一四

1 　「どんなことがあっても、心配したりあわてたりしてはいけません。　神を信じ、何もかも、わたしに任せなさい。　2 父の住んでおられる所には、家がたくさんあります。　もしなかったら、はっきり言っておいたでしょう。　実を言えば、あなたがたを迎える家を準備しに行くのです。　3 すっかり準備ができたら、迎えに来ます。　わたしがいる所に、いつでも、いられるようにしてあげるためにです。
4 これだけ言えば、わたしがどこへ行くか、どうしたらそこへ行けるか、もうわかったでしょう。」
5 　するとトマスが、言い返しました。　「いいえ、ちっともわかりません。　先生がどこへおいでになるのか、まるで見当もつきません。　まして、そこへ行く道など、どうしてわかりましょう。」
6 　イエスはトマスにおっしゃいました。　「いいですか。　わたしが道です。　そして真理でもあり、いのちでもあります。　わたしを通らなければ、だれ一人、父のところへは行けません。　7 わたしがどういう者か知っていたら、わたしの父のこともわかったはずです。　今から、あなたがたは父を知る、というより、もうすでに父を見ているのです。」
8 　今度はピリポが口をはさみました。　「先生。　あなたのお父様を見せてください。　それだけで十分ですから。」
9 　「ピリポ。　こんなに長くいっしょにいるのに、わたしがどういう者か、まだわからないのですか。　わたしを見た者は、父を見たのです。　それなのにどうして父を見せてくださいなどと言うのですか。　10 わたしが父のうちにおり、父がわたしのうちにおられることを信じないのですか。　いいですか。　わたしは自分の考えを話しているのではありません。　わたしのうちに住んでおられる父の命じるままに話しているのです。　父は、わたしを通して、働きをなさいます。　11 わたしが父のうちにおり、父がわたしのうちにおられる、ただこのことを信じなさい。　もし信じられないなら、わたしが見せてあげた力ある奇蹟を思い出してごらんなさい。　そうしたら信じられるでしょう。
12 　よく言っておきます。　わたしを信じる者はだれでも、わたしと同じ奇蹟を行なうばかりか、それよりもさらに大きな奇蹟さえ行なうのです。　わたしが父のもとに行くからです。　13 わたしの名を使って、父に願い求めなさい。　どんなことでもかまいません。　必ずかなえてあげます。　それもみな、父がほめたたえられるためです。　14 そうです。　わたしの名によって、どんなことでも願い求めなさい。　必ずかなえてあげます。
イエス、もう一人の助け主（聖霊）を送ると約束する
15 　わたしを愛するなら、わたしの戒めを守りなさい。　16 父に、もう一人の助け主を送っていただくよう、お願いしましょう。　その助け主は、絶対にあなたがたを離れません。　17 その方とは聖霊、すなわち、すべての真理へと導いてくださる御霊のことです。　世間の人は、この方を受け入れることはできません。　この方を求めもしなければ、認めようともしないからです。　しかし、あなたがたはこの方を知っています。　あなたがたと共に住み、あなたがたのうちにおられるからです。　18 そうですとも。　わたしがあなたがたを見捨てたり、嵐のまっただ中に、孤児のように置き去りにしたりなどするものですか。　必ずあなたがたのところに帰って来ます。　19 もうすぐ、わたしはこの世を去りますが、それでもなお、いっしょにいるのです。　わたしは再び生き返り、あなたがたもいのちを受けるからです。　20 わたしが復活する時、あなたがたは、わたしが父のうちにおり、あなたがたが、わたしのうちにおり、またわたしが、あなたがたのうちにいることがわかります。　21 わたしに従い、わたしの戒めを守る人は、わたしを愛する人です。　わたしを愛する人を、父は愛してくださいます。　わたしもまたその人を愛し、わたし自身を現わします。」
22 　ユダ〔イスカリオテのユダではなく、同名の他の弟子〕がイエスに、不思議そうに尋ねました。　「先生。　私たち弟子にだけ、ご自分を現わそうとなさって、世間の人に現わそうとなさらないのは、どうしてですか。」
23 　イエスはお答えになりました。　「わたしを愛し、わたしのことばを守る人にだけ、わたしは自分を現わすのです。　父もまた、そういう人を愛してくださいます。　わたしたちはその人のところに来て、その人といっしょに住みます。　24 わたしのことばを守らない人は、わたしを愛していないのです。　わたしは、自分で考え出したことを話しているのではありません。　わたしをお遣わしになった父が教えてくださったことを話しているのです。　25 今、まだあなたがたといっしょにいる間に、このことをみな話しておきます。　26 しかし、父がわたしの代わりに助け主〔聖霊のこと〕を送ってくださる時には、わたしが話しておくことを、その方がみな思い出させてくださるばかりか、それ以上のことを、いろいろ教えてくださるのです。
27 　ところで、贈り物をあげましょう。　そう、あなたがたの思いと心を安らかにしてあげる、それがわたしの贈り物です。　わたしが与える平安は、この世が与える、はかない平安とは比べものになりません。　だから、どんな時にも、おろおろしたり、恐れたりしてはいけません。　28 『わたしは行くが、また戻って来る』と言ったことを思い出しなさい。　ほんとうにわたしを愛しているなら、わたしのために心から喜んでくれるはずです。　今わたしは、父のもとに行けるのですから。　父はわたしよりも偉大です。　29 わたしは、まだ起こらないことを前もって話しました。　それが起こった時に、あなたがたがわたしを信じるためです。
30 　もう、あまり多くのことを話す時間がありません。　この世の悪い支配者が、そこまで近づいているからです。　彼はわたしに何もできません。　31 わたしは、父がせよとおっしゃることを進んで実行します。　わたしが父を愛していることを、世の人が思い知るためです。　さあ、出かけましょう。すばらしい実を結ぶために

John 14

1 Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me.2 In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.4 And whither I go, ye know the way.5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; how know we the way?6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.7 If ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also: from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dost thou not know me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; how sayest thou, Show us the Father?10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I say unto you I speak not from myself: but the Father abiding in me doeth his works.11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If ye shall ask anything in my name, that will I do.15 If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever,17 even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.18 I will not leave you desolate: I come unto you.19 Yet a little while, and the world beholdeth me no more; but ye behold me: because I live, ye shall live also.20 In that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him.22 Judas (not Iscariot) saith unto him, Lord, what is come to pass that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my words: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me.25 These things have I spoken unto you, while yet abiding with you.26 But the Comforter, even the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you.27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.28 Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I.29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe.30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world cometh: and he hath nothing in me;31 but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
