jer je on veći od mene.

29 Rekao sam vam sve to prije nego što se dogodilo da vjerujete u mene kad se dogodi.
30 Nemam više mnogo vremena govoriti vam jer se približava zli knez ovoga svijeta. On nada mnom nema vlast,

31 ali ja ću dragovoljno učiniti ono što Otac od mene traži kako bi svijet spoznao da ja volim Oca. Ustanite! Hajdemo odavde!"

Jesus’ Parting Words to His Disciples

1 “Do not let your hearts be distressed.s You believe in God;t believe also in me.2 There are many dwelling placest in my Father’s house.s Otherwise, I would have told you, becausests I am going away to make readyt a place for you.t3 And if I go and make readyt a place for you, I will come again and take yout to be with me,t so that where I am you may be too.

4 And you know the way where I am going.”ss
5 Thomas said,t “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”6 Jesus replied,t “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.t No one comes to the Father except through me.

7 If you have known me, you will know my Father too.s And from now on you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said,t “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be content.”t9 Jesus replied,t “Have I been with you for so long, and you have not knownt me, Philip? The person who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me?t The words that I say to you, I do not speak on my own initiative,t but the Father residing in me performst his miraculous deeds.ts11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me, but if you do not believe me,t believe because of the miraculous deedsts themselves.12 I tell you the solemn truth,t the person who believes in me will performt the miraculous deedst that I am doing,ts and will performt greater deedsts than these, because I am going to the Father.13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name,t so that the Father may be glorifiedt in the Son.

14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

Teaching on the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, you will obeyt my commandments.s16 Thent I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocatet to be with you forever –

17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept,t because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he residest with you and will bes in you.
18 “I will not abandont you as orphans,t I will come to you.s19 In a little whilet the world will not see me any longer, but you will see me; because I live, you will live too.20 You will know at that timets that I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you.

21 The person who has my commandments and obeyst them is the one who loves me.t The onet who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will revealt myself to him.”
22 “Lord,” Judas (not Judas Iscariot)ts said,t “what has happened that you are going to revealts yourself to us and not to the world?”23 Jesus replied,t “If anyone loves me, he will obeyt my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and take up residence with him.t

24 The person who does not love me does not obeyt my words. And the wordt you hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me.
25 “I have spoken these things while stayingt with you.

26 But the Advocate,t the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach yout everything,t and will cause you to remember everythingt I said to you.
27 “Peace I leave with you;s my peace I give to you; I do not give itt to you as the world does.t Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.t28 You heard me say to you,t ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be gladt that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.s29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe.s30 I will not speak with you much longer,t for the ruler of this world is coming.s He has no power over me,t

31 but I am doing just what the Father commanded me, so that the world may knowt that I love the Father.t Get up, let us go from here.”s
